iGaming provider of content, Playtech, has signed a multi-year agreement with Colombian betting brand Wplay, through their operator Aquila Global Group SAS.
Under the terms of this deal, Playtech will be Wplay’s strategic technological partner and will distribute their multi-channel products and services in operational and marketing realm to Wplay’s retail and online business.
A Carefully Laid Out Plan
What this essentially means…
…is that Playtech will take online and retail operations by Wplay and migrate them to IMS player management platform, powering all of Colombia’s brand’s software across multiple verticals. This will include their sports betting and casino offerings that will gain more third-party games through Playtech’s open platform.
Also:
Playtech will deliver their marketing prowess and personnel to Wplay, invest in platform technology, software and marketing enterprise.
In that arrangement, the developer will get their share of profits and revenue.
South America a Key Market
Their CEO, Mor Weizer, has said:
“As outlined at the interim results, our pipeline of new licensees is strong across all segments of our core B2B offering.
This agreement demonstrates the execution of our strategy to continue to deliver structured agreements with the leading brands in the most attractive markets globally. Latin America remains a key market for us and with this long-term partnership with Wplay we have added another important strategic partner in the region.”
Colombia’s Pioneers
Colombia’s regulated online gaming market opened in 2017…
…and Wplay was among the first to secure the gaming license to operate there.
The brand’s president Julio Cesar Tamayo has said:
"In addition to strengthening Wplay's leadership in Colombia this agreement will deliver the technology and expertise required to take the market in Colombia to the next level. Playtech has the track record and necessary scale to deliver industry leading software, marketing and responsible gambling tools to the number one brand in Colombia.”
Expansion
In November, Playtech has also formed an alliance with GVC Holdings regarding the launch of new Live Casino studio called Elevation.
The company has also released Kingdoms Rise, the fantasy-themed suite.
This was announced not long after the announced partnership with 1x2 Gaming to whose brands - 1x2 Network and Iron Dog Studio – they will integrate games.

Good luck to both. That sounds like a very comprehensive deal.
