Playcity City Center Pitic

Formerly called Santisima Trinidad del Pitic and Presidio del Pitic, Hermosillo is located in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. If you’re looking for a starting point in the city, try over at the Plaza Zaragoza, located in the centre of the city. Built back in 1865, you can find monuments to General Garcia Morales and General Ignacio Pesqueira as well as a flower garden. You can also see the State Government Palace (The Palacio de Gobierro), built in 1881, and the cathedral, which began construction in the 18th century but didn’t see completion until the beginning of the 20th.

It’s Mexico after all, so you’ll want to be sampling some authentic Mexican cuisine. Restaurants in the area that fit the bill include Taco Grill, La Casa Grande, Irasema and Mariachisimo, the latter with live mariachi bands performing on stage as you dine.

Attractions/NightLife

When it’s time to kick off your shoes and hit the dance floor try one of the local clubs like Republic, Classico, or Velvet. For live music try Korajudaz. For billiards and beer there’s Biblioteca Bar and Pool. When you’re looking for things to do during the day, you can always stop in at the museum, where you can get a better understanding of the culture and history of the area. Try the Regional Museum of Sonora University or the Museum of Sonora. If you’re a sports fan, you can head over to the Hector Espino Stadium, home of the Hermosillo Naranjeros, part of the Mexican baseball league. For flora and fauna there’s the Centro Ecologico de Sonora, with over 300 species of plant and 200 species of animal. If you enjoy hiking and biking there’s the Cerro de la Campana Mountain. About 60 km south of the city, you can find the archaeological zone, La Pintada with its caves and paintings.
