ReadSo, after last weeks winning bet on an NHL game I decided to opt for a NBA match this week, a game that will take place tonight at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida: Memphis Grizzlies versus Miami Heat.
One thing is certain: the Heat will want revenge tonight because the Grizzlies beat them 97-95 in November with a last-second shot and that defeat ended a three-game winning streak for Miami. The Heat didn't feel too well lately, they recorded no less than five consecutive defeats but they bounced back in style and ended the skid with an impressive success against defending champions Los Angeles Lakers, 94-88.
Memphis are coming from a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday night, 110-108 at home to New York on Carmelo Anthony's last-second shot. They are in pretty good shape though, won nine of 13 overall and remain in eighth place in the Western Conference. They have been playing particularly well on the road, winning seven of 11 and the four losses were by an average of 6.8 points.
Despite Memphis' impressive road record I decided to bet on a Miami win and not any king of win, a victory by a margin of at least eight points. I am counting on their will to avenge that defeat and I believe that LeBron James and Dwayne Wade will have a great game tonight. Here is the betting slip from Sports Interaction:
Yay, the Miami Heat defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 118-85 at AmericanAirlines Arena! It was much better than I expected, the Heat were unstoppable! Guard Dwyane Wade led the way with 28 points while LeBron James added 27 points, five assists and five rebounds while forward Chris Bosh also contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds. So, I've won two in a row now, I guess I should be careful next week and pick another winning bet! :)
It's finally time for this week's bet! After two consecutive successful wagers I decided to go for a more sentimental bet this time, a combo bet on three soccer games. The teams that I will back are the teams that I love the most in European soccer: Arsenal from England, Barcelona from Spain and Napoli from Italy. Here are the games:
West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal FC (Arsenal FC to win - 3/4) - Saturday 15:00 GMT
I love the Gunners because of their attacking style and although their results were not very impressive lately I still think that they can mount a serious title challenge. They will have a difficult game at relegation candidates West Brom but Arsenal should prove their strength and quality and clinch the three points.
Barcelona v Getafe (Barcelona to win - 9/100) - Saturday 19:00 GMT
I guess everybody loves Barcelona these days, probably except the Real Madrid fans. Their style of playing soccer is by far the best I've ever seen and I think that they will have no trouble in winning against Getafe although the visitors have a decent mid-table team.
Napoli v Cagliari (Napoli to win - 11/20) - Sunday 19:45 GMT
I started to like Napoli since the days they were rocking the Italian league thanks to Diego Maradona, probably the best soccer player that ever lived. This season is going pretty well for Napoli, they are in third place and although they will probably be unable to fight for the title they will surely do their best to finish at least second or third. Cagliari are a good side, sitting in 10th place before the game, but Napoli are difficult to stop when playing at home.
Here's the betting slip from Sports Interaction, I hope this will make for a third consecutive successful bet :)
...and it didn't go well, Arsenal conceded another goal after half time courtesy of a terrible gaffe from goalkeeper Manuel Almunia. The Gunners did fight back but they couldn't score more than two goals before the final whistle, the game ended 2-2 and my bet went down the drain...

What a shame. So sorry to hear that Johnny. Back to square 1 again then.
Reminds me of snakes and ladders.

Hello there, it's time for my new weekend bet. Soccer fever is spreading all around Europe tonight as there will be a good batch of international games to be played, all of them in the Euro 2012 Championship qualifying groups. I have picked a combo bet on six games, rather risky overall but there will be a good return if I win. Here are the picks:
Armenia v Russia (Russia to win, 1/2)
Wales v England (England to win, 2/5)
Georgia v Croatia (Croatia to win 3/5)
Bosnia & Herzegovina v Romania (Double Chance - Romania to win or Draw 30/53)
Andorra v Slovakia (Slovakia to win 1/25)
Germany v Kazakhstan (Germany to win 1/100)
I'm quite sure that Slovakia and Germany will win while Russia, England and Croatia are a bit more risky picks but I think that those teams are better than their opponents and hopefully they will prevail in the end. The game I'm most interested in is Bosnia vs Romania since I'm Romanian and it will be a crucial game for my fellow countrymen. Romania have to avoid defeat if they want to stay in the race for Euro 2012 and I believe that they can do it. I'm hoping for a win but I picked a "safer" double chance bet in case we get a draw.
Here is the betting slip from Sports Interaction:
Romania lost 2-1 after leading 1-0 at half time, total wreck... The bet would have been a losing one anyway since Russia were held to a goalless draw in Armenia. I guess England beating Wales 2-0 would be the best part of a rather sad day for me...
Sorry to hear Romania lost and your bet went down the pan.
Best of luck for your next bet Johnny.

Here we go again! After two consecutive losing bets I guess it's just about time for a winning one. Normally I should have chosen a low-risk bet just to get back on track but since there's a pretty big event coming up tonight I just couldn't overlook it. The event I'm talking about is the soccer game between arch rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan, the fiercest derby in Italian soccer. If you add that the two teams are separated by just two points at the top of the table then you can easily understand the importance of tonight's game at San Siro stadium.
AC Milan are the current league leaders but they suffered a dip in form lately, they haven't won in two games in the league and also got knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham. On the other hand Inter seem to be riding the wave, they won their last league game to cut the deficit to two points and also managed a thrilling comeback in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. The information seems to point out that Inter Milan are the favorites and the bookmakers seem to agree. However, I think that AC Milan will fight to the death tonight and the result will be a draw.
That's the betting slip from Sports Interaction, I hope it will be a lucky one! :)
Johnny, I love reading your posts especially this one. It really helps to understand someone rookie as me:)
I don't know much about sports and never really placed bets for any event(s) except few pro football games but it's always so exciting to watch games...I mean any games except Golf...(puts me to sleep while watching).
I hope AC Millan will break the odds from bad runs in the past and make their fans proud.
Wish you a good luck,Johnny! ;)

Thanks Wnanhee! By the way, golf puts me to sleep as well :)
It didn't go well for me unfortunately but it went like a dream for AC Milan... It took less than one minute for the AC Milan to break the deadlock as Brazilian starlet Alexandre Pato slotted home. Inter's task became much harder early in the second half when Cristian Chivu was shown a straight red card, and Milan quickly made their numerical advantage count as Pato fired home his second goal of the evening. Antonio Cassano made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the 90th minute after being fouled by Javier Zanetti and AC Milan triumphed against the odds.
Sorry it didn't go well for you Johnny but I am really glad to see,-AC Milan defeated Inter Milan 3-0 to take a five-point lead over its rival at the top of Italian soccer’s Serie A.(I looked it up and watched it a bit) ;).
Fans should be proud of the team after won for the first time in three league matches!!!
Thanks for the update! :D

AC Milan look good for the title on this performance, I can't see how anybody would stop them now.
Alright, it's time for another bet! Since the NHL regular season is coming closer to its conclusion I decided to put my money on a hockey match this time and it might not be a big surprise: I chose to back the Chicago Blackhawks again!
Chicago will meet the Saint Louis Blues again in a game that is extremely important for their playoff hopes. The Blackhawks' playoff hopes are going to go down right to the wire as they enter Wednesday's action just two points ahead of both the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames! So it's quite clear that the Blackhawks have to win this one and that might be a bit easier since the Blues have no chance of reaching the playoffs anymore. However, the Blues are playing pretty well and have recorded three straight wins! Chicago got beaten twice in a row but they can't afford a third, that's what I think.
I considered betting on Chicago to win by two goals or more, that would have given me a better return, but since I lost three bets in a row I decided to go for the safer option, a plain moneyline bet on Chicago to win. Here's the betting slip from Sports Interaction:
Yay! The Blackhawks won 4-3 thanks to an overtime goal from captain Jonathan Toews! It was a nervy game, the Blackhawks were leading 3-2 at the end of the second period but Chris Stewart scored for the Blues to send the match into overtime. Luckily Toews stepped up just when the team needed him the most and Chicago grabbed the crucial two points!
It's time for this week's bet and since the NBA playoffs kick off today I had no other choice than to direct my attention towards this big sport event. Four games will be played tonight but I decided to pick just one, probably the safest one I guess: Indiana Pacers at Chicago Bulls.
The Chicago Bulls are the favorites to reach the final from the Eastern Conference but the playoff is a long and winding road and the Bulls will have plenty of obstacles to overcome. The first of those is represented by the Indiana Pacers, a team that has always been solid and hard to beat. During the regular season the Bulls managed to beat the Pacers three times out of four but it's worth mentioning that the Pacers won the last game 115 to 108 in March.
However, I think that the Chicago Bulls will win tonight but since the moneyline odds were unattractive when it comes to the projected winnings I decided to bet on a convincing win for the Bulls, by 12 points or more. Here is the betting slip from Sports Interaction:
Well, the Bulls won the game but I lost the bet since the score was 104 to 99. I did get to watch the last quarter and to my surprise the Indiana Pacers were leading 99 to 97 with around 2 minutes left on the clock! Then the Bulls' defense stepped up and shut down the Pacers while Derrick Rose led them in attack to clinch the win but there wasn't enough time left to win by 12 points and hand me a nice winning bet :) However, I'm quite happy to see the Chicago Bulls winning the first game, that should give them some more confidence.
I'm going for a mid-week bet this time since there is an event that I will be looking forward to this evening: the Spanish Cup soccer final (also called King's Cup or Copa del Rey). The two teams that will be battling for the trophy are arguably two of the very best teams in the world: Barcelona and Real Madrid. The rivalry between these two sides is well-known and that is why this derby is called "El Clasico" (The Classic).
This will be the third El Clasico of the season. Barcelona have won the first one 5-0 at home after a flamboyant performance and the second one ended 1-1 last week. Both previous derbies were played in the Spanish League and that's why tonight's game will be a lot different since the two teams will be playing with the silverware on the table.
Some of you already know that I am a Barcelona fan, their style of playing soccer is just the best and most entertaining I have seen. However, Real Madrid have a very strong team as well and also a master tactician on the bench in coach Jose Mourinho. I'm putting my money on Barcelona though, I think that they will give their best tonight and put their hands on the trophy. Here is the betting slip from Sports Interaction:
Thanks for
Barcelona and Real Madrid!
Wow, two of the very best teams indeed,Johnny.
This is one of those games that we can't and must not miss.
Good luck with your betting and thanks for all you do as always.
Thanks a lot for the good luck wish :) It will surely be a very entertaining match.
