So, it's time for this week's bet! I decided to go for a soccer game this time since there's a big derby on Sunday in the English Premier League. Reigning champions Chelsea will meet current league leaders Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in a very important battle for the title. Chelsea are on a poor run on five games without a win while Manchester United are in good form after beating Arsenal 1-0 last Monday. However, the bookmakers think that Chelsea are the favorites! Here are the odds from Intertops:

I thought this over for a few days, I was inclined towards betting on a draw but then I finally decided to go against the odds and bet on a Manchester United win! Thanks Blue. I think none of the two teams will be taking any chances, they might be very cautious but I believe that Man United have what it takes to clinch a narrow win. But you can never know what's going to happen, that's the beauty of it :)

Whoops, the game has been postponed due to heavy snowfall in London. Here's what the Chelsea website says: "Sunday's game at Stamford Bridge has been postponed following consultation with the Police and the local authority. There has been heavy snow in London on Saturday. Should customers require a refund they can send the tickets back to the box office with credit card details and they will be cancelled."

I am not sure what will be happening with my bet, Intertops will probably let me know. I don't think I lost the bet though, at least not yet :) I guess they will probably refund my money, right?

I would think that they would refund your money Johnny.  Well at least I hope that they do.  There must be some T & C re cancelled games being as so many have been cancelled over here at the moment due to the dire weather conditions.

Well, I seem to be lacking inspiration this week and the best road to take when you are uninspired is to bet on the favorites! That's exactly what I did, I picked two games from this NFL week and put my money on the stronger teams.

New England Patriots v Buffalo Bills (December 26th)

Straight Up Winner New England Patriots 1.26

The Patriots are on a six-game winning streak and it seems almost certain that they will extend that run to seven games after meeting the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are probably one of the weakest teams in the NFL this season and I can't see how they might manage to pull off an upset here.

New Orleans Saints v Atlanta Falcons (December 28th)

Straight Up Winner Atlanta Falcons 1.74

The Falcons are leading the league with a .857 percentage. They are on an eight-game winning streak and they also are unbeaten at home this season. That's what I'm counting on, their home for has been nothing short of impressive and I think that it will continue at least for another game.

Good news, the New England Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills 34 to 3! So one of my two bets is successful, now we'll have to wait and see what will happen tonight in New Orleans Saints v Atlanta Falcons :)

Damn, the New Orleans Saints broke the Atlanta Falcons' unbeaten run at home as they won 17 to 14! That broke my bet as well, maybe I should have been more careful...

I decided to try another bet on one of my favorite teams and this time we're talking about English soccer. I am an Arsenal fan, and a very happy one after the recent positive results. Arsenal beat Chelsea in the London Derby on Monday and they have the chance to be tied on 38 points at the top of the table with Manchester United and Manchester City if they will grab a win tonight at Wigan Athletic. Wigan had a pretty good last match themselves, they beat Wolves 2-1 away from home in a very important relegation battle. However, I really hope that Arsenal will grab the win and the three points tonight.

The bet I have placed at Intertops will not give me a great profit, I'd be happier to see Arsenal grabbing three points than me getting 2.25 dollars! :)

Things are looking good at half time although Wigan took the lead on 17 minutes thanks to a rather dubious penalty kick decision. Arsenal didn't play particularly well but Arshavin and Bendtner found the back of the net to make it 2-1 at the break. I hope they'll hold on to that advantage ;)

Well, things went perfectly for a while... Wigan had Charles N'Zogbia sent off after the break but Arsenal failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage. It got even worse nine minutes from time when some particularly poor corner kick defending gifted Wigan the equalizer! Arsenal should have been given a penalty kick a few minutes later when one of the Wigan players handled the ball inside the box but the referee didn't see it that way. So, Arsenal dropped two points and I dropped five bucks, not a good evening :(

What a let down Johnny.  I thought Arsenal would have walked all over Wigan.  So much for the "given" result!

Thanks Blue. That was quite disappointing, they let in that second goal stupidly! Wigan played pretty well though but overall Arsenal would have deserved a win.

It's time for another bet and since the biggest event of the weekend is the debut of the NFL postseason I decided to put my money on one of the Wild Card Weekend games. The one that I chose is New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts, the game will be played today.

I decided to back the Colts for a win considering their form of late as they won four out of their last five games while the Jets won only two of their last five games. Indianapolis (10-6) won the AFC South while New York Jets (11-5) took the second AFC wild card spot and tradition seems to be favorable to the Colts as they lead the series 40-26. However, the Jets have won two of three postseason meetings.

Damn, lost this one too... The Colts were leading 7-0 at half time and all seemed to go the right way but the Jets fought back in the last two quarters and won the game 17 to 16! The other game that was played yesterday ended with a surprising result as well, the Seattle Seahawks beat the New Orleans Saints 41 to 36!

After the recent mishaps I have only 7 dollars and 64 cents in my wallet at Intertops and I decided to put all that money on this weekend's NFL Divisional Playoffs games. I opted for a parlay bet on all the four games, let's see each one of them:

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers

It should be a tight game but since the Steelers have beaten Baltimore 13 to 10 in the last game at Baltimore I guess they should clinch this one. The bet is Pittsburgh Steelers to win.

Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons

This should be a very close game but since both teams are very good in defense I decided to put my money on an over/under bet. The bet is Under 43.5 total points.

Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears

The last time they met Seattle sacked Jay Cutler six times and notched a 23-20 win at Chicago in Week 6. I doubt that will happen again though, the Bears can't miss this opportunity! The bet is Chicago Bears to win.

New York Jets at New England Patriots

Last time these two sides met Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes as New England blew out New York, 45-3, in Week 13. I don't think that the Patriots will give the Jets too much breathing space this time either. The bet is New England Patriots to win.

Well, the Steelers beat the Ravens, I got that one right. But the Atlanta Falcons conceded no less than 48 points to the Green Bay Packers, so much for their famous defense... The bet is lost but at least I hope the Chicago Bears will win tonight!
