Yep, that's what I'm thinking. But I think Russia could go all the way too. Plus England, they might be a lot better once Rooney comes in. Or maybe not :)

Ukraine vs France - I'd say it will end in a draw, I really liked how Ukraine played in the first match.

Sweden vs England - I'd bet on a win for England, even though I'm not too optimistic about their chances.

I rooting for Ukraine and England .

I'd like to see England win but I won't hold my breath!

When I think of English football particularly in tournaments such as this one, complacency is the word that springs to mind because that is how English footballers seem to get when in a leading position.  That said, I didn't see any complacency tonight.

I can only keep my fingers crossed Johnny but yes, you are right, I do feel slightly more optimistic.

Greece vs Russia - Russia will win this one in my view, they are by far the better team.

Czech Republic vs Poland - This could be a spectacular game because either team could qualify with a win. I like Poland (the country and its people), so I'll support them tonight.

I think Russia and Poland to win, but i won't bet on it.............

I'll go with Russia too.  I think that it will be a draw for Czech Republic vs Poland but I'll be rooting for Poland to win.

Well, I got both of them wrong. The Czechs won 1-0 against Poland and it was a deserved win. But Russia... Well, I think they were complacent against Greece, lost the game 1-0 and got eliminated from the tournament.

It's quite frustrating to be honest because Russia were the best team in the group while Greece were, in my view, the weakest. But that's football, if you underestimate your opponent you always pay the price.

I think I will start making some predictions on these matches too! So far I have gotten 3 out of 4 of the last matches right and won a bit.  :-bd $$

The one I got wrong was Ukraine vs France...  :( Can't win them all...

Two tough games today. I'd say that only Germany is sure for the next round. I can't wait to see if Holland can beat Portugal by two clear goals.

I am having a heck of a time reading this thread and having my eyes glued to the POR/NED match...  I am all for the Dutch...

But, tell me this... doesn't Portugal go forward even if they lose to the Netherlands in this match? I am rather new to this sport and don't yet understand all of the ins and outs of the tournament.

Portugal can qualify if they lose, but only if they lose just by one goal and Germany beat Denmark in the other match.

It's 1-1 at half time in both games, so it's Germany and Portugal who go through at the moment.

We are just too wrapped up in American Football and Baseball. Soccer is growing in popularity though... kids in school play it now... and here I am watching it... so there is hope for us yet! LOL

I had my hopes up when van der Vaart scored 0-1 at the 11th minute and a few minutes after that germany scored againts Denmark.

Just one more goal and we were through...............then germany got a counter goal and it was 1-1 denmark-germany.

Then Portugal makes 1-1, and then 2-1 with a fantastic goal Ronaldo,  and after that Germany scores 1-2, but now we need three goals to advance, with only 17 minutes to go, hope was gone.........

Too bad Lions of Holland, next time better!!!!!!!!!

Holland were totally disappointing tonight. The defence was ridiculous, I just couldn't believe how easy it was for the Portuguese to create chances. And the attack, except the first 15 minutes, lacked creativity and determination. And that was that, tonight's team was probably the worst version of the Holland national team I have ever seen.

As for the Germans, they did what they know best: they won somehow.

I agree johnny, they had nothing, absolutely nothing to lose, then go for it , give it all you have, but it just wasn't gonna happen, something was missing, spirit was missing.........

I agree that the spirit was missing. After Russia lost its match against Greece there were rumors about a bad atmosphere in the team. Was there anything like that in the Dutch team?

At the press conference they did "say" they were not on one line, but when they asked about it, they said to keep that indoor, they wouldn't share what it was with the press......
