*sigh*..I think I'm going bonkers. The bf is working every day, out early a.m. back way late evenings (around 1 am) and not only do I have the feedings every 2 - 3 hours, accompanied by burpings, pee and poo stimulation, washing and 'play' time, I've every other chore that needs done (work, 2 dogs for walkies, yard runs, doing every errand, shopping, paying bills, cleaning house, cooking et c) ...it feels like I JUST sit down, and 5 minutes later it's either something else or time for the next feeding.
If I'd found a whole nest, I'd have checked myself into the looney bin by now lol -

lol, it's not really...hmm, strenuous? It's just...constant lol
I'm eating a quick dinner, and in 5 min its his dinner.....again, followed by switching over the laundry, running the dogs around the block after feeding them their dinner, unloading the dishwasher, my moms pinged with about 30 computer questions, so have to go do her some things, do more work, then it'll suddenly be his next feeding lol
then the bf gets in, will want the computer, grab him some dinner, spend time before he goes to bed 20 minutes later (hes back up at 6 am) and hes off for another 16 hours
really, it's all just a matter of having a routine, and the dogs have theirs, and the new kitty sets it all out of whack, espec with zero sleep on my end
yesterday i had to go into the next city to find formula (like 2 hours by bus) to come back to mine, check him, out to the other end to shop, back to feed him..
BUT
the little guy is thriving, hes strong, had his second poo, so we're satisfied hes fine now, and he got a shot he wouldnt have gotten out in the frost
now it'll be three weeks of weaning, teaching him the poo box, and keeping the dogs from thinking it's a movable squeaky toy lol til he can fend for himself in another month or so -

lol, well, we began with a cat apiece, then got a dog after moving into together, followed by a second as a companion (and well, because the first bonded only to me) making 4 in total. His job was nine to 5 and we had a happy little rut.
But then he went back to school, changed careers and now has the most erratic hours I've come across (psst, group homes suck) so what was a shared burden, is shouldered alone pretty much for the most part
We needed the kitten like a hole in the head as my mother would say.
But when I heard that poor wailing out in the freezing rain at 3am across the road and three houses down, I had to go see - and seeing the lil thing, I couldn't just leave it out there to die.
Cats in general are great - self sufficient after you stick out two bowls. Dogs however, are like children that never move out. They alone stress me out lol, but I work at home, so it's fine. The added 'treasure' makes me realize why new parents go mental from lack of sleep -

LOL Yes, the "squeaky toy" thing is a fun one, let me tell you!! My lab puppy was only a month older than the kittens, but much larger, so we had a good time with that. My Lhasa loved them & was fascinated by them, until they started chasing her to catch all her hair. Kittens are SOOOOO much fun!!
It'll all fall into place.
Here's Pinkie watching the box of kittens I had in the shower..;...And a pic of me with a pile of kittens in my lap. Their little nails were so sharp, I had bloody scratches all over my legs! -

Don't mean to be a major depress-o this Friday morning....but...
Went in the room, and kitty pooed blood (fresh, not clotted) and diarrhea everywhere, so obviously, we're worried.
To those who hand raised young kittens...how normal is this? I've read conflicting reports.
A - your kitty is dying, get the shovel, so sad, too bad
to...
B- if he's 2 weeks old, could just be the backed-up poo he's been storing inside, kittens poo blood like kids gets nosebleeds, he's tender, wipe softer
I realize the stock response is 'well, go to the vet'....cough ($200 for the walk-in alone, add tests, meds etc)..I mean, we adore him, but he's a feral stray.
One side says, rush, now, he's got MINUTES
other says, meh, it's normal, watch him a day, these hings usually resolve themselves in 24 hours, just monitor him
He eats like a piglet, spry as Hades, no vomit
Just looking for feedback from those who'd have premie/newborns/young uns with no mommy kitten -

It could be as simple as what you're feeding him. Or, it could be something more serious, and - trust me - with all the critters I have, I understand not rushing to the vets, especially when he's so young.
I'm not going to be around much today, so here's a few thoughts.....
Are you feeding him a Cat Mother's Milk replacement type of food? No cow's milk, right? If so, stop that right away.
Is he eating anything solid yet? If so I think I'd try to figure out how to get some rice and plain chicken down him. Do you have a blender you could liquify it with, mixing water with the food? Maybe just some rice at first, then if that works, add a little chicken to the mix.
Whatever you do, make sure you keep liquids in him no matter what, 'cus he's little and it won't take much for him to dehydrate; that alone will kill him.
Beyond that, I don't have many suggestions 'cus he's so, so young. Do you guys Feline Leukemia over there? If so, that's always a real possibility with outdoor/wild/feral cats, and there's nothing anyone can do.
I hope you can figure it out and he's ok. I know how very hard it is to fight to save a baby like that, then lose it anyway. I'll be back tonight to see how it's going. -

No, no, just KMR, kitten replacement milk, dang stuff is 10 bucks a can (like, pop can size).
Well, after after the explosive mess yesterday, and the blood, this morning at his feedings, he's all gung-ho and looking good, hungry like a piglet, etc. We HAD switched from powder to the better, more accurate milk (KMR), so it may have been the switch-over, or was just bunged and needed out (backed up).
Seems fine today.
He looks to be around 3 weeks, but well, heck, he also looks 2 weeks, or 4 in some ways - we think maybe just a premie 3. We're introducing him to the gruel this week (wet food and water paste) and his formula in the saucer to see how it goes
oh, and thanks for getting back
I'm glad I'm a boy - if i were a mom, id be in the crib every 40 seconds seeing the brat was still breathing -

I would've too, if I'd had kids. But, guys are parents, too!
I'm glad to hear he's doing better, and I think you're right, it was probably just the change in the formula. Hope he keeps gaining!! -

Just an update on the monster
Little guy still has a cold (well, or allergies), but he's on soft food (along with his formula) and took to a saucer easy as pie.
Using his poo box, and let the monster out of his cell to roam the house. The dogs are kind (mostly) and curious and he's fast and a little terror. Man, little guys can run.
Thanks for the earlier tips. He looks good to go -

Weird, the kitten's eyed changed today. I mean, I knew they started as blue then changed to their permanent colour, much like human babies, but thought in like the first week or two. Since up until today he had beautiful baby blues, thought he would keep them. Anyway, now an olive green

Hi guys, I love animals and I always had them in my life. These are my two babies Borko the shar pei and Tuffy the cat. They enriched my life in so many ways and I'm so grateful to have them.
“Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.
It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and even how much closer we become with each other because of them.”
