Hereby a picture of my big boy Max. I had the privilege of meeting him 6 years ago and since that moment spend 24/7 with him until 2 weeks ago.
Within 1,5 days Max had 3 heavy heavy and long epileptic attacks that physically worn him out so much I had to decide it was time for him to travel on to a better peaceful place so he can have the rest he so very much deserves. With his permission I must add. July 2nd Max was that day after being on earth for 11,5 years.
I'm sooo proud of my big brave boy, the 6 years he was in my life were amazing, very intense, never dull, full of love and fun, learned so much from him. I feel like I'm blessed for sharing lives and love him so much.
When we crossed paths 6y ago Max was 5,5 and was a very sad passive dog, most probably had a not so nice life. Didn't know what to do with a bone for 2 years. I'm proud to say that I've seen him changing into a 100% Boxer, a big happy clown, fearless, proud, very loyal, intelligent and so eager to learn, dominant in his own way, very protective of me (im single, and if, wherever we were a guy came up to me, Max was there before him blocking his path) polite, unstoppable outside, always wanted to go forward, at home my little sweet big friend sleeping, sometimes snoring, or hanging in the/his loveseat watching out the window all day. We walked a long way together, with lots of hard work done by him, so happy I got to be in his presence along the guidelines.
So sorry I couldn't prevent him for the terrible seizures and all that comes with that, didn't see it coming. Most likely Max had a brain tumor.
After he went to sleep something new came into our lives we never had but now do were Max stays and I can visit him when ever I want and that's a garden.
He is up there with lots of other animals, it's a garden full of love, visited him yesterday, his new place needs a little pimping, I will do it like we always do and did, step by step.
I write this in honor of Max
My Best Friend in the whole wide world

I grew up on a family that has always a pet in our house. Be it a cat or dog or both. We always have dog/s for companionship and some sort of protection (early deterrent or warning for any intruders). When still single, have to rent an apartment in the city where I work but always go home on the weekends to visit my parents (93 miles where I work) and to visit my pets, well we have a small pack of dogs headed by Jaja , the matriach and Boogie, the alpha male . and 4 others. We always leave the most beautiful pup every time Jaja gave birth and the rest we give to friends and relatives. We had to have that small pack because my parents are leaving in a 5 acre place with many fruit yielding trees so the dogs are necessary for protection.
I had an accident that requires me to rest my broken wrist for at least a month and so spent my time with my parents while recuperating. And every afternoon spent most of my time reading pocketbooks under a huge tree for its shady branch and cool breeze of air that pass by. And the dogs also sleep or lay under the tree were I was at.
One afternoon , as I exited our house, my pack of dogs are already waiting for me as we always do and we headed again for the tree. 30 feet before I reach my favorite spot, Jaja sprinted ahead, barking and in full alert, and a commotion ensued. As I near the commotion on my favorite spot, I saw Jaja biting something and her head going side to side as if to hit the thing in her mouth to the ground and then there was also Boogie joining the action. As I finally reach the spot, a cobra lays dead on the ground and my pack are barking as if very proud and happy for the kill. I was so proud of them, and I as pat their heads, said my Thank yous to them cause without them there, I might been beaten by the cobra.
Called my parents, and told them what happened and they too praised our dogs. But that joy was short lived, because suddenly Jaja collapse on the ground shaking, dying..... and as I examined her, saw a bit mark near her nose . She was beaten by the cobra and it only took less than three minutes before Jaja felt the venom. Then as we felt sorry for the loss of Jaja, after five more minutes, Boogie also fell to the ground shaking and gasping for breath, and As we examined him, saw a bit mark on his left front paw. He also died. It seems Boogie joining the action, biting the tail of the cobra, gave the cobra the stability to launch an attack on the two cause it was no longer being tossed from side to side by Jaja because Boogie is already biting the tail.
We lost two of our pets --companion, friend and protector-- that day. Thanks to them, more than twenty three years later, I am still alive doing this post. Thank you Jaja and Boogie, I owe you my life, for that I am very grateful tp both of you! -

I used to tell my children that story that without those dogs, they will not be on this Earth. At first, they have their doubts, luckily for me, my parents confirmed my story to them. And that somehow affected them in a positive way, Both are taking Veterinary Medicine, son on his 2nd year VET MED proper, daughter on her second year VET MED preparatory.

@ @Barebones @AleBarebones Alexa @Markotik thanks for your kind words.
I am not a storyteller about my life but I couldn't resist the opportunity when I came across this sweet topic.
Most people underestimate the bound you can have with a animal and how intensive that can be.
Even me, I work at home so me and Max were together almost 24/7
For the last few days it starts to hit me that he is really gone. With everything I want to do, like for example go to the store, my mind goes, o first take Max for a walk, but before I think it all I get another thought, no you don't he's gone, things like that. Same when I'm in the store, automatically walk up to dog food section.
Worst of all for me is walking outside by myself and waking up in the morning thinking he is sleeping behind the couch and you come in the room and it is silent.
Then later on a girlfriend calls and asks why I sound down......didn't bother answering that one.
People forget so quickly when you lost your pet, or say get over it it's just a dog.Yeah sure....
Last year I found my mother dead and I feel like I'm now in the same unreal twilight zone as I was then.
Friendship with a dog is so precious and unique when you compare it to people's friendships.
A dog never lets you down when you're sad or depressed, or try to take advantage of you when you're in that situation.
A dog never judge's you, it's unconditional love.
In Dutch we have an expression that I found to be so very true, is something like:
If you start to know people, you will start to love animals
@Lankadan very sad story but what a great beautiful outcome! -

3 years later .......................BO
We just got a new puppy... im guessing he's about 8 weeks old (animal rescue or whatever)... Half Pit/ Half Shar-pei. It's my first puppy and i had no idea how hard it is to have a puppy around! His name is Bo, short for Rambo (lol my boyfriends pick)
Hey guys... just wanted to update ya'll on the newest additions in my life .. 2 horses. I bought them in May 2015, from a kill buyer at an auction! These poor horses were headed to slaughterhouse in Mexico! Ive never owned any horses before so its been quite the experience(to say the least ) Yearling and younger mare, perfectly sound, severely abused, mistreated and the older mare had been starved. She was in such horrible condition, we didnt know if she would make the hour long drive to our ranch, from the auctionhouse! All summer i've worked endlessly to put weight on these girls and it's still "work in progress". Also worked to mentally and physically get them back to good health and rehabilitate them. Excuse my absence from the forum.... heres some "before and after" pics of the mares i rescued.

I have a question for people with animals...if you have a cat/dog or any other animal...if something happens to our beloved animals, would you get another pet right away or wait? My Cubby in post above is 10 and I pray he lives 5 more years without health issues, but I just love him so much and when he leaves me, I am not sure I want to get another dog...or that I could never get one like him. I would like to hear imput from people to just see their thoughts... thanks in advance!!!
