  •  Hi all,

Just wondering who believes in ghosts... Even if you don't believe in them, but have experienced some unexplained occurrences, feel free to share!

I personally have never experienced anything that has made me a solid believer, but I have had my share of strange occurrences. One in particular that I remember, happened to me a couple of years ago. I was riding in a car with my boyfriend one night, and we were driving past a local forest preserve. I was blankly staring out the window, when I saw something white, and seemingly glowing, moving very fast, and in a back and forth motion through the trees. I immediately prompted by boyfriend to look and he witnessed the same thing. From the street, and for the short amount of time it was in my view, it looked to have a human shape; a white, glowing, human figure pacing quickly back and forth through the forest.

Of course, I thought it was a trick of the light, or perhaps someone in the forest with a flashlight, anything to make sense of what I had just seen. Out of curiosity, I got on my computer when I got home to research any paranormal activity that anyone may have reported in this particular forest preserve in the past. While nothing too solid turned up, I did come across a random forum in which someone had commented seeing a 'glowing humanoid.' I was shocked, and a little freaked out. How could someone have described the same exact thing, in the very same place? Though I'm not convinced that what I saw was a ghost or anything supernatural, I can't help but look any time I pass by this spot at night, in hopes that I may see whatever it was again.

  • Well I believe its something existing under ower world but ghosts? hm... From prehistoric times people believe in God and also sould - ghosts... Even if if You are ateist its not discredit You to believe cause religion is something different already

  • The seeing of unexplained things have turned some atheists into believers. I believe there are unexplained things that exist. I hAve experienced my fair share of creepy happenings in my life. Do i believe?  Definatly i believe in something.

I'm still a very skeptical person despite any experiences I've had, but I'd like to say I believe in something as well. I'm someone who likes to see the proof though, so it's difficult for me to wholeheartedly believe in something that can't be proven.

  • Hmm... for an atheist to become a believer there needs to be a proof.

I don't believe in ghosts. Never seen one, and never had any strange experiences. If I hear or see something that is not explicable, that doesn't really change my perception. We, as human beings, are very fragil and flawed, especially our senses. And they are pretty much under "control" of our fears, desires, and all circumstances that brought us here, to this moment.

Fear of unknown is certainly very powerful, and ghosts fit in perfectly. Somehow they are in a different realm of existence (whatever that is), but they can cross into "our realm" too. And they can interact with us and objects in it as well, but somehow we (people) are completely powerless and at their mercy. How convenient, for them. There are laws of physics on this planet that even ghosts would have to obey to. :)

I'm more in awe of almost completely unknown human mind, and especially the consciousness. If I can't understand something, I don't contribute that to the supernatural powers.

p.s I'm not trying to belittle anyone's beliefs. This is my opinion, and I felt free to express it. :)

  • If there's something strange in your neighborhood. Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! If there's something weird and it don't look good. Who you gonna call?cry

  •  I don t believe in ghost...personal experience is one thing, scientific evidence is another matter, i think. Part of the difficulty in investigating ghosts is that there is not one universall  definition of what a ghost is.

  • I do believe in ghosts, have seen them and have spoken to some in the past. The afternoon a young man was shot and killed in a drive by across the street, did not go out,but that night a young man came to my daughter and myself and asked us to tell his wife and baby daughter he loved them.when asked his name and we contacted his family.some just can not go on til all is taken care of.

I agree that there are many definitions of what a ghost is. There is no one specific way in which people who claim to have seen a ghost perceive them. Even on these TV shows of individuals claiming to be mediums and have the ability to speak to the dead, communicate in very different ways. It makes you wonder what's really true.

  • I believe in ghosts or as I prefer to think of them "Energy". Our flesh may die but our energy our essence I believe is here or there forever. I also beleve that our energy has the ablity to hold memory...just like a computer. If the loss was great or the love was strong or the hate was real. then I believe we can hold that after we die.

There is also a possability that there is another plane of existence or many planes of existence. these "planes" may be just slightly out of our visable spectrum and sometimes they bleed over so to speak. There is a researcher in florida who used concave lenses in a telescope to study something in space...I forget what. But the story goes that it was a cloudy night and he turned the telescope twords the city skyline and he watched these enteties made of light intelligently moving around seemingly watching us and he said they were of many shapes and sizes. He was using concave lenses in his scope which is the opposite of what you would find in a normal scope....or is it convex...hmmm.At any rate....look it up im sure you can find it.

Whatever it is.....its not god....that was a made up story like every other religion. If you dont think so look at it this way...if you take say waters chemical name...H2O and put it in a book...in 5000 years that new version of the book will still have waters chemical name as H2O it will never change. Now look at another book.....The bible.....see where im going with this?

  • All of you are right in your own way. And what I want to say ... The world, the universe is much wider and deeper than our perception. Our immediate perception (by ears, eyes, nose, touch, etc.) is limited to a certain range.
In the world or in the space that pervades everything around for example there are energies that we don't see and don't feel. And this does not mean that they are absent. There are radio waves and electromagnetic oscillations and others. The human eye does not see them and human ear does not hear them. And this does not mean that they do not exist.
The same thing about ghosts. Maybe it's some energy clots, essences ... Some people can see or feel them. Because their channels of perception are tuned to this.
Personally, I've never seen any ghosts. But I felt the presence of something else. When I was a child, I was scared of such an inherent. Later I learned to cope with my fears. And now I live quietly and just feel some changes in the surrounding energy.

I am calm within myself and treat the world around me without aggression. Therefore, all these energy fluctuations pass by me rather neutrally.))

In fact, the world is very interesting...

  • I will joke by the ocassion Adam Lambert sings in his song My heart is a ghost town, so who knows :)

  • I don't believe in ghosts. It seems to me they're the result of our fertile imagination. I don't have such experience as I've never seen ghosts. At least not yet :)

  • Caution is the parent of safety.

All in good time )))) Good luck!

  • hahaha thank you

  • I think ghosts are amazing and cute and also we had two of them living in our old house. They liked to flicker the lights and sometimes they knocked over things but we believe it wasn't intentional. In our current apartment there's a house spirit (not a ghost) and I think it hoards socks. Isn't it nice - like a personal dragon! I love him very much :)

  • There are so many things in this universe that exist in spite of our believing or not believeing:) As for me, ghosts are just like we but if we didn't have a body. I can imagine that - no weight, no tears, no liquids;)

  • I have never experienced paranormal experience but I believe in ghosts, i consider them as unexplained things.

I think these are such common experiences for those who have come into contact with spirits. I have definitely had people in my life pass and then within a short time the flickering of lights would begin. Another big one in my house has been the doorbell randomly ringing. Very interesting how they choose to communicate. Still a skeptic though. I would love to see a credible medium one day, if they even exist.

  • i dont believe in ghosts until the evidence prove otherwize.

  • A young Englishwoman, Amy Harper, photographed this silhouette that could be the Gray Lady of Dudley Castle in the Midlands

  • I  believe in them i see them now. we live in a house that is 175 years old and things that we cant explain happen all the time like when i was in the dining room and i was getting ready to vacumm and i have a 4 foot shelf hanging up with collectablle plates and right in front of me it came flying off the wall. just yesterday in my kitchen husband and i were in there and trash can lid just jumped up off of bottom of trash can with lid that has the swinging lid top went up acrosss the kitchen about five feet my husband freaks  out but it does not bother me at all they are harmless and the hearths in this house sounds like a monster it actually makes sounds like growling weird. and when i am doing something around the home all of a sudden i will see some man go by very very fast it is almost like wow did i just see that or what the fudge was that....i love this old house  thanks rose

Very interesting photo. Hard to know what's legitimate thought when it comes to photographs, but I have definitely seen some hard-to-explain objects or images appear in a photo, such as orbs. I also know someone who photographed a rose bush, and after getting it developed, the image was extremely distorted, except for an unexpected face in the corner which looked very similar to a representation of the Virgin Mary. Very strange.

  • ahhh!! I see dead people....

  • i believe in the afterlife and i think it is possible to get back from there somehow? maybe there is a glitch in the cosmic matrix that allows spirits to return here? i intend to abuse the glitch all the way and return as a GHOST.

  • zuga wrote:

exactly! ppl often and out of ignorance make various "happenings" to be supernatural. But just because you cant explain it or dont know enough to explain it , does not mean its a ghost, god, UFO etc.

  • I do not quite believe in things that unproven in science but I do not wanna experienced in ghosts as well. tongue

I agree. Many times situations are exaggerated when things can easily be explained. On the other hand, things that are difficult to explain, people can have a tendency to write them off as supernatural occurrences. I am someone who prefers evidence and pas well, but I still have hope of an afterlife. I just can't bring myself to wholeheartedly believe in it without any proof.

  • Nope. Not at all. There's nothing that indicates to me that anything exists after this life.

  • I think it depend on yourself , If you keep thinking there is it . they gonna be there too

  • I belive that ...

  • I believe in ghosts, i dont have some clearly experience, but sometimes i have weird feelings and i see moving things. One time we talks about ghosts in our flat where we living, and at that point our big flower shake, like somebody catch and shake her for 5sec. Was crazy...

  • i belive itevil

Wow, sounds like some very crazy experiences, indeed. I think I would be very scared if something like this happened to me!

  • I believe in science! If you see something that you can't explain that does not mean you see something supernatural.

  • I have seen a ghost of grandmother of my wife who said to me :"Give her to me!" and I replied : " I would not"

  • They say there are some ghosts in our castles in France but I have not seen them

As for me science is only jne of the way to describe this world. And if you don't see something or cannot explain it that does not mean that it does't exist.

I envy you ! )) May be some day you will see a ghost. Unfortunately my family have no a castle in France...

  • Not only do I believe in spirits but Ive seen one. In 2002 I was in the kitchen getting a drink and this spirit just kinda floated by. He was in his early 20's and his clothes were mid 90's and he was walking but I couldnt see his feet and he was translusant. I was terrified but it never looked my way. Very creepy knowing they can just come into your home and watch you. I was skeptical before that but definately believe now.

Very interesting encounter. Thanks for sharing! I'm not sure what I'd do if I actually witnessed a spirit. I'd probably be terrified. I've heard you have to be a certain kind of person to come in contact with a ghost. Very open to the possibilities. I've also heard they can sense your fear and they do their best not to frighten the living, which could certainly be why I've never seen one.But who knows!

  • yes absoutely i have actually seen a random spirit just walking through the lounge room. Freaked me out.

  • I believe in ghosts. People say that cats can see them. Whoever has a cat ,probably noticed how they sometimes look into the void, as if they see someone there.

  • Ghosts do not exist. The spirits, yes. it can very well be triggered by our minds because of fear.

  • i dont really believe in ghost though we did have some aquaintences with some when we were kids. we moved in an old 3 story house and we saw and heard several things even th 1st night my grand parents stayed in it. my dad didnt believe in ghost either but after an experiance 1 night we moved the follong day. lol

  • I know you may not believe me, but when I was young I saw them. All I want you to know is that supernatural beings exist. I was really scared! So if you still doubt it's because you haven't seen one yet.

I believe you 100% when you say when you were young you saw a ghost. We've all seen things we can't explain or make sense of. But that being said I don't believe that your experienced or what you saw was anything that can't be explained by either psychology or some sensible explanation.

I once jumped off a roof and saw stars sparkling everywhere I look...

  • I believe there are spirits and they try to communicate with you, or as  many ghosthunters shows I have watched it can be residual. I had a profound experience one night and it was validated by my dog...I woke up and as laying there I was debating whether or not to get up and I heard a male voice say "and your point is" holy crap and the dog flew out from under the covers and started barking in the direction the voice came from...needless to say I did not get up.

I also have headr a voice say "Mom" as if one of my kids were calling me, and realizing they are in school. I have also heard an older lady ask.."are you here?"  I have heard music, doorbells ringing and waking me up and I get up and no one is there...and then it dawns on me that wasn't even the way my doorbell sounds. I have even seen shadows and feel cold spots that you just know something is there......

I try not to feed into it and sometimes say....oh it is just your imagination.

I will though always love the paranormal.

  • I believe in it, five years ago I was synonymous with a medium of the spirits can speak.ich I felt great. I even have a sound recording.
