  • A Muppets Christmas Carol is my all time most favorite holiday movie.  Michael Caine is brilliant as Scrooge and Rizzo the Rat steals the show.  It is a must see,  it is sad, funny, touching and brillant.

  • Well, my favorite Christmas Movie ever is Home Alone (1,2) with Macaulay Culkin. You simply cannot find a better movie to enjoy on Christmas, together with the loved ones(my opinion), i guess it has it all! Here's a quote from "Kevin" : "You guys give up yet? Or are you thirsty for more?" or one from his Mother : "If it costs me everything I own, if I have to sell my soul to the devil himself, I am going to get home to my son." which says everything smiley. There are a lot more movies, but did not impress me like this one(that's why i'm going to stick with this post only), i've watched it several times over the years and i simply can't get enough, gets better and better. Thanks

  • Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon.  Unmarried couple goes to visit all four of their divorced parents on Christmas Day.  Hilarious!

    Thanks for the wonderful contest.

    medtrans
  • Scrooged with Bill Murray is a personal favorite,  Carol Kane is just too funny for words!!!

These contest have been a blast...thank you!

  • Miracle on 34th St.  (1947 version)

This is just a "feel good" movie. A department store Santa who claims to be the real Santa Claus goes on trial.  Natalie Woods plays a little girl who was raised not to believe in fairy tales finds out that there is a real Santa Claus.

It's a Wonderful Life is often regarded as the greatest Christmas film of all time but for me the original Miracle on 34th Street just beats it. Edmund Gwenn is the perfect Santa and the young Natalie Wood was perfectly cast. It's not stupid of schmaltzy either unlike many contemporary Christmas films and even It's a Wonderful Life for that matter. Not just my favorite Christmas film of all time but one of my overall favorites of all time.

Doris: Would you please tell her that you're not really Santa Claus, that actually is no such person?
Kris Kringle: Well, I hate to disagree with you, but not only IS there such a person, but here I am to prove it.

District Attorney: What is your name?
    Kris Kringle: Kris Kringle.
District Attorney: Where do you live?
Kris Kringle: That's what this hearing will decide.
Judge Henry X. Harper: A very sound answer, Mister Kringle.
District Attorney: Do you really believe that you're Santa Claus?
    Kris Kringle: Of course.
District Attorney: [long pause] The state rests, your honor.

  • I have several favorites but for me number one is:  MIRACLE ON 34th STREET.  It's a true classic.

A couple of quotes from the movie are, "Would you tell her that you're not really Santa Claus and that there is no such person."  and " All right, you go back and tell them that the New York State Supreme Court rules there's no Santa Claus."

    Here' my little secret:
    I still think there's a Santa  grin

  • THE GRINCH  IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE THE LITTLE WHO GIRL IS MY FAVORITE CAUSE WHAT BETTER WAY TO ENJOY A CHRISTMAS SHOW WITH CHILDREN . I RAISED 9 AND ALL LOVED THIS SHOW .

  • Another favorite Christmas movie of mine is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold) is just too funny.

Two quotes from the movie - (Clark is speaking), "I dedicate this house to the Griswold Family Christmas."  And  Art is talking to Clark, " You want to hurry this up, Clark?  I'm freezing my baquettes off."

  • "Its a wonderful life"
"Everytime a bell rings an angel gets it's wings."

  • a Christmas story
Ralphie, a young boy growing up in the '40's, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift. But along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good 'ol Santa Claus himself. My favorite part was when his tongue got stuck to the telephone pole  laugh_out_loud

  • Home Alone part 1 and 2 are the best Christmas movies to watch with your family in this period. Really Macaulay Culkin was the best actor for the role of Kevin McCallister. I enjoy these two movies every year. Three days ago i watched part 1 on TV and next week i will see again the second part. The best scene from the first part is this smiley))) :

    Gangster 'Johnny': Who is it?
Pizza Boy: It's Little Nero's, sir. I have your pizza.
Gangster 'Johnny': Leave it at the doorstep and get the hell outta here.
Pizza Boy: Okay, but what about the money?
    Gangster 'Johnny': What money?
Pizza Boy: Well, you'll have to pay for your pizza, sir.
Gangster 'Johnny': How much do I owe ya?
Pizza Boy: That'll be $11.80, sir.
[Kevin drops the money from the dog door]
Gangster 'Johnny': Keep the change, ya filthy animal.
    Pizza Boy: Cheapskate.
[starts to leave, but is stopped by Johnny's next line]
Gangster 'Johnny': Hey, I'm gonna give you to the count of ten, to get your ugly, yella, no-good keister off my property, before I pump your guts full of lead! 1, 2, 10!
    [machine gun fire]
Gangster 'Johnny': [Pizza Boy runs from the house and speeds away in the delivery car]
[Kevin opens the door and brings the pizza inside]
Kevin McCallister: A lovely cheese pizza, just for me.

Every time i enjoy this scene cheesy
So this is a movie that you cannot forget !

  • if you have not seen Eight Crazy Nights with adam sandler you must watch it.
, no-holds-barred musical comedy Adam Sandler's 8 Crazy Nights. Davey Stone, a 33-year old party animal, finds himself in trouble with the law after his wild ways go too far. Davey thinks he's gotten off easy until he meets Whitey Duvall, the eccentric, elf-like head referee. The mismatch between Whitey's good heart and never-ending optimism and Davey's constant troublemaking soon have them both wondering if going to jail wouldn't have been easier! In this new, full-length animated feature about basketball, old girlfriends, holiday spirits, and the mall.
My favorite song was technical foul

  • The best movie ever

Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town 1970
A mailman reveals the origin of Santa Claus.
It starts many years ago when a baby was left in the care of the Burgermeister Meisterburger (Paul Frees).  Being the mean guy that he is, Burgermeister throws the baby out.  But he winds up in the care of a family of elves named Kringle who happen to be toy makers.

We have a tradition , on the night before Christmas we all gather and we watch it togheter. It`s a good way to start the hollydays.

  • Miracle on 34th Street (1947) - Beautiful...
Fred Gailey: "Look Doris, someday you're going to find that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn't work. And when you do, don't overlook those lovely intangibles. You'll discover those are the only things that are worthwhile".

  • Best Christmas movie: A Christmas Carol
An animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.

  • A Christmas Story is classic.

    Two of my favorite lines....

    "Fra-Gee-Lay. This must be Italian."

"I think that says 'fragile' dear."

    "Oh Fudge."

"Only I didn't say fudge. I said the word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the F dash dash dash word."

  • Also a classic which our family watches every year The Snowman (original title) 1982

Some description: Wordless (save for the song "Walking in the Air") animated adventure about a young English boy who makes a snowman one Christmas Eve, only for it to come to life that night and take him on a magical adventure to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. Written by Jonathan Broxton

  • Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

Love it for several reasons.  The meaning behind it is wonderful and holds true today.

Remember when there were only 4 channels and you had to get up and change the station?  We would
check the TV guide and get giddy waiting for Rudolph to come on Friday night.  The family would all gather together and watch. Ahhh. the memories. smiley

  • And for the best write Tim Burton: (1993)
The Nightmare Before Christmas (original title)
Jack Skellington, king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn't quite understand the concept.

  • My son in law and I have a Christmas tradition of watching A CHRISTMAS CAROL we have watched 15 versions from silent movies to cartoons and musicals. At the end of the story Scrooge has a cup of "Hot Bishop with Crachet. I looked up the victorian recipe and we made it last year. It was made with Port, Sherry and oranges mulled with cloves and spices. It was ok hot but much tastier with ice . I do have one of my favorite quotes

“I don't know what to do!" cried Scrooge, laughing and crying in the same breath; and making a perfect Laocoön of himself with his stockings. "I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to every-body! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!”
keep seeing Patrick Stewart and George C Scott jumping around!

  • 2004)
    The Polar Express (original title)
On Christmas Eve, a doubting boy boards a magical train that's headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus's home.

A great whole family movie for christmas smiley

  • my favorite movie is SCENT OF A WOMAN with al pacino and chris o'donnell
storyline of the movie:Frank is a retired Lt Col in the US army. He's blind and impossible to get along with. Charlie is at school and is looking forward to going to university; to help pay for a trip home for Christmas, he agrees to look after Frank over thanksgiving. Frank's niece says this will be easy money, but she didn't reckon on Frank spending his thanksgiving in New York.
    .
I think I've seen countless times, but every time i watch this movie is a great, great pleasure.

  • Frosty The Snowman

Funny how kids are bored with it today.  They have such high tech graphics on everthing they touch.  When Frosty was on, everyone was in one room, watching together.  Today, it seems family is spread room to room doing their own thing.

My family was watching TV the other day and I said " How is this family time when 2 of you are on
your laptops?"  Technology is great but the old days were better in so many ways.

  • The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus

  • My absolute most favorite Christmas movie is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  I laugh from beginning to end, especially when the squirrel gets in the Christmas tree ... lol.  My daughter and her fiancee have never seen it, which I couldn't believe, so when I pulled it out to play it for them, it wouldn't work  sad

So, I definitely need a new copy, I must have worn the other one out.  Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Our family loves Elf!!  Will Farrell is the best and its so funny.  My girls laugh until they cry.  "ITS SANTA!!!!!!"  His Christmas spirit is contagious.  It puts everyone in the holiday mood and is great family time together.

  • Polar Express is a beautiful movie with a wonderful message...

    Laurie

  • Sometimes I don't know why, I just do.

I choose "Chilly Christmas".  I have never seen it.  I may never see it.  It's my favorite though, and perhaps the reason is so obvious I can't see it.  Can you?

Anchor Bay Collars A "Chilly Christmas"

From Anchor Bay Entertainment, writer/director Gregory Poppen's 2012 family TV movie, "Chilly Christmas" is now available on DVD, starring Tom Arnold, Brooke Langton and C. Thomas Howell :

"...'Bobby Cole' and his dog 'Chilly' are best friends, living happily in their Southern California beach house. But when Bobby’s father 'Patrick' (Thomas Howell), a single parent and police detective, accepts a job in New York City, they must find Chilly a new home.

"In an attempt to show his dad that Chilly can be a city dog, Bobby and his friends teach Chilly the indoor way of life. But Bobby’s dad is not convinced, and it’s not until Christmas Eve when corrupt dog thief 'Mr. Quarterman' (Arnold) breaks into the family home, that Chilly and Bobby can put their new training to the test..."

    It's New!  It's got a dog!  It's...Chilly Christmas!!!

  • Hello all smiley its been a while since I have joined in a conversation here, but I couldn't help but just now seeing this contest and wanted to give it a try. My favorite Christmas Movie is...Home movies from past christmas's! It's such a fun day when you get to sit down with your children and watch movies from when they were younger and see how much they have grown through the years and the expressions on their faces while opening the gifts.  I also enjoy seeing my own home movies from when I was a kid remembering  and celebrating the memories of  people who have past on and no longer here to enjoy these days with us. Cheers to everyone , Silverpeach

  • Another Christmas movie that i like is : How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The role of Grinch was played by Jim Carrey which is also my favourite actor. I watched also the animated version of the movie and read the book last year smiley . Really a nice story !
