Ghost from the past.
A ghost from the future wouldn't mean much to me since I wouldn't know them.
A ghost from the present would still be alive, right?
Ahh...it's been a long day. Would probably help if I had seen the movie.
The ghost of Christmas past is revisiting your life in the past.
The ghost of Christmas present is not looking at the past or the future but living in the moment.
The ghost of Christmas future is taking a glimpse of what your future holds.
The whole idea is to look at your life from the beginning to end and have an opportunity to change it for the better. -

No, to the ghost of the present; if I'm not cognizant enough of the things that matter to me that surround me, I need more help than from a ghost
No, to the future; if I know what's coming, how do I appreciate living each day and enjoying the surprise
No, to the past; how do you learn from your mistakes and grow from them if you can change them, they define who we are today
Thank you, but I opt to try to be the best person I can be as I am and learn and grow each day -

Definitely NOT the past. I'm not very cool with seeing embarassing moments from long ago. The damn ghost would probably be snickering the whole time watching me in bad situations, probly' just shake his head....No I don't think I could handle that. Hey, I already lived that...I don't need a cosmic TIVO set on replay. UH-UH.
As for the present, nah....I think I know what I'm up to at the moment.
Now, I think the future would definitely be worthwhile. I'd especially like to know if I'm going to one day hit it big or be able to retire early. See if there are things to avoid or prepare for. I'd like to know how some of the decisions I make today will affect me and others in the future. The past only gives you regret for what you may or may not have done. I'm Irish and God knows I live with enough guilt already. If I can see what not to do... well, I consider that sage advice. -

I have heard back from the rep for the CWC contest and there is still a slight delay. I need to know the user names at both Lucky Red an Club World Casino. Some have posted and have not indicated which casino or only gave me a user name at one casino.
Please PM both users names at BOTH casinos to me. Please do NOT post them here because it causes to much confusion moving forward with a new contest.
NOTE: This is NOT for the current contest. If you have not entered the CWC or Lucky Red contest please disregard.3.8/ 5

I have to say first of all that we should all also think of the Charles Dickens novel when we think of the movie, but I do know films can be more memorable
Speaking of memory... I think some of us need to revisit the film and the novel for the true lesson here. The ghosts don't change us, we do, they only open our eyes to what we can change. If you already think you are great and have no room to change, life is already over for you. It's a similar psychology at the poker table. If you come in as poker brat, one of my all-time faves to see play, and say, "my xp speaks for itself," as soon as you believe your learning is done, as poker is a microcosm of life, most often your tournament life will soon be over. I am a lifelong learner. JUST MY TWO CENTS!
So which spirit would show the most?
The ghost of Christmas past shows Ebeneezer what in life used to be important. Who remembers what this memory is? In the film version, the memory is of Tiny Tim being helped and of family coming together despite very modest means. This is meant to unjade Ebeneezer about his success and his roots.
The ghost of Christmas present is not to showcase an improv mentality of living in the moment, but to show Ebeneezer what he truly looks like to his friends, family and community despite what he thinks of himself. Finding an accurate image of yourself is difficult. The lesson here is that Ebeneezer believes gold coins and wealth are the most important things in life, but unless you can see yourself making the mistake in 3rd person (video evidence, or, more likely, a prominent manifestation of the mistake in your dreams), you may never realize you are in error in your family or society. Usually this ghost imparts a lesson related to a cardinal virtue currently ignored.
The ghost of Christmas Future is meant to be a wake-up call to a possible reality should Ebeneezer continue his selfish ways. This part can be sad and scary because it appears to be the only way forward in life. The tricky part is that if Ebeneezer can change, so can the temporal life events that follow. IF Ebeneezer can become a better person, more generous to those who need help, as cheesy as it is, he will find that the greatest wealth of all is in PEOPLE... IT IS...
FAMILY!!!! This is the ultimate lesson. The host that I would like to be visited by so I could see thins I never couldve seen myself is... ghost of Christmas Past.
All other ghosts represent parts of the self that arent necessarily fixed, they represent what might be true of your self. Past is tradition, past reminds us of the way forward and provides nostalgia as an emotion so that we as humans desire to recreate good nature into perpetuity.
I would learn the most from The ghost of Christmas Past. -

Short & sweet; I have already learned my lessons from mistakes of the past and I would not want to live everyday second guessing everything I do as to what effect it would have on the future. The ghost of Christmas Present would be most helpful to see the type of person I truly am and how I affect others.

I haven't hosted Christmas in a few years so I decided to do it this year.
I felt the need to keep busy this December so I painted and redecorated one of my son's room. I then moved on to the basement and painted the bathroom. It has black counters with a black and white floor. I painted that red and redecorated it. I love it. I then moved on to the entire basement. OMG... my neck and back are killing me. I used 9 gallons of paint. It looks so much more homey for us and for our guests.
We will be having 38 people over. I am mulling over the menu, love to bake. I made several dozen Christmas cookies already. I washed all the Christmas dinnerware. It's funny my husband cleaned out drawers and cabinets...as if anyone will look inside..lol or would care if the utensils were askew.
I wasn't sure if I even felt in the mood to decorate for Christmas this year but felt the need, as Lips posted in GD, to carry on traditions to honor memories of Christmas with mom. I am glad I did, I think it is important for myself as well as my kids.
I hope everyone's home is filled with family, friends, love and happiness this Christmas. I only wish my dad was here....he felt it would be too hard for him and he would break down too often. I have to respect his decision and hope to see him soon. -

I haven't done one thing to prepare for Christmas. I can remember times in my life where it seemed the whole month of December was nothing BUT getting ready for Christmas, shopping for presents and food for Christmas dinner, and listening as the church choir rehearsed the Christmas Cantata.
The past few years I've pretty much come to realize that my resources and energy have dwindled when it comes to being an active participant in the celebration. I start out with the excitement popping up a bit in my thoughts. Then as Thanksgiving gives way to frantic mobs of frenzied shoppers, and the traffic suddenly becomes impossible, I get a little of the bah hum-bug going on. I know I can't afford the presents I want to give, and there isn't going to be any snow anywhere near. I'm too big/old to go wait in line to see Santa, and I wouldn't know what to put on my list except $$$ which is always welcome and necessary.
By the beginning of the 12 days of Christmas, I'm wishing I could do something nice for the grandkids, but then I remember I most likely won't see any of the kids or grandkids as they are too far away and gas is too expensive. Here it is 4 days until the big day and the only decorations I have up is the Christmas Card montage I've had hanging on the living room wall for the last three years. In a way, Christmas never leaves around here, and it never comes, either.
Now, I don't feel bad about the way things are. In fact, I have a little scene somewhere in the back of my mind where things turn back around again. Where Christmas is like when I was a child - full of wonder and surprise and good things. My family is there, it's peaceful and joyful and everyone is happy and in good spirits of the season. Where my house is where they come for Christmas, however far away they are. Where I have a tree that is surrounded by a sea of presents and there is always 'one more' hidden away in the branches, and it's what I always wanted! Whatever that may be.
Besides all of the Christmas movies on TV reminding me of what time of year it is, THIS is the place where I've been most immersed in the holidays. I'll be spending my Christmas day here chatting up the excitement at the bingo sites, hoping to hear of some lucky folks here winning some of the Christmas cash that is up for grabs there and at the casinos. My LCB family will be stopping in, there'll be no dishes to wash or empty boxes to gather and dispose of. We may not be happy with some of our 'gifts' and we may not be lucky campers when it comes to a big Christmas win, but I know we will all be sharing thoughts of each other and checking in to see if there isn't just *one* more free code out there we haven't discovered. Good Luck this holiday season to my friends here. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to us all! -

My family celebrates Christmas by spending an entire day together and taking time to appreciate what we have just as a family and how lucky we are to be having each other around and food on the table. No cell phones, no computers. Just good family time and a nice dinner. We exchange some gifts but nothing crazy.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas!
As for today being "The end of the world" I know for a fact nothing happens because I have friends and they are in the future (time zone) and they are all ok

Not even gonna try for todays contest. Womp Womp.
If its an open-ended response contest I cant seem to win. Wouldnt say it if it was first time of occurrence obviously since losers must accompany winners. Lots of contests Ive entered thoughtfully over the years with LCB and I think best answers should win even if they won the most recent contest. It just takes away from the incentive to provide a quality in-depth answer the next time around. Winners not really answering questions or putting time into answers gets me going. I guess it needs to be a fixed trivia answer or most points/answers contest for me to win. Congrats to all Christmas Contest winners so far and I do understand I am bound by mod/admin decisions in any case. Also am grateful just to win a bingo prize. I know its difficult to try to please everyone but its a contest. Put your best effort answers up if moneys on the line. Sorry my keyboard is messing up so that makes an effort all the more painstaking. hope theres no hard feelings, you guys know I speak my mind, as it is our civic duty but I also let you know when things are good! Works both ways. I know what its like to budget, plan, and execute incentives and contests for forum groups so I feel your pain. See you in a few days glglglglgl *QUALITY MATTERS* -

Even though my girls are grown, I still try and do everything I did when they were little and still believed in Santa Claus. I put up lights and decoratemthe whole house. I stay up practically all night Christmas Eve wrapping their presents and putting them under the Christmas tree, just as Santa would. They still get up early to see what "Santa" has brought them. I stil video them as them come down the stairs with that surprised look on their faces and open their gifts. I love my girls and Christmas and always want them to be happy.

glaughnan, you have won TWICE at this contest already and yet have the nerve to make this post.
Also per Contest terms LCB decision is final :
[quote]7. Winners are to be determined by the sole discretion of LCB.
Therefore I'm using my discretional right to disqualify you from further participating at this Xmas contest.
Dear LCB'ers I felt obligated to reply to glaughnan, however please note that in the spirit of this Xmas contest lets not derail any further and let the fun continue.
And finally I want to thank everyone who participated so far and big congrats to the previous winners.
cheers

This isn't really prepping for Christmas but we do have a tradition of going to a movie on Christmas Day.
Thank God we already found a 'family' movie for this year. Don't recall the name but it stars Billy Crystal.
We have seen some great family movies but had 3 disappointments. Last year, my daughter picked the 3rd sequel of The Fockers which was advertised as being about the twins....wrong. erections and sex talk galore. Talk about uncomfortable.
We saw I am Legend. Not so great for a family Christmas movie.
Also... Marley and Me. Didn't know the ending when we walked in....walked out Christmas afternoon....sobbing.
Oh well... at least we have something to talk about regarding our Tradition. -

For my husband and I, Christmas is just another day of the week. Our kids don't live close by anymore so it just isn't the same. Getting old has definitely got its positives and negatives and these two old birds (hubby & me) have just had to roll with it and adjust.

Now that my kids are grown, I haven't had the motivation to pull out box upon box of decorations or even get a tree. We will have one this year though, thanks to my daughter moving in with my grandaughter. The one thing I have done to prepare is to put my casino deposits for December towards gifts. (I'm sure the casinos aren't happy to hear that but it had to be done and boy was it hard for me).
I would like to add that after reading some of the posts, I realize how lucky I am. My parents, brother, sisters, 5 children and 4 grandchildren all live close by. Christmas will be spent at my sisters with all of them. I can't imagine not seeing my children and grandchildren as often as I do. -

I spend Christmas going to my daughters house 5 doors down to watch my twin gradaughters open presents along with their older brothers then travel 10 minutes to sons house and watch the triplette grandsons (same age as grandaughters) open their presents along with younger brother and older cousin. Then we have a big breakfast and enjoy each others company and watch kids play with toys/games.
