  • Yep last I knew, social security number on a W9 form, and an ID to process winnings.  People claim it's not out of the norm to request this stuff for a sweep stakes.  Which it isn't, if this was a normal sweep stakes being ran by a reputable US company.  Yet when the person running the actual promotion is out of Cyprus.  This sends a big huge red flag up in my book.  On this form there going to get your social security number, date of birth, and address.  Basically enough information to cause a big stink with your credit, and allow them to open a bank account in your name, credit card, buy a house, you name it.  I really think anyone giving this much information away just to play at online casino.  Must be really desperate for that "rush" of a win.  To send that much personal information off to a place that doesn't really have any accreditation anywhere.
I'm nervous on giving a copy of my ID and credit cards.  Even with information blacked out.  Let alone give out my social security number in full form.

  • I know everyone has ignored me on the subject, and I'm sure everyone is ecstatic that there's for once a casino that has the processing and CS operations in the US.
As for the processing issues, I could have seen that coming from a mile away.  Mainly because there taunting the DOJ by saying.  Were not a casino, were a sweepstakes.  When pretty much you can tell what there mainly for.

Hey now, your taking some of my material, come up with your own stuff.  laugh_out_loud , yes I agree with you about people not listening.  I made the same post a while back, not one comment.  You are right, people get overally excited, their heads get in the clouds and dont think of any consequences.  Kind of the same reason people continue to play known rogues, same reason why people provide personal information to rogues, and the same reason why they think its ok.  Its like a bad drug problem that is hard to kick.

It is only a matter of time before something happens.  If they have it planned right they will probably bolt before DOJ catches them.  They can stall people on payments for a good while, collect the deposits and take off.  They will probably be able to take off with plenty of money.
  • if anyone gives up that information......you get what you deserve...it is ABSOLUTELY NOT required....you are giving your identity to an organization that knows they are breaking the law....and they know that you know you are breaking the law...think about it and put a fraud alert on your credit report before you have that bahamas dream house you never knew existed

  • this casino asks for you SOCIAL SECURITY number??

Yep! And most RTG casinos wants the last 4 digits of your SS# to deposit by Credit Card.
  • well i say if they can buy a house in my name then good luck to them i keep no credit cards and no charge card accts nothing on credit so if they can get some i would like to see ...

in all honesty....it sounds like you are not very familiar with how identity theft works.....an absolute moron could steal someones identity with their social security number if they wanted to.....you dont need to have credit cards....they open new ones.....PLEASE.....google how easy this could be and protect yourself.....put a fraud alert on your information.....you are living a major lie if you think it couldnt happen to you......someone else please feel free to chime in with more facts

"Stealing an identity" can happen to anyone that plays at any online casino.  When you provide a casino you personal information, that is enough information to find even more information about the customer, including locating your ss# quite easily. Now if you deposit with a bank account or credit card, now they have that information.  Using or selling  bank information or credit card is the most common type of problem you will see with online gambling.  I see a lot of people using free chips at evil casinos, and people say,  no big deal if i dont get paid, becuase i expect that going in.  Then that individual makes that first required deposit and bam they have your information.  So it really is a big deal playing a rogue casino.
Providing a ss# to this group is something to be concerned about.  Again like I said before if they wanted it they can get it, providing it is just making it easier in the case they do want to do something fraudelent with it (ie, sell it).  I would be concerned with them just having the information in general.  I am sure the reason they want your ss# is for "reporting" purposes.  That means they are saying they will report your winnings to the Fed.  Do I think they really do?  I am not sure, but if they do, then that is another concern.  Once DOJ calls this sweepstakes illegal and cleos has your ss# or did report earnings, now the Fed has you as commiting a crime.  Will the Fed ever do anything to the players?  Not sure, I would have to say I doubt it, but you never know, that could be the next fight against illegal gambling.
