Back

Online gaming brand, LeoVegas Gaming Plc are one of the first casino operators to have their Swedish iGaming license approved by the authorities. As such, they will be granted a permission to offer their online casino and sports betting services in Sweden starting next year.

Sweden Takes it Up a Notch

Swedish online gambling has been under a complete overhaul for more than a year, as the gambling market in this country was facing a massive issue concerning unlicensed operators flooding the iGaming scene.

The re-regulated market is going to kick off in less than a month – January 1st 2019...

...Country's gambling regulatory body, Lotteriinspentionen has instated a new licensing technique that will come with much sterner measures for all who don't comply to new rules.

The licensing process itself will be significantly more selective than before:

Only those brands that were given a license will be permitted to run business in Sweden while all others will be closed down.

LeoVegas Does it All by the Book

Such a climate constitutes a perfect setting for LeoVegas...

...the company focuses solely on regulated markets and those in the process of being regulated, as the new corporate strategy is outlined for next year. 35% of company's revenue comes from regulated markets and activities in newly-regulated Sweden could boost this figure to 60% in first half of 2019.

Sweden is a very important market for LeoVegas

As the company's CEO, Gustav Hagman puts it, LeoVegas is the most well-known online casino brand in Sweden. On being licensed in this country, he says:

"Finally - we have been waiting for this day for a long time and is a milestone in LeoVegas history! We have worked hard with the extensive application process and I am very proud of our work. LeoVegas currently has gaming licenses in several countries and has thus broad experience operating in a regulated environment.”

Sustainable Gaming is the Way to Go

Hagman adds that the company has invested substantially in responsible gambling in recent years, which is a segment that will make up a fundamental part of their operations in the years to come.

“Being among the first operators to receive a gambling licence is a quality seal and affirms LeoVegas as a leading, long-term and serious actor in the industry. LeoVegas is the most well-known online casino brand in Sweden.[1] We believe we offer the best mobile gaming experience. This combination is hard to beat and gives us a strong position in our home market where we continue to grow,” he said.

Their focus on responsible gambling has pushed them forward towards producing LeoSafePlay as a standalone business based on machine learning and AI.

Also, the company has – using their wealth of experience from doing business on regulated markets – developed marketing methods that allow them to offer gaming experiences in a sustainable way – specifically, this means that the registry of players who have opted to close their accounts serves as a tool in responsible gambling.
