Churchill Downs Incorporated, the parent company of Churchill Downs and one of the leading brands in live and historical racing continues to expand its network of enterprises by opening new sophisticated gambling complexes. Presented as the ground-breaking investment of $290m, Terre Haute Casino Resort in Indiana is the most recently inaugurated facility.

In addition to enabling the company an opportunity to enter the entertainment market of Indiana, the construction of this resort provided a plethora of employment opportunities. Aside from nearly 1,000 construction jobs generated during the construction phase, this gambling facility is expected to bring more than 550 positions, both full-time and part-time.

Impressive Selection of Gambling Options

The grand opening of Terre Haute Casino Resort in Terre Haute, Indiana took place on April 5, 2024. Owned by Churchill Downs, the $290m-worth gambling complex is packed with an abundance of gaming options, namely- 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games including blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker tables, plus sportsbook. Altogether, the gaming space occupies a large space of 400,000 square feet.

Pointing out that the grand opening of this facility confirms that promises the corporation made for the community are kept and delivered, Bill Carstanjen, CDI CEO, said that it represents “just the beginning of what this project can do for Vigo County and the State of Indiana.”

As for the construction itself, it was done in cooperation with Wilhelm Construction in June 2022 on 49 acres on East Margaret Drive just west of State Road 46 in Terre Haute, Indiana. A year later, the Wilhelm Construction team, elected officials, local community leaders, and Terre Haute senior leadership gathered to celebrate multiple milestones achieved.

An All-Encompassing Player Experience

The casino was the first venue to officially start welcoming guests whereas the remaining venues are scheduled for opening on May 15, 2024. Those are a 122-room luxury hotel with premium-class amenities, alongside a rooftop lounge and coffee shop.

Also, the property will feature five restaurants and six bars including the regionally inspired Four Cornered Steakhouse, Altitude Bar & Lounge, Four Cornered Steakhouse, Rockwood Bar & Grill, The Soda Shoppe, Crossroads Center Bar and High Limit Bar, allowing each and every guest to enjoy the finest selection of dishes and highly diversified assortment of drinks.

Mayor of Terre Haute, Brandon Sakbun noted:
