No chance for Arsenal and Napoli, even though both managed to score away goals. Arsenal had a 1-1 draw to defend at half time and they conceded four goals in the second half.
Bayern Munich 5 - 1 Arsenal
Real Madrid 3 - 1 Napoli

ReadLeicester give a fight to Sevilla and they're pretty much in the clash quite surprisingly for me, I thought it would be decided in the first match, so if they go trough in the CL I could bet they'll be relegated.
Juventus won deservedly at Porto and it wasn't surprise I think despite that Portuguese are great at home, they played 10 man trough whole the game after early sent off.
Leicester got a good result at Sevilla, they are still in with a chance to go through.
Sevilla 2 - 1 Leicester
Yes but they will have to do it with new manager ahead, Ranieri was sacked today, and there was a rumours for a few weeks but it's still a bit of shocking decision to me, the man just win them a title few months back, obviously nobody could be certain of his job in this business.
Yeah, it's so sad for Ranieri. On the other hand, any other manager in his place would have been sacked months ago, this season's results and performance were just terrible.
You're probably right about that Johnny although I doubt this Asian billionaire owner and his son the chairman are too aware of how to manage a football club, there's lack of patience these days for sure.
I wonder what the part in all this of the potential conflict between Ranieri and the players which was mentioned in the media too. Previous City manager (Nigel Pierson) was also sacked or he leaved - don't remember exactly in odd circumstances so...this is a stereotype maybe.
Both Arsenal and Napoli were leading 1-0 at half-time, but then they got taught a bit of a lesson. Arsenal were particularly humiliated, conceding 10 goals in two matches is way too much for a club that spends dozens of millions on player wages and transfers.
Arsenal 1 - 5 Bayern Munich
Napoli 1 - 3 Real Madrid

That doesn't look right a Johnny?
You're right after all these spent millions English sides don't have an excuses really, no matter if this is Bayern, Barcelona, Real or Juventus you just have to compete with those teams no matter what when you have some of the most expensive and highest paid players in the world.
In the Arsenal's case I think it's about lack of character in the team not class, they showed that over the years in England too when we look at the big games.
I think Arsenal has 19!! in a road CL appearances and guess what - last 7 seasons(including this) they left the tournament at R of 16!! Is that a persistent failure or what??
Arsenal is the freshest example but I think all English top sides under-perform in Europe, look what happened to Spurs against Gent in UEFA league, team that they outplayed with a 10 man in the second match and still not managed to beat.
The explanation is pretty simple I think - too much respect to the opponents and ill-famed inability of the English sides in defence to hinder, balk, clog or whatever you like to call it the opponents, just attack the man with the ball, never give him a free space. But they don't doing that and just allow the opponent to play their game, the whole concept of the English system for the defence is wrong I think but that is also a reflection of the British character and how these people think I guess.
Barcelona performed a miracle tonight, not only that they overturned the four-goal deficit from the first leg, but they scored the last two goals in stoppage time! I still can't believe what they have done there. Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund stormed past Benfica with a hat-trick from Aubameyang.
Barcelona 6 - 1 Paris SG
Dortmund 4 - 0 Benfica

Barcelona have done it, do they!
To be honest in the pre-game I expected Barcelona to make life tough for PSG and even being close in the total score but after PSG scored a goal second half I thought it's over.
What can I say, all the money in the world can buy you a character really!
Great result for Dortmund too and they looking great lately.
Amazing achievement for Leicester, quite a proud day for the club. Sevilla had their fair share of mistakes, Nasri got sent off and then N'Zonzi missed a penalty kick on 80 minutes.
Leicester 2 - 0 Sevilla
Yes great achievement for them, they really look like a last season team now, and Sevilla understood CL is not UEFA league ;)
Schmeichel with couple of great penalty saves in both legs was one of the main reasons but I really think Sevilla lost the clash first leg when they really should it won with 3 clear goals maybe, lucky or not it was a great effort from the Leicester players.
Two more places in the quarter-finals up for grabs, and one seems already taken by Atletico Madrid. But who knows what can happen, anything seems possible after Barcelona's exploit last week. Here are the odds at NetBet:
Monaco vs Man City
2.45 - 3.85 - 2.65
Atletico Madrid vs Leverkusen
1.58 - 4.15 - 5.75
Good luck!
Monaco pulled it off, great result for them. Guardiola will need to sort out that defence, it's pretty much embarrassing.
Monaco 3 - 1 Manchester City
You can check my prediction about this one on the game preview in the news section Johnny ;)
I think that 5-3 in the first game was completely unfair result and it happened because of the some really huge gk's and defence mistakes. Tonight Monaco once again were completely dominant in first half but in the second they just sit back in defence and City took control, I really don't think City are that good how everybody thinks of them, the PL sides threaten them with too much respect but in the CL they've been exposed for many years now!
I'm not going to gloat about their defeat but they just proved English sides are not adequate to the European football and they are the English team which plays closest style to that of European top sides with all the little tricks, simulations, and all the talks with refs even when it's just a matter of a throw in...anyway Monaco overcome them with what... 20.. 50.. times smaller budget?!

Yes, I remember your prediction :) Spot on!
Didn't wanted to sounds like I'm bragging, but obviously looks that way now :-[ :)
The draw is tomorrow and I'm curious about it, I'd like to see let's say...Barca - Real quarter :)
With 3 Spanish teams again there, there's really a possibility to change the name of the competition from CL to SCL ;)
So don't want to see another Spanish winners..unless they are...Atletico Madrid ;)
Who doesn’t like to see let's say Dortmund - Monaco final, couldn't be much more entertaining than that ;) butt hat could happen only in the ideal world I'm afraid.
Somehow the three Spanish teams managed to avoid each other, we could have three of four semi-finalists from Spain!
Atletico Madrid v Leicester City
Borussia Dortmund v Monaco
Bayern Munich v Real Madrid
Juventus v Barcelona
First legs to be played on 11 & 12 April, second legs on 18 & 19 April.
Somehow the three Spanish teams managed to avoid each other, we could have three of four semi-finalists from Spain!
Yes it's possible Johnny, as it's possible to have.. none !!
I'm really expecting rest of the European teams to step up and break the Spanish domination this time round.
Still I think Dortmund - Monaco clash should be the most entertaining one despite all the eyes will be oriented in the other couple of games.
Great win for Juventus, Barcelona might not be able to turn this around as Juventus seem more solid mentally and defensively than PSG. Elsewhere, Dortmund vs Monaco was postponed for today after Borussia's bus with all the players in it was attacked with explosives. No victims fortunately, except Marc Bartra who got himself injured.
Juventus 3 - 0 Barcelona
Great victory for Monaco in Germany, we'll surely have a spectacular second leg in this tie. Leicester managed to get a narrow defeat at Atletico, while Real Madrid fought back in the second half after Bayern had 1-0 and a missed penalty kick at half time.
Dortmund 2 - 3 Monaco
Atl. Madrid 1 - 0 Leicester
Bayern Munich 1 - 2 Real Madrid
It's all over, Real Madrid became the first team to successfully defend a Champions League trophy. Juventus played a solid first half as Mandzukic scored a beautiful goal to make it all square after Cristiano Ronaldo had put Real ahead. But then Juventus didn't see to turn up at all for the second half, Real Madrid totally dominated them and ran away with it. Juventus let in three goals in the Champions League all season, but conceded just as many in the last 45 minutes of the final.
Juventus 1 - 4 Real Madrid
Yeah I thought Juventus could stop Spannish domination in the CL but obviously they were far away from doing so...you're right Johnny - seems like they weren't on the field for at least the first 20 mins on the second half.
There were lucky bounces in both first and second Real goals but that couldn't be an excuse for Juventus, I said to a friend before the game that Juve centre backs performance would decide the end result in the game and I think no one from Chiellini, Bonucci or Barzagli were on the needed level and of course neither as a group too.
In the end I think Zidane aggressive approach with all these "traps" in the middle of the field was the keen for Real success and that just showed that Zidane has a "bigger balls" than Allegri if you know what I mean.
