Sweet Caroline Banned from Penn State

The Neil Diamond classic “Sweet Caroline" was banned from being played at Football games at Penn State. After news of crimes of sexual abuse committed by Jerry Sandusky, the athletic association banned the song due to the lyrics “touching you, touching me". The song has been played and enjoyed by fans at games for years.

Sandusky, 68, the former longtime Penn State defensive coordinator was convicted back in June of 48 counts of abusing 10 boys over a 15-year period.

What do you think about the banning of the song? A bit extreme or totally understandable?

Ridiculous. 

I could see if they wanted to ban 'down with the sickness', maybe.

lmaoooooo yeah me too chilly but this is over the top.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous. Talk about twisting the whole concept of the song with two consenting lovers in the throes of passion and putting a neg spin on it. Whoever drummed that one up is the real sicko!

On top of all that, Sweet Caroline is a girl.  If you get what I mean. 

I agree with Chilly and Lips on this one, ridiculous is the perfect word to describe this decision.

I think that it should be played at EVERY Penn State game, as a CONSTANT reminder of what that monster did to those kids! I think the games should be piped into Sandusky's jail cell every Saturday and ALL the inmates join in when they sing the "touching me, touching you" line! Just sayin'!

Great song and this is undoubtfully a very stupid decision. This is a work of a twisted mind.
