  • Event: Giro d'Italia Stage 8

Bet: Taylor Phinney to win stage 8

    Odds: 17.00

    Sportsbook: Paddy Power

    Stake: 2/10

    Projected profits: 32.00

This is a bit of a long shot but I think it's worth taking. Sir Bradley Wiggins is by far the favourite to win today's time trial stage and if the weather is fine he will probably win it. But I have checked the weather forecast and it seems there will be rain and Wiggins is well known for his inability to perform in such conditions. If it rains as the forecasts predict American youngster Taylor Phinney will have a real shot at winning this stage. So I guess it's worth taking with reduced stakes.

  • Phinney had a terrible day, so the prediction was wrong.

  • Event: Fabio Fognini vs Andreas Seppi, ATP Rome

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.88

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.04

This should be a close match between the top two Italian players at the moment. Both of them will be determined to do well in front of the home crowd so there might be quite a bit of tension added as well. The last two matches between them ended in three close sets, last year in Bucharest and a few weeks ago in Monte Carlo.

  • The prediction proved wrong because Seppi played a very bad match, lost 6-4 6-1.

  • Event: Grigor Dimitrov vs Richard Gasquet, ATP Rome

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.82

    Sportsbook: 12Bet

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 6.56

Gasquet always had good runs in this tournament, reached semi finals and quarter finals in the past seasons. He is a slight favourite in this match since he has won all three previous meetings against Dimitrov, but the Bulgarian is a much better player now, seems to be having lots of confidence this days. An important fact is that none of the two matches they played last year ended in straight sets. I think it will be a close match and Dimitrov might even win it.

  • Quite a surprise in my view, Gasquet won 6-4 6-4.

  • Event: Novak Djokovic vs Aleksandr Dolgopolov, ATP Rome

    Bet: Over 18.5 games

    Odds: 1.73

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 5.84

Djokovic is obviously the big favourite here, he should beat Dolgopolov. But I don't think it will be that easy, especially since Dolgopolov is well-rested after advancing thanks to Wawrinka's withdrawal yesterday. Dolgopolov is a very talented and surprising player and he always is motivated when playing against the top dogs. Djokovic has beaten him in both previous meetings but it never was easy, Dolgopolov even took a set when they met last year in Monte Carlo. So I think Nole will win but not easily.

  • Wrong prediction again, even by just one game. I guess I have to pause for a few days and wait for better inspiration.

  • Event: Sloane Stephens - Tsvetana Pironkova, WTA Brussels

    Bet: Stephens -4.5 games

    Odds: 1.90

    Sportsbook: BetWay

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.20

Stephens is the clear favourite here in my view, she seemed to play well in Rome after a pretty bad period, won a couple of good matches before getting beaten by Sharapova. Pironkova on the other hand is going through a terrible period of time, won just one of her last 10 official matches! Pironkova doesn't seem to be doing too well on clay so I guess Stephens does have a chance of winning this match comfortably. The only previous meeting between the two was won by Stephens last year, 6-4 6-1.

  • The match was interrupted but the prediction has already proven wrong because Stephens had a blackout in the second set, lost 6-2, after winning the first one 6-3. It was 2-2 in the third set when it was interrupted.

  • Event: Tobias Kamke vs Aljaz Bedene, ATP Dusseldorf

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 2.08

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 8.64

Bedene is in good shape, defeated Davydenko against the odds in the previous round, and lost just two of his last 10 matches, all of them on clay. Kamke is better ranked and has the support of the home fans, so he should put up a good fight as well. I think this can't be a short match.

  • Kamke won 6-1 6-4, a whole lot easier than I had expected...

  • Event: Baltimore Orioles - New York Yankees, MLB

Bet: Yankees to win (including overtime)

    Odds: 1.91

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.28

Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda is in brilliant shape for around a month now, had seven consecutive quality starts, while allowing just eight runs during that period. The Yankees are 6-1 in those seven starts, including Kuroda’s complete game five hit shutout victory over the same Orioles lineup that he’ll face today.  Baltimore’s Jason Hammel is having some confidence problems, lit up for 27 hits and 17 earned runs in just 14.2 innings of work over his last three starts.

  • Event: Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich, Champions League Final

    Bet: Under 2.5 goals

    Odds: 2.11

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 8.88

The biggest match of the football season in Europe, a clash between the best teams in German football. As much as I would want to see lots of goals in this match I think it won't be the case, the two teams know each other perfectly since they are playing in the same league and the importance of the match will make them both cautious. In fact, they have met three times this season and all the matches ended with 2 goals or less: two 1-1 draws in the league and a 1-0 victory for Dortmund in the German Cup.

  • The prediction was correct with one minute left in the match but unfortunately Robben scored in the last minute to give Bayern a 2-1 win and the trophy. It was a great match.

  • Event: Sergiy Stakhovsky - Richard Gasquet, French Open

    Bet: Under 32.5 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 7.47

Gasquet is the clear favourite here and I don't think a player like Stakhovsky can pose too many problems. Gasquet always seems to play very well at the French Open while Stakhovsky is a player that is more suited to faster courts, having a negative career record on clay. The last meeting between the two was at the 2011 US Open and that time Gasquet won in straight sets, I expect a similar outcome today.

  • The prediction was correct, Gasquet won 6-1, 6-4, 6-3.

  • Event: Benoit Paire vs Marcos Baghdatis, French Open

    Bet: Under 35.5 games

    Odds: 2.00

    Sportsbook: Bet365

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 8.00

Paire is in great shape, he reached the semi finals last week in Rome after beating top players like Del Potro and Monaco. He will be highly motivated to do well in front of the French fans as a good run here might also take him into the world top 20. Baghdatis doesn't do well on clay, has no wins on this surface this year, just three defeats. I don't think the Cypriot player will pose any problems to Paire, whose last two losses on clay this season were to out of this world players like Nadal and Federer. The odds are very good for under 35.5 games, worth a try.

  • The prediction was wrong because Paire had some concentration problems in the first set and dropped it 6-3. Then he regained some composure and won the following three 7-6, 6-4, 6-4, but too late to matter for this bet.

  • Event: Los Angeles Kings at Chicago Blackhawks, NHL

Bet: Chicago to win (overtime included)

    Odds: 1.63

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 10/10

    Projected profits: 6.30

This is game one of the Western Conference Finals and Chicago are slight favourites, but they had lots of overtime games this season so I'd go with the safer overtime included option. The Kings are not doing well on the road, won just one out of the last 11 matches away from home, so I believe the Blackhawks will win this one. Chicago won 2 of the three matches against the Kings this season but all of them were mighty close.

  • The prediction was correct, Chicago won 2-1.

  • Event: Stanislas Wawrinka - Richard Gasquet, French Open

    Bet: Over 39.5 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: William Hill

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 6.64

This has all the ingredients to be an epic match, both players are in great shape and full of confidence and both will be determined to pull through. Strangely they have met only once before, and that was all the way back in 2006. That time Gasquet won in straight sets but it surely won't be that easy this time as Wawrinka is one of the world's top players on clay at the moment.

  • This is a very interesting one! I'm surely going to watch Wawrinka - Gasquet match.

  • This is a very interesting one! I'm surely going to watch Wawrinka - Gasquet match.

Not disappointed so far, three close sets and Wawrinka fought back from two sets down! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Stan ;)

  • They both are great players, and I hope you picked well. It seems like it is to be a hell of a match.

  • They both are great players, and I hope you picked well. It seems like it is to be a hell of a match.

The pick has already proven correct as the match entered its fifth set. There were no less than 45 games so far! (7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 5-7).

  • Event: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Roger Federer, French Open

    Bet: Tsonga +3.5 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: Stan James

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 6.64

This could be the match of the day at Roland Garros, Tsonga is in great shape and he will also benefit from the support of the French crowd. Federer is a top class player, of course, but he seemed a bit shaky lately against top 10 opponents. I believe Tsonga could even win this match but even if he loses it he won't lose it by much, hence the asian handicap choice.

  • I believe this one will go out to Roger. He did seem a bit shaky as you said, but I believe he can pick up the pace :)

  • I believe this one will go out to Roger. He did seem a bit shaky as you said, but I believe he can pick up the pace :)

Not really, Tsonga thrashed him. I was quite surprised of the result to be honest, 7-5 6-3 63 for the Frenchman. The pick was correct though ;)

  • Event: Novak Djokovic vs Tommy Haas, French Open

    Bet: Over 33.5 games

    Odds: 1.80

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 6.40

Djokovic is the obvious favourite here but I don't think he will have an easy afternoon against veteran Haas. The German player has been in exceptional form lately, he has absolutely nothing to lose and I believe he will show us some wonderful tennis once again. Djokovic had quite a few problems en route to the quarter finals so I believe it will be either a close three-setter or Haas will even manage to snatch a set.

  • I ended up by watching most of the matches to my surprise.

Good pick on Tsonga! I was surprised to see that goes so easy.. Well, maybe a time for Roger to take a deep breath and think about what to do next. He still is one of, if not the best, there ever was.

As for Djokovic, I believe he won't have an easy match, but will make it through. I think he has a good chance of winning the tournament, although not at his best. His first trainer (a really nice old lady) has died a few days ago, and I have a feeling he will dedicate the tournament to her.

I believe this one will go out to Roger. He did seem a bit shaky as you said, but I believe he can pick up the pace :)

Not really, Tsonga thrashed him. I was quite surprised of the result to be honest, 7-5 6-3 63 for the Frenchman. The pick was correct though ;)

  • The pick on Djokovic vs Haas was correct, Nole won in straight sets but the score was 63 76 75, exactly 34 games.

  • Event: Victoria Azarenka vs Maria Sharapova, French Open

    Bet: Sharapova to win

    Odds: 1.85

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 6.80

Sharapova will be full of confidence after a superb fightback against Jankovic, when he dropped the first set 6-0 but then fought her way back to victory. Azarenka is a very dangerous opponent, of course, and she has the edge in the head to head comparison, but it's worth mentioning that she never beat Sharapova on clay. I think Sharapova will win and probably defend her title eventually.

  • The prediction was correct, Sharapova won in three sets: 6-1, 2-6, 6-4

  • Event: David Ferrer vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, French Open

    Bet: Tsonga to win

    Odds: 2.30

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 5/10

    Projected profits: 6.50

Ferrer is the favourite here, has a much better track record on clay and Tsonga has only defeated him once, at Wimbledon. However, the clay at Roland Garros is pretty fast and that my give Tsonga a slight advantage. Moreover, the Frenchman is highly motivated and will surely receive great support from the crowd. I believe that an upset is possible here, worth taking with small to medium stakes.

Did they give you any reason when blocking the account? Maybe you have done something against their terms and conditions?

    3.6/ 5

  • Wrong prediction this time, Ferrer thrashed Tsonga in straight sets.

  • Event: Florian Mayer vs Martin Fischer, ATP Halle

    Bet: Fischer +4 games

    Odds: 1.90

    Sportsbook: BetWay

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.20

Mayer is the big favourite here, more than 200 positions ahead of Fischer in the ATP rankings, so he will probably win it. But an upset is possible, Fischer is coming from the qualifying rounds, has won three straight matches, while Mayer had rather poor results lately and might have some problems adjusting to the grass court, which is not one of his favourites overall anyway. I think we might see a close match and the Asian Handicap option might be worth taking.

  • Seems I have overestimated Fischer, Mayer won 6-2 6-2.

  • Event: Gael Monfils vs Milos Raonic, ATP Halle

    Bet: Monfils to win

    Odds: 2.75

    Sportsbook: Paddy Power

    Stake: 4/10

    Projected profits: 7.00

Monfils is the favourite in this match but I don't think that the odds reflect the real value of these two players, the bookies seem to underestimate Monfils. It's true that he's coming from a whole year on the sidelines due to injury but he seemed in solid shape at Roland Garros and more determined than ever to climb back up the rankings. Raonic is a good player on fast courts, no doubt about that, but there is a possibility of an upset here and it might be worth taking with small stakes.

  • The prediction was correct, Monfils played well and won 6-4 6-2.

  • Event: Mikhail Youzhny vs Kei Nishikori, ATP Halle

    Bet: Youzhny to win

    Odds: 2.10

    Sportsbook: BetVictor

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.70

Nishikori is the better ranked player and that is why most bookies have him as favourite for this match. But Youzhny is undoubtedly the better player on grass, he reached the semi finals last year in this tournament and also reached the quarter finals in Wimbledon. Moreover, Nishikori plays in this tournament for the very first time in his career, surely an advantage for Youzhny.

  • The prediction was correct, Youzhny won 6-1 6-7 6-3.

  • Event: Tommy Haas vs Ernests Gulbis, ATP Halle

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.73

    Sportsbook: Paddy Power

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 5.84

This should be a fun match between two skilled players, Haas is the favourite thanks to his superior experience but Gulbis will surely give him a run for his money. Gulbis defeated Berdych last year in Wimbledon, so he can deliver on grass. Moreover, the two have met twice this year, one win apiece but both matches ended in three sets. I expect a similar outcome today or at least two close sets.

  • The prediction was correct, Haas won 7-6 6-4, which is exactly 23 games.

  • Event: Lleyton Hewitt vs Juan Martin Del Potro, ATP London

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.90

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.20

Del Potro is the favourite here given his ranking but Hewitt has already proven his great form in the previous rounds when he defeated Dimitrov and Querrey. On the other hand Del Potro dropped a set against Malisse in the first round, and Malisse is surely weaker than Hewitt. It will surely be a cracking match with at least two close sets, you could even risk a bet on Hewitt to win if you're in the mood for more intense betting thrills.

  • The prediction was correct, Hewitt won 6-2 2-6 6-2.

  • Event: Fernando Verdasco vs Alexandr Dolgopolov, ATP Eastbourne

    Bet: Over 2.5 sets

    Odds: 2.25

    Sportsbook: Paddy Power

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 10.00

Verdasco seems to be regaining some form and momentum, had good performances lately and took sets off Tipsarevic, Ferrer and Tsonga in his last three defeats, all great players. Dolgopolov was a bit up and down lately, but he's a surprising player that can produce great performances quite often. It's a match without a clear favourite so I think it might end in three sets, the odds are pretty good on that option so it's worth a try.

  • The prediction was correct, Verdasco won in three sets: 1-6 6-3 6-2
