I never make site suggestions and I don't think I've actually seen a website offer the users that ability , but I'm always impressed when I use this site. Whoever made this did an incredible job. Anyways...
There doesn't appear to be a way to sort forum posts when you search on them. So, I usually get a mix of posts that look like this as my search results:
Lorem Ipsum Blah Blah post .... Last Post 3 minutes ago
Lorem Ipsum Blah Blah post .... Last Post 9 years ago
Lorem Ipsum Blah Blah post .... Last Post 3 months ago
Lorem Ipsum Blah Blah post .... Last Post 4 days ago
The last posted date is always the first thing I look at now when I do forum searches because there are so many outdated posts that are irrevalant for what I'm looking for.
There is a slim to none chance that anything posted 9 years ago will be relevant. So, it might be more efficient to archive those and only show the user posts that were made in the last couple of years by default. Perhaps give them the option to continue diving into the past if they so choose. This should increase the performance of searches and help the users out and take some load off your hardware.
Also, a realtime filtering mechanism would be nice. So if I wanted to narrow down my search results, I could flip toggles/narrow date ranges/etc.
