Suggesting movies (no blockbusters)

I think it would be smart to have a topic like this.It is good to knew for some good movies,that are not so popular. My first suggestion is Argentinian movie : El secreto de sus ojos.Fantastic drama!

I recommend a Turkish film called "Winter Sleep", exceptional cinematography and a great film overall. However, you have to be prepared for it because it's quite long: 3 hours and a half!

I really like Happiness. It was released in 1998. I also like The Way Way Back with Toni Collette. And there are two European movies that are probably my favorites:  Der Krieger und die Kaiserin and À la folie... pas du tout.

Hey! I recomend "Tres metros sobre el cielo". There are 3 parts and it's a great movie based on a novel of the same name written by Moccia Federico. It's about love, drama and action. Enjoy it!

I recommend "The Red Tent" It is the story of Dinah, daughter of Jacob and sister of Joseph. She is a minor character in the Bible, but the author has broadened her story. I'm sure you will  like this movies.

Last good comedy I have watched is Indian movie "3 Idiots". It is very funny,one of the best comedies ever,in my opinion.It is about 3 friends and their college life,and their life after it.

I recommend The Duff( 2015). It’s a great comedy. The film is about a content high school senior whose world is shattered when she learns the student body knows her as 'The DUFF' (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her prettier, more popular friends.

I recommend also Adult Beginners (2014). It's a good comedy. The story is about a narcissistic entrepreneur, with his entire life in total disarray,  leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged pregnant sister. Watch it!

There is one movie I watched lately.It is called  La Cara Oculta.It is Spanish film .It is very misterious and it is exciting all the time.

I like Spanish movies. I loves all the series of Tres metros sobre el cielo. A great film, with love, drama and suspense.

I saw yesterday a movie and it was stunning. It's called Hate story (20012).The story is about a girl who becomes a high class prostitute in order to destroy the man who ruined her life and get her revenge. A great movie indeed.

Yesterday,I have watched again La vita e bella,movie by Roberto Benigni.It is one of my favourites.Brilliant drama about the family in WWII. Other movie from the same actors is Tiger and snow.It is also worth watching.

Lst night I saw a  great movie called Next Time I'll Aim for the Heart (2014)  -"La prochaine fois je viserai le coeur" (original title). The story is about some inhabitants of Oise region who live in fright and terror as a serial killer disturbs the peace. It's  a thriller  and I liked it very much.

"El Orfanato" -fantastic movie.This movie has won awards at many festivals.It  is thrille that wont let you breathe for the hour and a half.Main actress is beatyful Belen Rueda,you may know her from TV show "Los Serrano".

Im a Big Horror Movie Fan so I like some Low Budget/not well-known Horror/Thriller Movies.
One of my Favourite Movies is The Midnight Meat Train (not a Low Budget movie but thats ok)  based on a short story by Clive Barker,I recommend this movie you should watch it

Another fine Mystery Thriler is The Dark Country with Thomas Jane, very suspenseful Thriller.

"Black cat-white cat" this is a fantastic comedy directed by Emir Kusturica.It won many awards at prestigious European festivals.It is about love,business,joy of life of  Gypsies.Music is fantastic.This is little masterpiece.

Lars von Trier is one of my favorite directors; I loved Melancholia with Kristen Dunst, but on this occasion I would like to recommend Dancer in the Dark. Some say that the movie is too difficult to watch, and it has received mixed critical reviews, but everyone agrees that Bjork was fascinating, and her performance powerful and moving.

I enjoyed the movie Cloudburst with Olympia Dukakis. I was not sure at first when reading the info on it but it was very good. Unusual role for Olympia.

The Calling- Susan Sarandon, Topher Grace, Donald Sutherland - set in a small Canadian town - thriller.

Both of these movies for me was more about the characters played by the actors, the interaction and the fact these were low budget films. It surprised and pleased me the actors that obviously did not choose the roles for money.

I also appreciate his movies.They are mostly controversial,but it is pure art.I was really touched by Antichrist,Dafoe had an outstanding role.After that,Melancholia is my favourite .

Last night I have watched masterpiece from Emir Kusturica.I am talking about Black Cat-White Cat.Fantastic comedy about gypsies,their love,freedom and way of life. I cant remember last time I have laughed so much.

I couple of days ago I watched a Spanish comedy "Spanish Affair" (Ocho apellidos vascos). It's a good one so I can recommend it.

Wll,when we are talking about Spanish movies,my favourite is "Carne trémula". It is very interesting film directed by Almodovar with Bardem as one of the main characters.

:) For me anything from Almodóvar will do. I love his movies.

I like horror movies and i will recommend one this is a must see movie for any horror fan the name of movie is tusk.

Usually ,I dont enjoy horrror movies.but Tusk is not bad.It is interesting indeed.My suggestion is Mama.It is movie directed by Andres Marchietti.

Mama is really sad movie i get a bit emotional at end of movie. 

Der Untergang- one of the best movies i ever watch. i guess a lot of you watched alredy but if you didnt watch it. its about last days of adolf hitler. really great movie

I would like to recommend Welcome to me with Kristen Wiig. She wins the lottery and the story can begin. It's very funny and interesting.

I Watched a few weeks ago a British indie Thriller/Horror Movie."In Fear" was the name of this movie,it was very creepy and suspenseful and had good characters and good actors and a interesting ending.

Yesterday I watched this old movie called American Beauty and after seeing it, I definitely say it is a Must See movie. There's Kevin Spacey and he is a brilliant actor, the story line is kind of unexpected and it doesn't get boring.. I love old movies so give it a try!

well American Beauty is a Blockbuster it was a Big hit on the Box office,and 16 years is not so "old" for a movie.
But yes American Beauty is a good movie.

I love American Beauty,but when you mentioned it, I must mention another classic with Kevin Spacey.Usual suspects is one of my all-time favourites.Fantastic movie!

I Agree.Usual Suspects is also one of my favourites movies,one of the best crime Thrillers.

Yes, American Beauty was a quite popular movie, but still, it was an amazing one. I like pretty much any movie with Kevin Spacey.

To be honest, I didn't know it was popular, so it's my bad. However, we are on the same page about Kevin Spacey, he is amazing. And thanks to suggestions about Usual Suspects, will definitely watch it soon!

I suggest you also L.A. Confidential.It is such a masterpiece.It is drama about three police officers (played by Spacey,Crowe and Guy Pearce). It has outstanding ending...

If you are into comedy the movie 'Sleepwalk With Me' is HILARIOUS!  You will especially love it if you have ever suffered from insomnia or sleepwalking. Great flick.

              I thought one of the better movies in the past year was  "St.  Vincent"  with Bill Murray.  I don't think
it really got enough press and I thought  Murray's acting was excellent  and his girlfriend was hilarious.

I agree with bongo.St. Vincent is really nice movie.It really made me laugh many times.Bill Murray is good acctor,he has such an unusual face and mymic. I love him since Groundhog day.

Skin Trade is a really good Action/Martial Arts movie with a good story and good actors,Martial Art and Action fans should watch it,but it has also a very good story with a serious Theme.
It is only available on Blu Ray/DVD not in Cinemas.

Random thoughts after seeing the last post I would suggest Iron Monkey, with Donnie Yen. If u do watch it, DO NOT  watch it dubbed in english, a total hash imo.
The Raid, was impressed by its original setting and smart fight scenes.
  A really hard to find movie called The Barefooted Kid, can not find it on DVD. Saw it years ago via a friend who got it from china town and still the best Martial Arts film I've seen, when it comes to chinese thundercat morals and ****
Not really into horror movies but two movies that stuck in my head for a while were Asian. Oldboy is mind bending movie that reminds me of Memento, but with a very deep conclusion at the end.
Audition, divorced man looking for love so turns to his  who does casting for movies for the perfect woman. It is really slow, but the final 20 mintues, YIKES. Would not wish this on anyone and could not sleep that night 
Election, with Reese Witherspoon. Very underrated movie that does not get enough air time, and when it does its late at night 

Watched interstellar few days ago and wow! what a  cool movie it was, so every one who have not seen it, please do!

yes ,watched Interstellar last month.  Loved the concept of the movie

Not seen it yet but looking forward to as I'm a fan of Chris Nolan. How he has not got an Oscar yet is mind boggling. Think Interstellar would be classed as a blockbuster @ Rickharder. Nolan gets big budgets to do his stuff these days

                  I liked Interstellar but that one was kind of disturbing on many levels.  I mean  would you leave your family to only possibly save them with very little chance of ever seeing them again?  a trade off  I suppose.  Great movie though. 

Interstellar is prettgy good film,like every film that is directed by Christopher Nolan,but I considere all of his other movies to be better then Interstellar.

Did you saw Open Window. I think that is great mistery with Johnny Depp, if you like him you will love this movie.

I love Interstellar but I think that's a typical blockbuster.
