should a child that gets in trouble or drugs be giving up on

i had a daughter that was out of control also. she started stealing. running around with boys, sneaking out at night a doing drugs and smoking, and many other things. i got so to a point i was going to give her to the state, i was a single mother with another child also. their father died when my oldest was 8 years old.when the police came to arrest me for her calling and threatening them with over 100 phone calls and found out  i was at work i was at my wits end. so when she saw i was going to give her up she promised to straighten up. she did calm down some, but later i found out 1 of the  reasons was while she was at her paternal gmaws she was molested by a cousin (which was passed by then)when she was smaller. so i had a better understanding about why she had problems. so childrenbehaving outburst and doing harmful things, and drugs or cutting themselves may have a hidden secret making them  do these things. so before you give up on them or send them to militarty school try to find out why.

I agree with you Victoria... Mothers should never abandon their children... we should try to do our best as parents and always be present in our children's lives, no matter what...

yes thats true mafalda. my mother had eight children and she always told us she would always love us no mater what. and she did till the day she passed.

No child should ever be giving up on. You have a responsibility for life. Even if you never get through to them you never ever give up

Ok drugs trouble its part of growing up. Im just saying if you got to ask this question then u didnt live that awesome life of no regrets , party till tge wheels fall off, 

Just saying you never give up your kid cause of what he/she is doing drugs/getting into trouble, its life its real, they gotta learn from mistakes, but giving up is when they start stealing or just str8 up disrespect you, yo the point of makinf a thread about giving up on ...... jkjkjkjk just playin.....

I have four children, three daughters and a son, there were quarrels, conflicts, but there were such happy days that we will remember all our lives. Love your children, do not betray them under any circumstances!

Your story is so sad. I don't have kids and I don't want to. I can't even imagine your pain, feeling like you were loosing your daughter. But I think you did the right thing trying to understand her motives and feelings. 

I also think you daughter may need some kind of therapy. It must be very hard for her trying to recover from her trauma.

I hope you two find the way of healing. You must know your daughter is a lucky person because she has you. And you are an incredible mother

I have kids and a daughter that is 15. I see trouble coming from her. She has went from sweet and helpful to hell on wheels. She is in high school now and has been paling around with a group of friends that are down right incourgable. Lies, rolls her eyes and has sayed she is proud of lying and being sneaky. I took away her ipad, phone and is going to set an appointment with a physcologist. I will not give up on her. It is hard i know but we as parents have to roll with the punches and hope for the best.  Sometimes kids can go thru a period called growing up which we all did. Teenage years can be the worst growing pain there is. I went into a faze where i was against my mom and the world for no reason besides i thought i was grown. After i became an adult i see the bills , keeping everything in order is not easy. Boy i wish i was a kid again with limited responsibility .Kids did not come with a how to manual 

It is very hard to fight against growing up, however, with healthy and open approach with children the parents may succeed to direct them the best possible way. We were young as well and our parents had similar problems with us and never gave up, that is the aim, to support the children and help them even if sometimes they dislike the means parents may include...
