update update:
7 days 12 hours now since i stopped smoking
i currently have a sore throat and cold, but i think it is half to do with the fact my body is now getting rid of the old rubbish inside of me.
i am highly stressed and i get angry easily, but i need to find something to take up my time, this anger is not good for me

LuckyRJ I've seen that anger that can come from the nicotine fits. It's tough to be around and I'm sure it's even tougher to live with. You are doing well.
When I am stressed if I can't find anything to relieve it or anything to take my mind off of it, I have learned to do a forced sleep. Usually when I wake up an hour or however long later, things have calmed down.
That sense of urgency when you are stressed is really bad, like you have to do something *right NOW* or explode. I hope that the emotions and stress subside for you quickly. -

I have been listening to every1 who is trying to stop smoking and I say good luck. I have been smoking since I was 14years old I am 50 now. I stopped smoking on my 40th birthday and said I will never smoke again I was so happy to be a non smoker. Three years later I was at a party that it seemed like I was the only non smoker there so I thought oh I'll just have one and I should be ok. Well here I am 50years old battleing breasted cancer since 2011 and there is nothing wrong with my lungs. Go figure. Keep up the good work.

Lucy, my dad was a heavy smoker and got brain cancer. It spread so eventually it ended up in the lungs as well, but you can get any kind of cancer from smoking. I am so sorry to hear you are suffering with cancer, it is a very scary thing but luckily new treatments are arriving all the time. It is so much more survivable than it was 20-30 years ago. Best wishes for your recovery.

Just caught up with this thread and sorry to read your story Lucy. I hope you beat the big C and so sorry to hear this news. Stay positive and you will beat it.
@Lucky - congrats on the giving up so far. Week 3 is the hardest they say (along with 3 months and 3 years). Nip over to Tesco and try their disposable e-cig. They cost £4.99 in the big stores and £5.99 in the "express" stores but they taste like cigs (well a bit sweeter than the real thing) and do the trick. You can get them on the ciggy counter. They also do a menthol one too.

aww ok, sorry to hear that, and yes some work better for some people than others doo, but if u cant not get used to the not using a normal cig, e-cig might not work for you, you need to look at the e-cig in a different way - just see it as the nicotine fix, that is how i see the e-cig, i take a few puffs on it about every hour now, and it is enough for me, like i said i am cutting the e-cig down now too, and been getting more migraines because of it.
but it is needed to be done.
maybe have a search on the internet there is a lot of choice out there now for e-cigs

And well done to you too kazzi and yes you was right about the coffee too, it did taste different for a week or so for me too..
I think it was a nice surprise for myself because i thought i had no will power left inside of me, but obviously i do have some left, i dont even crave them at all, it is 100% fact i will never smoke again
everytime i see people smoking now when i am out or on tv, i just say give up sometimes to myself and sometimes to them lol and they laugh haha. -

I agree that everything does taste and smell better. And the best part of it all is not smelling like cigarettes. When you smoke you don't really smell it on other people until you quit.
I have quit and restarted and quit a zillion times it is a very easy habit to go back to and takes super diligence not to.

Lucy, im sorry to hear that you're battling and dealing with one of our worst enemies, stay positive, stay strong and take care of yourself..
Lucky.. wow that's fantastic!
Zuga, did your e-cigs come yet lol?
I smoke Newport Non Menthol Red 100's they cost about 4.00 a pack, they are a new type from Newport they neve did a non menthol before, the reg Newports which are the most popular here are about 6.50 but the reds are 4.00... I don't know why.. I signed up on the Newport site and get 1.00 off coupons, same with Marlboro and Camel
I've got quite a few co-workers that tried to quit smoking with the e-cig.. it didn't work one of them quit for about two months but eventually returned to the cig -

I quit smoking 3 years ago. A friend and I were shooting pool one day and he went outside to grab a smoke I went with and bummed one cigarette and started up all over again. It is crazy how all it takes is one. Cigarettes cost about 7 dollars a pack where I live and I smoke a pack or so a day. Sometimes more if I go out or under stress.

I quit 2 months ago.
I also use the blu electronic. I don't use it often, only with alcohol.
I smoked for a long time, mostly social, with coffee in the morning and a few throughout the day. Maybe 5-10 per day, while drinking it was excessive like a pack or 2 depending how long I was partying for.
I quit cold turkey and the first 3 weeks were the worst, I actually tried to stay away from liquor and my drinking friends during that time, but even when I had a few drinks I stayed strong. About week 4 I got really drunk, and that was the night I swear I thought I was going to give in, I didn't , and since then it has been pretty easy.
I tried the electric cigarette in the past and always ended up asking for a cigarette a little while later. Now that I am really serious about quitting the electronic cigarette helps a lot.
I also do have other motivation, I have always been somewhat active with exercise, but now I lift weight and exercise everyday, so that helps me immensely. -

i smoked on and off since i was probably 12 with the most being 4 packs a day when i was overseas. i started on the "green smoke" brand ecig probably nine months ago and havent had even the remote craving to smoke since.....i smoke the ecig all day though with the strongest 2.4mg cartidges they have. they definately give you all the nicotine you can handle/crave and after the startup cost it is actually cheaper than my regular smokes.......but now i am hooked on my ecig and think that quiting it would be hard and perhaps i would really want to smoke without it....i would strongly recommend this brand as i had tried BLU and 21st century prior and thought they were crap.

E-Cigs just don't do it for me. It isn't a real cigarette. If you aren't going to smoke a real cigarette, why don't you just quit smoking. Oh, but no, you rather replace the habit with another habit that is equivalent. I tried smoking E-Cig because I got a starter package for free and only had to pay for shipping and handling which cost $4.95. Very cheap! I guess smoking E-Cigs would be cheaper in comparison to smoking the traditional.. "real" cigarette. Depending how much you smoke and how much a pack of cigarettes cost in the area you live in... Yes, the price is going to be more than smoking vapor.
Ok, so this forum post is asking me how much does cigarettes cost you (me)? Hmm... Dang, about $40 bucks a week. Now this is a thought.... I could quit and then use that $40 towards gaming??? Nah. lol. Maybe you? -

I am not a smoker, but I always have to listen to my Dad's complainings about my Mum's intake of cigarettes. He hates how much money she spends on them (not to mention that she coughs like there is no tomorrow), I would say she pays an average 35 Euro (or maybe more) within 7 days. So, imagine: 35 Euro / 39 Dollar a year cost 1680 Euro / 1880 Dollar just for cigarettes and her journey to a bad health. amp;

I used to smoke a couple of years ago, but then I used really tasty but cheap contraband cigarettes and they cost only 1.40€ and I spent about 10 euros a month. I've tried e-cigarettes too and I liked the fact you can choose tastes, for example, mint or cherries, but now I have luckily quit smoking for almost 3 years and am not planning to go back! Besides, now it's little expensive, 1 costs around 3€ or more €.

I managed to quit smoking 10 years ago, I feel very much better, but it's very difficult.
When I smoked the price of my favorite cigarette (Marllboro) cost about US $ 0.70 (one with 20 cigarettes), now the price has increased, costs about US $ 2.00 each, using the simple conversion R$ to U$. . -
