How Much Does Cigarettes Cost You?

I have never tried to quit, and have been smoking for 20 years. (paying about $5-$6 a pack right now, when I started smoking it was $2)

However, I dont think its the nicotine that will be the hard part for me. Smoking is habitual. Its part of my daily routine. I smoke when I  am on the computer. I smoke when Im on the phone. I smoke right after I eat. I smoke when I get in the car (when the kids arent in there) And I smoke with my coffee.. Thats the big one. Not sure I would enjoy coffee as much if it didnt include a cigarette. 

I give you guys that quit so much credit. Its a lifestyle change. Just like going on a diet. Its about changing your life. I am not good with change, so wish me luck!

I bought 1 kg of tobacco for something like $18 which is like $0,20 per pack of cigarettes so it's like free smoking now It doesn't taste too good but at least I don't smoke so much because of it  and it doesn't make my wallet empty all the time. 

I pay $7.43 for a pack of cigarettes. I've only quit smoking once and it was because I had a double pneumonia and was hospitalized. That lasted for about 3-4 months and then I went out drinking with my girlfriends one night and bang that was it. For some reason drinking and smoking go hand in hand in my opinion. I have to say though I went from smoking a pack a day to a pack every 2-3 days.

1 oackage of 25 cigarettes costs around 6 euro here which is about $6.50. It's getting crazy expensive so I actually switched to making them myself, which is about 12 euro for 150 cigarettes. I stopped smoking inside since we started living in the new house, so 1 container lasts me about a week, week and a half

As usual in Norway, when it is a new year the tobacco-prices rise with 2-3 %. So now I pay $27 for the tobacco 50 g. Crazy!

I am not a smoker, thank heavens I was really uncool when I tried it as a teenager. But I do know that nicotine and alcohol do go hand in hand. It is hard to quit just one, chemical thing I believe. But I do know that your chances of getting any of the cigarette related illnesses, especially cancer almost triple when alcohol is also consumed regularly. Not preaching, just teaching. I can't believe cigarettes cost around $6.00 now. I'm a member of marlboro.com so I get a weekly coupon for a $1.50 off a pack weekly. That helps some.

Here in serbia cigarettes are so much cheap . you can get it for 1.5-2.5 $. im not smoking but my father does and he spent like 70 $ per mounth on it , its maybe not sound much for you but it is for us in serbia .

Georgia-USA ive smoked for many years... generic cigs cost about $4/pack give or take (which is what i currently smoke) because name brand Marlboro or Newport are about $6 giv or take  amp;

Thank good ness I quit 7 yrs ago , I still have 2 sons that still smoke and pay $6 a pack . I am too cheap and don't think I would pay 6 a pack

Now i smoke around 20 cigarettes a day and it costs me ~20$ for a month (0.7$ for a pack).

Saw a lady put down $68 for a carton of 10 packs. Wow, if that was my woman, I would consider that a high maintenance woman. Can you imagine a single wage worker in the family paying for his families smoking habit? Forget about being able to retire. Two of my daughters and a son in law did quit smoking last year. Financial drain from smoking removed.

Here in Sweden: €5 for a regular package (19 cigarettes). Depending on my stress level I smoke 5-15 cigarettes a day.

In my country the government is planning an increase in many "superfluous" items such as cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, then the price of cigarettes should be even more expensive in the coming months,

cigarettes really too cost. the only solution is to quit smoking! It is good for your pockets but above all health! In a few years you can go back on their feet as new

I finally stopped smoking, i stopped smoking without exceptional will and i am much better since I do not smoke.

It's 3-4 E here in Croatia at the moment. It was 1,5 E for a pack 8-9 years ago, that was somw other times.

I smoke Marlboro gold, one pack cost 3,77$ and a carton 37,71$.

I buy at least two packs per day

every year i spend around 2600$...F.. that is too much 

Man every year you can go to vacation to some tropical island if you weren't smoking. smoking deffinitely became some kind of luxury :D 

I never realize that so much money go up in smoke..in 15 years of smoking i spend so much money ( 39000 $) this is so wrong... 

Oh yeah it is. Imagine what you could have buyed for that money instead of ciggaretes. People should start to grow their own tobacco :)

Smokes in my country are really expensive! a pack of 25 smokes of the cheapest brand is approx $22.50. For a pack of 30 of Winfield they range from $31-35!! We have those lovely disturbing images on our packets as well to make people quit! They also now cannot be on display in any shops. They are behind the counter in closed cupboards

here in the Philippines a pack of marlboro will cost you 66.00 pesos.

That are some really gross images. I am deffinitely lucky to be a non smoker so I don't have to watch that nastiness every day :)

I stopped smoking about 5 years ago, yay me, I got pregnant and knew i had to stop and it was the best thing. It used to cost me about 70 per week like 5 packs of 25's i think. Its gone up here as the government fake trying to stop people smoking by upping tabbco taxes. Smoking is sooooo bad and i hated doing it when i did smoke. The government really should ban it. You know what I found, that when i gambled online I smoked and smoked because I needed to do something while spending all those hours spinning and spinning.

Hi i smoke too... It's crazy how much smokes cost.  I smoke a half a pack a day on average.  Its very hard to quit.  Its like its part of your personality.  But finacially we should rally together and fight the tax laws.  Why should smokers have to pay for everything??

Here in Montenegro pack of Malboro cost 2,7 $ I think. But I dont  smoke 

A pack of cigarettes in my country costs 3$, it was 2 and 2.50$ about 3-4 months ago.I haven't smoked for 2 weeks and I am really happy about it.Feel much better after 4 years of smoking. Good luck  people.

I never tried it but I know that it costs around 3-4 EUR/pack in Hungary.

I dont think any countries have a higher cost on sigaretts like Norway. 114 NOK  about 13 euros 

I switched to smoking little flavored cigars......the cheyenne vanillaare my favorite 2.29 a pack or I also do ohm vanilla at 1.89 a pack and 18.98 a carton....I can't smoke a real ciggy now after the flavored cigars....haha

Kissk - Depending on the state in the US a carton of ciggys can cost over $100 and $12 - $15 a pack so it sounds comparable. The tax tacked on is the killer. 

Lacey - I know some peeps who have switched to those lil flavored cigars. I have a friend who inhales them, do you?

No I do not inhale them..it's in the mouth and out the mouth and people are like why even smoke if you don't inhale.....it for me is just an oral fixatin...if my mind can get past that and I Have tried everything I would quit. Just can't let go.

Never have liked Marls. Tried them a while back but no, Camel is better:D They are stronger so the urge to smoke does not come so fast :D Marlboro golds went as TIC TACs for me :D
