  • Ciggaretes are getting more and more expensive every next year. Soon will people have to start growing their own tobbaco if they will want to smoke. Otherwise it would be luxury to smoke and no one would be able to afford it.

  • A pack of Marlboro €6,50 (20 cigarettes). Smoking while playing is a guilty pleasure of mine :D

  • Sometimes i smoke al capone filter cigars. 10 cigars cost 5€...

  • I have stopped smoking 13 years ago and it is the best decision in my life (at least for my budget) :)

Since then I have smoked on few occasions (while drinking) but never got back to the old nasty habbit :)

  • I'm not a chain smoker, I can go 2-3 days without a cigarette, but the withdraw kick's in an then all hell breaks loose :D:D I have tried to stop smoking, but the problem all of my friends smoke so it's hard if you get a drink on friday or saturday and you feel the smell to say no :)

  • They cost my health. I know it is fortune spent on cigarettes, I started when I was 11 years old and I know its a shame, now I am 34 ... and what's the most important. it's the damage to my health. When it comes to cash, yeah I know, it's the fortune for sure. I must quit because of my health and I keep avoiding that fact. Sooner or later, it will happen. I am not even thinking about cash because health has no prize.

  • when i hunting no deposite bonus 2E but when i playing something poker tournament or some slots games its going to 4E

  • I am proud to say i have quit smoking.. My boyfriend has also. The money we are saving is very noticable in our pockets. we were spending $30 plus every 2 to 3 days just on smokes. I still have a long road ahead of us but am hanging strong.  :)

  • depends, if your aboriginal you save TONS buying off a reservation, but myself i pay almost 11 bucks a pack and thats not for a premium brand, seems like the price goes up every 2 or 3 months by 10 cents, really doesnt seem worth paying the price just to kill ourselves eh?

  • No premium brands, like Caines L&M cost here under 3 euros about 2.8 2.9.. Of course you can get a cigarette pack for 2.3, i think, but they are more like dried leaves put in a cigarette roll than an actual cigarette :D

  • Blimey, going through this thread reminded me of my chain-smoking days...

I quit 7 years ago, and now I cannot even remember what I smoked back in the day. I do remember I  started with PalMal, and then went on with several varieties of Ronhil, which cost around 2 euros, then. It amounted to me spending around 40 / 50 eurs per month just on the damn ciggies. The funny thing is that I quit by accident, not because I wanted to. I contracted some nasty stomach flu, which gave me a bad case of vomiting, diarrhea and fever that lasted for 10 days. Did not even think of lighting a ciggie, that's how bad it was. When I did light it, on the 11th day, it felt disgusting. I guess my body cleansed itself of the toxins in the meantime. And since it felt nasty and I did not enjoy it any more....I decided to not force myself into smoking again and just stop. It was hard during the first 2 months or so cause I had strong cravings, especially after lunch and in the evening but I soldiered on, and eventually did not feel them any more.

I'd be lying if I said that a thought of being healthier is what kept me off ciggies. It was mostly the thought of saving tons of MONEY, muhaha!! Sorry for the long post, but the point is - save your pennies for better stuff, people! Cheers :)

  • Cigarettes already cost my loungs capacity so its all what matter to me, unfortunately and I will seek profesional help as I can't help myself. My father has the same problems being passionate smoker. Nasty. Its awesome saving our money but to me my health has no price and I am very upset already especially when I know that its so damn hard quiting.

I do want to come off as being a smartass meddler or something, but do try to motivate yourself any way you can if you really want to quit. As someone who had a hard time beating the habit, I could say that key points to quitting successfully are:

    1. Keep reminding yourself of the benefits (better health, more money left for travels / clothes / you'll be less disgusting to non-smokers, etc, whatever helps)

    2. You need to have a real, honest desire to quit.

    3. Beat the cravings. They come at critical times (times when you usually smoked before - after lunch, with coffee, etc) but it helped me to overcome them by substituting a ciggie with a physical activity (I was doing some push ups, went for a short walk / run, etc). Find what works for you :)

    4. Avoid other smokers as much as you can. Temptation does not help.

I hope I did not overstep myself here...I really hope you can beat it. As for lung capacity...human body is a wonderfull thing, It regenerates itself to some degree, given enough time and proper maintenance :D My lungs were in bad shape too, but now I am running 10ks and half-marathons...(hence the nickname) ;)

  • The hardest thing for quiting is other smokers. And that's the problem for me, almost all my friends smoke so it's hard to not be around smoker when you are trying to quit :/

I agree. I have the experience of guiting smoking for one year. And I started again to smoke because all around smoked and told me that is not a problem to smoke just only one cigarette with them... At first it was one cigarette, then two and etc.
Take care of yourself, friends, and look for support within yourself and in places free from smoking. Good luck!

  • I don't smoke, but I take so much coffee that sometimes I think I'd rather smoked instead haha

  • I also drink much coffee but with cigarettes. Unfortunately I need to smoke when I think during gambling.

Cigarettes do not have positive effects but only negative effects whereas coffee has rather positive effects on health, one or two large cups of coffee a day have some rather beneficial effects on the central nervous system.

  • 6 euro 19 cigarettes marlboro here;) they raise also everytime! it's insane, i already smoke tobacco for now 1,5 year 11.50eur for 70grams and make them with a machine much better for me and cheaper;) there's just too much tax on the cigs here also!

  • in Seoul where I live, one package of Marlboro costs 4.03$ or higher. It's not so expansive especially when you compare it to European prices

  • I smoke about a pack for a day. I ve been trying to quit but not yet successs. A pack of Marlboro here is $5 roughly.

  • I also smoke about one pack of a day. And I'm in Malaysia now. Here a pack of cigaretts costs 3,5-4 $. It's cheaper than in Europe.

  • Was listening to the business channel. It said that in New York a pack of Marlboro will set you back more than $13.

  • I have went to a country that cause a marlboro only 1 USD ...

  • JohnBrick wrote:

JohnBrick, tell me please, where is such a wonderfull country where cigaretts are so cheap?!shocked

  • about 10 eur

  • Hi. I am from France, but now stay in Beirut, Lebanon. Malboro here  is $1.70

  • about 8 EUR here

  • The new tax was introduced, and atleast the Camel brand is now 3.30 euros per pack was 3! More or less everything is in that region here nowdays only marlboro is around 3.5 i think, but i can't say that becaus ehaven't bought them so i don't know the price

  • haha nothing!!

  • It is good to see this post.

And right now, I am trying to stop smoking completely.

I smoked around 20 years and have been a heavy smoker around 9 years.

I don't wan to and can't smoke any more because I have some pains inside.

Now it is time to stop, and I feel that it is really possible for me now.

  • Cost of a pack of cigarettes in my region (Ukraine) 50 cents. But and the standard of living in the country is low.

  • With us in Germany cost cigarettes differently from 5 euro on vers.sind really expensive in germany

  • Actually before taxes went up on cigarettes here a pack of marlboro only cost less than a dollar but now it cost more than a dollar around $1.50 a pack. They said that raising its price will make the smokers stop smoking cost of its price and now smoking is now banned here you are not allowed to smoke everywhere like before and that there are disignated smoking areas where you can smoke now.

  • Cheapest ever is VI-St. Croix-under $30 for carton on Pall Mall Blue 100's

State side in NM-about $4.50 for local convenience store brand

When I'm broke I'm really bad and use the nicotine patch to hold me over no plans on quitting.

GL everybody....thanks for the cool post question.......

  • Holy shoot r u lucky Marlboro runs in the States about $7 a pack..........

Can I stay w/u for like a month to smoke those cigs @ that price.........have one for me and urself......lololololol

  • If i recall my first pack of 25 cigarettes, only costing me 2,5 units of our then local currency, it does pain me to see i am now paying almost 5 that amount! A pack now costs 6.70, and only contains 20 cig's.

That isn't 5 times you may think, but the Euro, our current shared currency, was worth 2.20 at it's entrypoint, and with the normal inflation rate of the now no longer existing 'gulden' that would now still be at least 1.88.

So 6.7 x 1.88 = around 12.50, but i personally always count the 2.20 when comparing, so it feels like 22 units:) Thats more like tenfold...

In comparison, back when i boiught my first pack for 2.50, i could buy 2 loafs of luxury bread from the bakery, a dozen of the most expensive eggs, a 500gram pack of creambutter and a liter of 'bio' milk... for 6.70 now, i can buy 2 luxury breads, and maybe one egg :)

The governments are getting a shitload of tax revenue from this market alone, that's for sure, and the cigarette companies naturally have been making sick profits for years as well, and when we look at all the disadvantages of smoking, on our own health, on our environment, and our wallets, you'ld wonder 'what's the bloody point ?

Well, i am happy i don't really smoke anymore, as to be frank, i couldn't afford it anymore these days..

I do smoke a fair amount of weed (legal here) and use tobacco to roll..Everytime i buy a pack of tobacco, i still cringe :p

Long story short: they sure ain't cheap!

  • i have in the past few months gotten my cigarettes from a neighboring nation where they are cheaper. wont go into figures but half the price roughly? must keep travelling there regularly.

  • I finally stopped smoking in 2009. By my rough calculations I've managed to "win" from this move ..... 350 boxes a year x 8 years x2,50 euro box ,, 7,000 euros, A great hit in the games !!!!

  • I started vaping and I'm not lying it works out far cheaper than smoking these days...

  • Where I live a pack of cigarettes is $14 USD! Hence why I started rolling my own!

  • cigarettes...i started smoking again going on about 2 years now, after quitting for 12 years...when i first started back when i was 15 years old a pack of kools filter kings costs  35 cents! a 10 pack carton was $6

the last time i bought a carton at costco it was $76 ? which was last year or so..    i don't buy them by the carton anymore they seem to go faster that way. now,i've been going to the local liquor store and it costs $9 a pack there... been trying to keep it to a minimum i now it's a lousy habit but i think it's better than the alternative... i'd  probably do something i'd regret if i didn't smoke nuff said...

  • I've slowed down to about 3 cigarettes a week but my wife is an INSANE SMOKER. At almost $7 a day and sometimes smokes 2 packs a day if her nerves are bad. I hope she can maybe get the patch because of her health #1 and I hate the smell after stopping everyday. The more I complain it only makes her smoke more, lol. She can do it and has quit for 8 months at a time in the past on several uoccassions. I'll just have to learn to be more supportive.

  • cigaretts doesnt cost me anything because i dont smoke lol

  • I turn cigarettes myself and the tobacco is enough for a week and costs 16 €

  • According to one study, smoking accounts for about 6 % of global health spending and  2 % of gross domestic product.

  • At us now the pack costs about 2 $. The cheapest is about 1.2 $. Prices for cigarettes are constantly growing slightly.

  • Packet of 20 cigarette costs 3 USD which is local brand

  • My pack of cigarettes costs me 2.5 $ / per day (Parlament Night Blue)

    Yes,In Russia, very cheap cigarettessmiley

I gave up 2 weeks ago smiley I think mine were £6.45 for a packet of 20 JPS Blue. I now smoke ecigs, not quite proven track record for health but cant be worse then normal cigs, and definately cheaper smiley
