  • So it would appear over the last 2 months 2 exchanges have closed it's doors for US Customers to be able to buy and sell there BTC.

First off the first company to go under was Change Tip.  This lost quite a bit of transactions as places like Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, and of the like never really adopted the system.  Which the whole point of it was to allow you to give someone a small amount of money for them doing something for you.  Whether they bought you a cup of coffee and your paying them back.  They did something nice for you or whatever you feel the need to send someone a small transaction of $100 or under to pay them for.

Essentially Facebook has implimented it's own tipping system of a sorts, and well Twitter and other places never saw the need to allow someone to be tipped over a social media app.

So due to the lack of interest the plug has been pulled on Change Tip.

Then we have Circle.  Now this where there's been quite a bit of mis-information being posted around the net on what happened with Circle.  Essentially from what I always gathered Circle was never in the BTC market for the long haul anyways.  They were trying to figure out a way to beat Pay Pal's fees and become the next Pay Pal of the world.  They brought on BTC to help with that goal, yet in the end decided because of how practically anonymous BTC is.  They needed something a bit more verifiable in the end.

So now they've brought up there own sort of Crypto Currency called Spark.  They only way to transact spark will be by opening up and verifying your Circle account. That way they know both people who sending each other a transaction over Circles network.  The new technology will be based on the blockchain model, but won't allow for BTC transactions.

Now in a minor twist, they will still allow you hold your BTC in a wallet at Circle.  Yet it'll be known as a wallet and not a place where you can buy and sell your BTC.  For that they've partnered with Coinbase.  Which by most reports I am seeing on Coinbase.  You have to be relatively careful on how you get your coins into there.  As they've employed technologies that can guess that your coins came from places they shouldn't have.  Hence why you'll see quite a few posts on here about making sure you set up a separate wallet of where your casino winnings will go into first.  That way they don't see the transactions coming from known casino wallet providers, such as Cubits.

Hopefully this will be the last of the fatailites we see in the BTC market for now.  Even though I'm guessing we'll see more as the BTC market keeps going up and down rather violently these days.

  • man thats some messed up stuff.

I too always thought this market was/is pretty volatile with the price of bitcoin bouncing around. And I know this currecny is good option for USA players having UIGEA in mind.
So hoepfuly will see it grow even more and be more stable

  • Thanks for clarifying that Cheetah,  I was going to start a new thread but maybe it can be answered here.   On one of my wallets  they advertised a new?  site called "Coinify"  that you could buy and sell Bitcoin.  It sounded very similar to Circle or Coinbase but I just wanted to know if anybody else has more info. about it.

  • Coinbase is run poorly, imo.  When I signed up, I registered a phone I no longer have.  Subsequently, when I tried to sign into my account and a verification code was sent to my old phone---> all forward progress stopped.  Coinbase suggested the use of Authy as a means to provide verification.  The problem is... I needed to link Authy to my Coinbase account. To do that, I needed to log into my account and authorize and link the App in my account settings.  hmmmmm....If only I could access my account!  Parodoxal Procedures do not impress me.  In fact, ithey put me in a very foul mood.

Add this to laughable purchase limits and the shameful fees and the processing time?

    No.  Thank.  You.

Pax? Peer to peer comes at an ugly price.

XCoin?  Horrible experience regarding an unauthorized  charge to my account.

Coinmama has some issues with regard to  processing time and min purchases... but nothing too awful

Circle was perfect. It is my hope that they reconsider. Soon.  lolol

  • So where is it safe to start at  .. open a new account. would coinbase be a good start ?

  • Belive it or not I've never heard of the wallet Conify until you mentioned it honestly.

I do Coinbase apparently is in it for the long term, but never have looked for other exchanges after Coin MX bit the dust and Circle and Coinbase limited my account.

I guess for now I've been happy doing exchanges over Paxful honestly.  Let me see if I can dig anything up for you in the next day or two and I'll let you know.

  • Any news about "Coinify" yet?   I have to believe there's more than  just Coinbase available for purchasing Bitcoin online.

  • Coinify is only good for UK residents right now, there looking to expand further in the future.  Yet so far unless if I find something else, it's pretty much Coinbase, Local Bit Coins, and Paxful for now for US trading.

Unless if you can get in with one of the limited exchanges.  I guess everytime I sign up for an exchange Iowa for some reason is always excluded. So I haven't found any new US Based exchanges yet I can actually test out.

I did find one that worked for me for 1 transaction, then after that I have to have Verified by Visa enabled on my card.  Which my card does not have Verified by Visa or Visa Check as an option.  If you can get Mastercard SecureCode or Verified by Visa https://www.bitit.gift/ works for buying coins.  Not so much for cashing out.

So pretty much I've just stuck with the pricier avenues.  If I ever in my travels find an exchange besides Coinbase that works in Iowa and I can test.  I for sure will let you know, but apparently Iowa is really strict with whom they'll let do financial business here.  Hell I'm finding quite a few loan and credit card places won't touch an Iowa resident.  We must have some pretty strict laws here.

  • Wow,  Iowa,  I had no idea.....thanks for the update Cheetah.

  • The best place to buy and sell bitcoin is bitquick.co. I use them more then any other services. I usually buy bitcoins $10+ cheaper than the market rates.

  • Thanks Chocolateman,   I'll check that one out.

  • BitQuick is good if you have several branches to make deposits into, I try to limit that option as we only have 2 Wells Fargo's and 1 US Bank in town.  So that limits on whom I can make a deposit into.

Not that I'm saying I do any suspicious but ya know, I just hate making deposits into several peoples accounts or using MoneyGram or Western Union considering I just got my bans lifted from both services.

  • Well this really sucks!  I 'm just looking for something where I don't have to leave my house if you know what I mean.  I do live in a large city that does have a lot of various banks.  I've never done that whole exchange thing.  I'm just paranoid I guess.  Man,  why'd this shit have to get so complicated?......

  • Honestly the only reason why it's harder for a Bit Coin exchange to open it's doors people in the US isn't because they don't want to.  It's the way our banking laws are written mainly.

In America we have so many protections that you can practically dispute anything these days from electronic debits to checks to credit/debit/prepaid deposits.  The problem lies in the fact once you've purchased the BTC and sent it off from there own wallet they provide you.  There isn't any physical way for them to retreive it if you do decide to charge back your deposit.

Plus with the start of New York restricting who can buy/sell BTC and IRS looking into Coinbase.  It is hard for a decent exchange to operate really.  I'm still doing research I honestly am, but if your looking for the best price it would appear that Coinbase is the biggest winner.

Otherwise if you don't mind making a cash deposit like Chocolateman said Bitquick is decent.  Then of course you have a dozens options to choose from if you go Local Bit Coin or Paxful.

One note about Paxful or Local Bit Coins, yes at first you'll find the people you buy from expensive, and that's because there taking a risk on allow you to purchase.  Not knowing if your going to be a fraudster or not.  After you've done quite a few trades with them you'll find the rates on eiher place not to be horrible as long as you've built trust with the right people.

  • I have never had a problem with bitquick.co the owner and I have a great relationship. We communicate regularly and plenty of trust with each other. Sometimes he'll throw some extra in on my purchase. I've dealt with them over almost 2 yrs now almost 3 or 4 times a week.

  • Well I understand what your saying Chococlate, but your not understanding.  If your in a small town and only have a few banking branches, and I make a deposit into Susies account today, John's account tomorrow, and then Sandy's account on the next day.  Eventually tellers start to ask questions.

Not that I can't make up a great story, but it's the idea I hate being asked questions when all I want to do is make my deposit, upload the receipt and get my coin.  Plus I also hate the idea the teller may flag the account for there fraud department to review the account.

I had an account closed on me personally at Wells Fargo because I had too many deposits "nationwide" into my account. So I would hate to have these 3rd party sellers get there account because of a teller in a small town becoming suspicous of me making deposits into several peoples account.

If you live in a major city with lots of different banking branches to go to and make deposits to.  I don't see this being an issue, but at one point because I liked the price.  Eventually because of our having 3 major banks in the area, meaning I only had 3 locations to go to.  It caused some of the tellers to wonder why I didn't have an account there and was always depositing into someone elses account.

I'm sure the owner of Bit Quick also makes money off these 3rd party sellers and is always willing to help out a regular, because he makes makes a percentage of each sale.  So he doesn't care if a few people's accounts get closed along the way because of too many irrigular transactions going on.  As long as he gets his percetange he's happy.

Yet I do care because I understand how frustrating it is to have a checking account shut down.  So that's where me and you came to a difference of opinion on this option.  Is varying on your location it's a great option if you live in a big city or somewhere with lots of national bank branches, but if your live a smaller area it might not be as good of an option especially if you only have 1 or 2 national banks in the area and make a 2 to 3 deposits a week like I do.

  • I am a BTC newbie user trying to understand the exchange process and conversion tips for USD. So far, I feel that maybe it will be the best banking methods for USA players. It seems as though US Players are allowed at some casinos if you use the Bitcoin banking method. I have actually sat and watched my BTC wallet at Coinbase grow at an acending rate every 1-5 seconds from 1.013... BTC and is now 1.074...BTC and climbing. I had a leftover balance of .0.0000126 3 weeks ago. It is now 0.71..BTC. I recommend registering with Coinbase if you do not have an account elsewhere. It is really easy and fast. However, I have not cashed out any winnings yet, due to lack of knowledge with cashout terms resulting in a loss. So you have to understand, read, and be careful. But in my opinion, Bitcoins is the way to go!thumbs_up

    Good luck to all!smiley

  • I am a huge fan of www.localbitcoins.com . It is a safe arena to exchange /trade for bitcoins. They have an amzing amount of different options available for trade, such as gift cards, credit card, Amazon coins, bank transfer....you name it.

That is where I do 90% of my BTC trade/purchase .

  • Hey,  I know it's been a while but I want to know if there are any more exchanges where we can now buy Bitcoin online,  you know like Circle or Coinbase?   Someplace where you can buy them online?

  • Evening!

I am all new to this Bitcoin process and I am very anxious about it! I don't know where to begin! lol Can someone tell me what the best bitcoin site is to register at and best place for USA players to purchase bitcoins online?

Since Upay is on hold at the moment for USA players, I am wondering how to switch to Bitcoin so I can play!

I don't know if anyone noticed, but Upay now has a bitcoin wallet as well and they said I can fund my account that way. I just can't use any credit or debit cards right now to fund my account.

If anyone has some helpful advice as to where to start with this whole bitcoin process I would greatly appreciate it.

    Blessings!

  • Hi LadyEnygma,  I would say Coinbase is probably the easiest way to buy Bitcoin directly.   I have been using them for the greater part the last year or two since Circle ended that service.   You have to provide some id documents depending on how much you wish to purchase, transfer, etc.   I also have a Upay acct because I thought they were going to have debit cards available for the US, we know how that turned out.   Anyways,  there  are some good videos on how to do these things on YouTube.   I know I keep going back to that but the videos can explain it a lot better than I can.   I have been using Bitcoin for probably close to 3 1/2 years now and I love it.   Once you get registered on Coinbase,  much of it is fairly intuitive.  You can buy Bitcoin/fractions of Bitcoin with a debit (from a checking acct.) or a credit card.   No prepaids.  Anyway,   you can then transfer the Bitcoin from there to other sites,  such as another wallet.  I  kind of like Cubits.   I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  • Hi Bongo,

Thanks so much for your help! My issue is I only have a prepaid card. I'm not sure how to deposit right now if I can't use a prepaid card. I have a debit card via PayPal and that is how I was funding my Upay card account. Also with another loadable prepaid card. I've been using Upay since they have been introduced. Funny thing is, I deposited at a casino less than 2 weeks ago. I tried this past week and they told me this BS about not accepting credit or debit cards from USA players right now and its only temporary. I doubt that. Sigh..

I will check out how to actually work with bitcoin, I just have to find a way to buy them. Thanks again!

    Blessings~

  • Hello LadyEnygma,

I would agree with Bongo that CoinBase, https://www.coinbase.com , is a good place to purchase BitCoin. However if they find out you are sending BitCoin to a gambling establishment they will freeze then close your account. So you will need a second BitCoin Wallet, one that has no restrictions on who you send BitCoin to. For this I would suggest getting yourself a BlockChain Wallet, https://blockchain.info/wallet/#/ .There is also the "no prepaid cards" issue with most places you can purchase BitCoin online. There are a few different options here, 1st, Look to see if there is a BitCoin ATM in your area. For this just do a "BitCoin ATM near me" search on Google. Here you should be able to purchase BitCoin with cash and just send it directly to your BlockChain Wallet. 2nd, You can also check out purchasing BitCoin from LocalBitCoins.com, https://localbitcoins.com/buy_bitcoins , most sellers will have you make a cash deposit through their bank. Just be careful and always use the website when purchasing so you have a record of your transactions to help should there be any cause for disputes. Once again you can have the BitCoin you purchase sent directly to your BlockChain Wallet. The 3rd option to dealing with the no prepaid cards issue is to get yourself a secured credit card. For this my suggestion would be to apply first for an unsecured card at Capital One, https://www.capitalone.com . Even if you do not have the best credit you just might be surprised? If you do not qualify for an unsecured card they will most likely offer you a secured card option. This will not only solve the no prepaids issue, unlike the prepaids it will also help to rebuild your credit and usually within a year, with all payments made on time, they will offer you an unsecured option. BitCoin is a great way for U.S.A. player's to deposit and withdraw at most online casinos. I've been using the methods above for a little over a year and a half now and find it these ways have been my best options for using BitCoin. If you have any questions I'd be glad to address them the best I can. JUST REMEMBER, WHEN IT COMES TO BITCOIN TO DO YOUR RESEARCH NO MATTER WHICH OPTIONS YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH!

    Much Luck to Everyone,

    Bubba

  • Thanks Bubba,  I was just about to respond with much the same message and you beat me to it.   Lady Enygma,  I pretty much agree with everything Bubba just said.   Good advice.   I was really tired last night and didn't explain about the wallet part.  Blockchain is good,  Cubits I think is faster however.   Both are decent wallets for storing, transferring Bitcoin.   Prepaids,  as I have found,  is pretty much a dead end in many sites as far as depositing, etc.   Like I said earlier,   you really need a credit card and/or a debit card tied to a checking acct.    I have a Uquid acct.  with a virtual VISA and they wouldn't accept it.  (Coinbase)  I was highly pissed. I got it because I thought I could get a  physical card to go with the acct.  NO!  because I'm in the US.   Anyway,  long story short,  check out You Tube videos on these subjects for more clarification.   Hope this helps.

  • Lady Enygma,   any luck?
