Back Smashing Wild is Back! Microgaming's Ice Hockey Slot Break Away Deluxe Makes a Triumphant Return

It's face-off time! Ice hockey is making a big comeback on slot reels, thanks to Microgaming and their inexhaustible working spirit – the Isle of Man-based producer has so far had a magnificent summer, releasing several cutting-edge titles already.

And now there's another one to add to the pile. Break Away Deluxe has been conceived in collaboration with Stormcraft Studios, an independent gaming studio that already yielded some terrific slots – including sequels to popular games, such as Agent Jane Blonde Returns.

All Enhanced, All Made Deluxe

Think Break Away, and then add some technical and visual glamour...

...and that's what you get with Break Away Deluxe, packed with action and high volatility, all delivered in a 5x5 configuration accessible via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The mechanics used for this game is that of Rolling Reels, meaning that players can opt between 18, 38, 68 and 88 paylines at any point – of course, more lines meaning a bigger winning potential.

One other important factor of the game, also making a return, is the Smashing Wild feature that has been put on “steroids,” so to speak: it's a super enhanced feature that randomly turns one of the middle reels wild that sets up a guaranteed win and freezes it in place for all subsequent spins.

Super stacked wilds that appear in the base game on reels three, four and five are also contributing to the scoring bit.

Extra Spins Come With Icing on a Cake

As is the norm with slots in general...

...landing three or more wilds will trigger the bonus spins round, and in the case of this release, you get 12 of these with a multiplier trail up to 8x! This particular feature includes Growing Wilds on reels two to five, which increases every wild stack by one wild with each spin and intensifies the excitement throughout the entire feature.

With Portrait Mobile in Mind

Stormcraft Studios' Executive producer, Terence Igesund, gave a very thorough comment on this release:

“We are really looking forward to the wider launch of Break Away Deluxe, the next generation of the very successful slot brand. Designing a sequel to a popular game is always challenging as expectations from fans of the original game need to be considered. At Stormcraft, we believe that successful sequels are not reinventions but carefully considered extensions.

So, we set out to enhance the user experience with more choices for the player as well as increased excitement by extending the volatility. The Rolling Reels™ and Multiplier trail are still there but can now be enjoyed in a new reel configuration with the addition of Growing Wilds™ during the Free Spins feature. Designed with portrait mobile play in mind, the new mechanics are highly entertaining and offers great win potential.”

High Volatility Experience

Microgaming's Director of Global Operations, James Buchanan, remarks:

“Break Away Deluxe takes all the action of the phenomenally popular original slot, layering it up with even more exciting and rewarding features. Stormcraft Studios have successfully created a high volatility slot experience, with excellent win potential up to 3,200x the initial bet. We’re looking forward to seeing fans and new players alike immerse themselves in this engrossing update of a true Microgaming classic.”

The latest title is now live across all Microgaming (which has been on a spree of new releases such as Sherlock of London, Magic of Sahara and the continuation of Jungle Jim saga) operators.
