Licensee reports form basis for the statistics

The2009/10 industry statistics have been published by the UK Gambling Commission, which in August announced a change in the publication date for its annual statistics document from the summer to later in the year. This change was meant to enable direct comparisons between all data sets, and allow more time to ensure the accuracy of the published data.

The report is based on regulatory returns completed by operators and it includes comparative figures for the 2008/09 financial year, whereas its data cover the period between 1 April 2009 and 31 March 2010 on activity in the arcade, betting, bingo, casino and lotteries sectors plus data on gaming machines and remote gambling (page 23).
