37 arrested and 183 computers seized as a result

This week the Malaysian police have been engaged in another series of six raids targeting illegal online gambling operators. The police reports stated that four of the premises have already been raided four times.

On the occasion, 37 persons were arrested, most of them in the twenties, and the police also seized 183 computers. According to the Kuala Lumpur police anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division staff officer DSP Razali Abu Samah: "Each of the premises was equipped with closed circuit television cameras and entry required password activation."

It was stated by the company spokesman that, based on the researched revenue growth in Canada, the internet gambling market noted a 30 percent growth from 2003 to 2008, so the forecasts say that by 2012, it will reach around a billion dollars. In the past almost all of this had gone to offshore entities.

Pursuing the example set by the European governments, Loto Québec had decided to do the same: legalize online gambling for their citizens, channel the gaming offering in a controlled circuit and inside a secure environment characterized by many responsible gaming options.
