A jazz-age magic show provides the theme for Playtech’s The Great Reveal. 

This elegant five-reel slot, set in the Roaring Twenties, offers two strong bonus features, including free spins with guaranteed stacked wild symbols.

Theme

In this Art Deco theater, red velvet curtains flank the reels and jazz music keeps things swinging. The overall feel of gameplay is festive and fun.

Gaming symbols include the elegant magician himself, as well as his hat, gloves, and wand, a flying dove, a red rose, a hopping rabbit, and playing cards. The card values ace through jack act as lower-value symbols. A scatter symbol bearing the slot’s title appears on the middle three reels only, while glamorous ladies (in flapper costume) act as stacked wilds.

Betting Options and Functions

The glory of a great magic show is its seeming ease in the face of impossible acts. The Playtech design team, with its over 20 years of experience, demonstrates that it, too, can attend to every detail of a subtle task while making things seem as simple as can be.

There are a whopping 40 fixed paylines, all paying from left to right. Bet size is set simply along a very broad bet range, from 0.10–500.00 times the betting currency.

Autoplay is available for as many as 100 spins at a time, or without limit until the bonus feature is triggered – players should be careful, however, as there are no loss limits available. Turbo mode can be engaged, should players wish for a quicker game tempo. Game rules, paytable information, and player settings are available on separate screens. Information regarding this game’s theoretical RTP is not available, a major oversight by the design team…. or perhaps these magicians would prefer not to reveal their tricks.

Features

The first of this slot’s magical bonus symbols, the Wild Reveal Feature, is available on any spin. Two padlocks sit above each reel during the main game: the key symbol opens the padlock above the reel on which it lands. When both padlocks above a given reel are open, a stacked wild fills that reel for the next two spins. Padlocks above the reels lock again after the feature is triggered, but the two keys needed to unlock this bonus need not occur on the same (or even adjacent) spin(s).

More involved is this title’s second bonus feature, The Great Reveal Free Games. During this feature, fully stacked wilds are available on multiple reels on every spin. When three scatter symbols appear on the middle reels, players are given a choice: 3 free games with 3 stacked wilds per spin; 6 free games with 2-3 stacked wilds per spin; or 10 free games with 2 stacked wilds per spin. Furthermore, scatter symbols remain on the reels during the feature – every time one appears, an additional free spin is awarded.

Our Take

The Great Reveal has a lot going for it: the theme is winning, the design charming, and the bonus feature enticing. If only RTP were clear, it would be easy to give this slot a strong recommendation… without that information, though, players must proceed with caution.
