Stockholm and Helsinki based developer, Snowborn Gaming has a couple of new games on the horizon, with neon-themed title Miami Glow being one of them, developed in collaboration with giants Microgaming.

The game displays stunning 3D art and a beautiful, visual setting as well elegant symbolism to enhance the game’s atmosphere of winning big.

Feel the warm summer nights and the glow of the neon lights of Ocean Drive in this classical slot with a smooth retro twist and its 5 reels and 10 pay lines.

Like its previous release, this 3D game also possesses its fair share of features which turned out to be rather effective.

Theme & Design

This is a classical title with a smooth retro twist. 

Miami Glow features crisp, beautiful 3D art whisking the player away to a warmer place that is synonymous with neon, largely thanks to the bright lights of South Beach. 

Combining the Miami Vice looks with a dash of synth and the sunny, futuristic, yet old school vibe makes for an interesting theme. 

The background is a minimalists dream, letting the 5 reels, 10 pay line grid hog the limelight.

A retro soundtrack is mandatory on this style of game, and this release doesn’t disappoint, as the tune sounds like one you’d hear on a montage of Jean-Claude Van Damme training scenes.

Overall, audio/visuals are sparse, there is little in the way of background imagery, yet it all fits together well.

Betting Options

In the case of Miami Glow, for 10 active lines, you must spend at least 20 p/c to get the action going, and you will be able to increase the amount up to £/€20 per spin. 

The stats produced by the math model should please an array of players. Wins happen regularly with an official hit rate of 22.78%, or better than 1 in 5. 

By contrast, the volatility has been medium to high, so expect dry runs interspersing the better moments, and an RTP of 96.09% helps temper things out.

The main rule is to land winning combinations of at least three matching symbols from the first reel onwards. 

The paytable’s eight regular symbols get the full fluorescent treatment, including clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, hot lips, flamingos, cocktails and a diamond, with their values solid as well...

...starting at x4 for five of the clubs up to 50 times the stake for a line of five diamonds. 

The bright green wild is also worth the same as the diamond on its own, or it can substitute for all other symbols except Glow symbols.

Special Features

This neon-themed title comes with three features:

• Sticky Wilds
• Multipliers
• The Glow Bonus

Sticky Wilds can substitute for any symbol except the Glow symbol and are worth the same as the premium diamond in combinations.

Also, when any Sticky Wild lands in view, it triggers the Sticky Wild Respin feature.

Any Sticky Wilds to appear on the reels are held in position for the duration of the feature, and whenever a new one lands, another respin is awarded. 

This process continues until no new Sticky Wilds lands when it’s back to the regular base game. Wins are paid on each successful respin, with any active Multiplier applied as well.

The Multiplier feature itself can trigger on any spin, and value of x2, x3, x5, or x10 is randomly selected for a single spin and is applied to any win that occurs. 

Last up are Glow symbols which appear on reels 1, 3, and 5, and when all 3 land in view simultaneously, 1 free spin is awarded where wilds are stacked and can cover up to all 5 reels at once.

To Conclude

Miami Glow features beautifully designed neon-style graphics, a fantastic 80s-inspired soundtrack, and a nice set of bonus features to keep the action motoring along nicely.

On the whole, it is quite a decent game, and in many ways, it’s an improvement over Snowborn’s first release.

Overall potential isn’t bad either, as a full grid of diamonds or wilds, boosted by the x10 multiplier, is worth 5,000 times the stake.
