Sigma Gaming
Math and game design are becoming a more and more important part of online slots. It is no longer enough to simply port old copies or reskin the same old games.
Nowadays you need to build up slots that are truly different. This is what Sigma Gaming has set out to do since they began operations in 2012(or 2014 depending on how you count).
The company is licensed in the United Kingdom, and their list of partner companies include some of the biggest gaming companies in the field, such as Leander and Microgaming. They have been slowly building up a considerable portfolio of games. This collection is available in more and more online casinos.
Centred around two personalities
This company is quite unique in the sense that it seems to be rather small and centred around two personalities. James is responsible for the marketing side, and he draws from his considerable experience in the field. This includes working for one of the biggest slot producers ever: IGT. Kevin, on the other hand, deals with the game design and management, having experience with countless slots and more importantly with a dozen or so different jurisdictions.
This approach comes with advantages and disadvantages. What we can say for sure is that there certainly is room for this type of solution in the field of iGaming.
Experience but what about innovation?
As soon as you take a look at the games provided by the company it is quite clear that innovation is not at the top of the list. Or rather, changing the game, going mobile first, and other buzzwords that many new companies ride into the battle with are somewhat missing here. And in this case, that is a good thing. The company has a lot of experience to draw from, meaning that what they can do they can do well.
This is not to say that graphics, sound effects, animations and such things would be completely missing. Or that the games would not run on mobile devices. It’s all there, it’s just not the most important part. The underlying mechanisms might also change significantly from title to title. The main point, however, remains to offer good quality slots that are easy to play and that don’t necessarily break the mould in as many ways as possible.
