Went to Harrah's in Joliet last weekend. Hadn't been there in 5 or 6 years, maybe longer. It was a nice getaway, but (bad news first) I couldn't believe how the casino did not seem to be changed at all since I was there last. The majority of the slot machines were the really old ones and they didn't seem to have many of the new machines that have come out in the last few years. Also, they were changing the carpeting (on a Saturday really?) so one very large area had no slots in it at all and randomly slots were turned off in other areas that had slots working. But they have a whole room of video poker machines and they were all working so that was nice. I would go to the smoking room to smoke every so often. Room was kind of disgusting. Not clean, etc. For the good news, The hotel was very nice and connected to the casino. The food was very good. I did hit 2 royals on Saturday night. Couldn't believe it. I haven't done that in a very, very long time. With all my gambling, I only came home about $500 ahead, but I am happy about that. Better than coming home a loser. We ended up getting one night room comped and we got 2 Easter buffets comped. We had a very nice meal in the Reserve restaurant and used our points. It was delicious. So all in all it was fun and something different. But I don't see myself going back there anytime soon. I was very disappointed with the casino (even though I won) and with their tier point system. Spend $10 in VP to get 1 point? That is pretty outrageous if you ask me. And $5 in slots to get 1 point. Then there is the traffic, construction, and tolls cash lanes that makes it pain to drive. We had 4 tolls and no IPass. Just my opinion of my experience at Harrah's in Joliet, Illinois on a weekend.
