Located in the Mexican state of Coahuila, is the city of Torreon. It has a population of roughly 610,000 people, and with Gomez Palacio and Lerdo, comprises the Comarca Lagunera (or La Laguna/The Lagoon), a basin in the Chihuahuan Desert. It got its name from the 3 surrounding dry lagoons, the Lagoon of Mayran, the Lagoon of Viesca and the Lagoon of Tlahualilo. The city is served by the Francisco Sarabia International Airport. A noteworthy attraction in the city is the Cristo de las Noas, the third tallest statue of Jesus Christ in Latin America (the other 2 being Christ the Redeemer in Brazil and the Cristo de la Concordia in Bolivia ). You can find it on the Cerro de las Noas hill, where there’s also a Catholic church which provides great views of the city below.

Gaming

After viewing the various attractions throughout the city, head into the casino for a light session of gambling. While no table games, they do offer a selection of classic and video slot machines coming in various denominations. If you prefer to spend your time playing bingo, look for the electronic bingo terminals. When deciding to bet on horses and internationally televised sporting events, head to the casino’s sportsbook.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site. Near the casino you can find the Fiesta Inn Torreon Galerias Hotel. The hotel is located within the Galerias Laguna shopping centre, providing convenient access to shopping and quick dining by using the food court. The hotel is also about 5 minutes from the local airport. Rooms here come equipped with 29” televisions and either 2 double beds or a king sized bed. Be sure to gather information about all the nearby attractions, best eateries and cool hang outs.

Dining

For varied cuisine, you can pretty much find a little bit of everything in the city, with such offerings as Japanese, Chinese, French and Arabian. And of course, you won’t be lacking for authentic Mexican cuisine. Try Los Farolitos, which has been around since 1965, and offering classic Mexican fare, or Tio Taco, with their over 25 different types of tacos available on the menu. If looking for Italian, with menu items like pastas, soups and salads, there’s Italianni’s. When looking for something a little heartier, like steaks, there’s Los Adobe’s as well as Steak Palenque. For further dining options, ask hotel or casino staff to point you in the direction of those places that are both popular with locals and tourists, or walk about the city, choosing your own favourite places.

Attractions/NightLife

Get a feel for the culture and history of the region by visiting one or all of the local museums. Some include the Museo Arocena, the Museo Regional de la Laguna and the Museo de la Revolucion. Each is open Tuesdays through Sundays, closed on Mondays. To check out religious sites and structures, head to the Cristo de las Noas, 3rd tallest statue of Jesus Christ in Latin America. Local festivals in the city include the Cotton and Grape Fair (Feria del Agodon y La Uva) with its bull-fighting, amusement rides, music and cultural events, held in September, and the Laguna Drumfest, showcasing local and international drummers, held in October. Come nightfall, head to the one of the local bars and clubs, like Kpital or D-Var. Cantares also has live music.

Rewards/Deals

The casino does not currently have a player rewards system in place. Be sure to ask staff about any possible contests or promotions which might be running during your visit.
