Casino Foliatti

Torreon is a city in the Mexican state of Coahuila and has a population of around 610,000 people. It’s part of the Laguna region which also includes Gomez Palacio and Lerdo. The name comes from the three (dry) lagoons in the area – the Lagoon of Mayran, the Lagoon of Tlahualilo, and the Lagoon of Viesca. Begin your trip in one of the local museums to learn a bit of culture and history of the area. Some include the Museo Regional de la Laguna, the Museo Arocena and the Museo de la Revolucion, all open Tuesdays through Sundays, closed Mondays. Besides trying some regional cuisine, there's several venues serving up a wide array of international fare. After checking out the various attractions, head over to the casino for a session of gambling, then maybe hit the city for some drinks out when finished.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site. Less than a mile from the casino you can find the Fiesta Inn Torreon Galerias Hotel, located within the Galerias Laguna shopping centre, convenient for shopping, or grabbing quick eats in the food court. The hotel is also near the local airport. Rooms come equipped with 2 double beds or king sized bed and 29” televisions. Be sure while here to spend some time talking to staff to grab information on all the attractions within the area, bars to hang out at and the best places to eat.

Dining

There’s ample opportunity to sample authentic Mexican fare, as well as venues serving up various international cuisine, like Japanese, Chinese, French and Arabian. Los Farolitos serves classic Mexican fare, or try Tio Taco, with over 25 different types of taco on the menu. For something a bit heartier like steaks, there’s Steak Palenque or Los Adobes, the latter also with live music. If Italian is what you’re craving, there’s Italianni’s, with its pastas, salads and soups.

Attractions/NightLife

Depending on when you’re in the area, there’s a couple of local festivals you might be interested in checking out. The Cotton and Grape Fair, with its amusement park rides, music and cultural events occurs in September. Drumfest, with local and international drummers, arrives in October. When it’s time to hit the streets for some night life, try Kpital, D-Var or Cantares, which also has live music. During days, head into one of the local museums, like the Museo Regional de la Laguna, the Museo Arocena, or the Museo de la Revolucion. If you’re keen on religious sites and structures, check out the Cristo de las Noas, 3rd tallest statue of Christ in Latin America, reaching 71.5 ft. The nearby church also offers panoramic views of the city from above.
