Casino de Megève

Megeve is a French commune in the Haute-Savoie department and in the Rhone-Alpes region. This south-eastern French town has around 4000 people and is a popular resort getaway due to its proximity to Mont Blanc in the French Alps. Fame first entered the region back in 1910 once the Rothschilds opted to make it a resort destination and has since appeared in film, most notably the Grant/Hepburn movie Charade. Once the exclusive getaway of the Aristocracy, Megeve is still considered to be one of the most expensive of the French resorts, so be sure to start saving your pennies if you plan on coming here for holidays.

The casino provides a fleet of 65 classic and video slot machines and video poker terminals, ranging in denominations starting as low as one cent and climbing to 5 EUR. Slots operate daily at 10:30 am and close at 3 am after April and 4:30 am from December through to the end of March. Table games include blackjack and English roulette, operating 9 pm until 3 am. Dining

After a hot and cold breakfast in the chalet enjoy a 3 course dinner with your package with items like pear and fennel salad, roast duck breast and mousse. In the casino, there’s L’Equipe, open Wednesday through Saturday and Sunday lunch. Restaurants nearby include L’Alpage with its fondues and raclette, Les Enfants Terribles (‘Brats’) with its relaxing ambient music and traditional cuisine, Le Vieux Megeve, a family run restaurant with Savoyarde cuisine, and La Table du Pecheur, with its seafood menu.

Attractions/NightLife

Look for live concerts in The Purple Lounge Casino de Megeve. For dancing, there’s the disco Palo Alto. Other night clubs in the area include The Wake Up, Cocoon Club, Les Caves de Megeve, 5 Streets and The Savage. Various cultural events throughout the year include the Mege Polo Masters, the Snow Golf Cup, the Megeve Jazz Contest, Summertime Megeve, Jumping International de Megeve and the Feast of Traditional Crafts. The primary draw to the area is the skiing, with over 450 km of trails throughout the area. Religious sites include the Church of St John the Baptist (dating back to the 13th century), and Croix Saint-Michel (19th century). Other attractions include the Hollow Saint-Jean and the home of Henry Jacques Le Meme.
