Casino Yellowhead

Once a warehouse, Casino Yellowhead is purportedly the largest casino in Western Canada, and the largest of 4 sister casinos owned by Casino ABS (Alberta Bingo supplies). The casino runs a western/Hollywood theme, sporting cowboy bronzes, metal sculptures and an authentic stage-coach. Opening in August of 2000, the refurbished space is now a 75,000 sq foot casino running along the east/west Yellowhead Trail.

Gaming

Slots, games and poker are aplenty here. Casino Yellowhead boasts 773 slot machines and 10 video lottery terminals (VLTs). In total, there are an additional 27 live action table games including 12 blackjack tables, craps, 3 mini baccarat and crazy 4. Their 12 table poker room operates 24 hours daily with tournaments on Mondays and Fridays with a $100 buy-in, Wednesdays and Saturdays with a $50 buy-in, and the second Saturday of each month there is a deep stack with a $300 buy-in.

Dining

Casino Yellowhead offers several venues. If steaks are your food of choice, then the Stagecoach Grill is the restaurant for you. The menu may vary but hungry patrons can order breakfast, lunch and dinner which run all day. Thursday evenings offer a Western Chinese buffet, breakfast buffets on Saturdays and Sundays, and a prime rib dinner on Saturdays. Spurs is their cocktail lounge but food can be ordered from the Stagecoach Grill menu. Enjoy sports events such as pay-per-view Oilers games and NHL centre ice match-ups. Buffalo Bar serves drinks in its modest 18-seat setting but here too, food can be ordered from the Stagecoach Grill menu.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 9 pm, you can catch live and tribute bands in their 140 seat showroom which also contains a dance floor and is host to major yearly events such as New Year and Chinese New Year celebrations. Sporting events can also be viewed on their 11 foot flat screen television.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site. Nearby is the West Edmonton Truckland, offering continental breakfast and an adjacent Denny's, and the Ramada at the airport less than 5 minutes away. Other options include the Travelodge and Edmonton West Budget hotels.
