Cowboys Casino

Cowboys Casino, formerly Stampede Casino, has one of the longest pedigrees of any permanent Alberta facility. The casino dates back to 1969 and opened its doors in its current incarnation in 2008. The western Canadian casino has a Vegas-style atmosphere with its red and black accents, water fountains and nightclub feel. The casino is noted for its Party Zone with female staff, showgirls and Vegas-esque dancers. Cowboys Casino is located downtown close to all shopping amenities, bars, and restaurants and is on the corner of the stampede grandstand grounds near St. Patrick’s Island and the BMO Centre, a source for varied concerts, shows and events.

Gaming

The casino currently has 400 of the newest video and classic slot machines, live video roulette and touch bet roulette. There are 34 tables of 8 different games including blackjack, roulette, craps, baccarat, fortune pai gow, tile pai gow, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, EZ baccarat (including handheld) and a private handheld baccarat room. Players new to the game can learn how to play on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Their themed pit comes complete with cowgirls. The Players Zone is sports themed with 4 scoreboard tvs and blackjack. Check it out Friday and Saturday nights. Their poker room has 14 tables offering Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and pineapple with both limit and no limit. Keep your eyes peeled for Zen’s Grill, located inside the casino. Coming soon! Visit Melrose Café and Bar, a relaxing environment to meet people or chat with friends. Of special note is their vegetarian menu. Light fare includes soup and sandwiches, with heartier entrees including strip loin, salmon and assorted pasta dishes. Wednesday is Ladies Night. Ask about discount martinis. And Thursdays offer ½ price pizza. The Centre Bar offers easy fare and economic breakfasts.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Cowboys Night Club offers a little bit of everything for everyone. Bacardi sponsors long weekend parties with live DJ, special guests, live music and a hopping dance floor. Check the calendar for current offerings. Man Cave Wednesdays bring you girls on trampolines, poker and chances to win prizes. Cowboy film festivals run every Thursday during the winter season. Local favourite is So You Think You Can Dance Cowboys, with cash prizes up to $10,000. Ask a representative for dates and details.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are currently no hotels on site. Local options include Premier Executive Suites closely located 0.5 km away. Hotel Arts, with its 185 suites, offers conference and banquet facilities, internet, a heated outdoor pool, fitness centre and is a mere 0.9 km away from the casino. Additionally, there is the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel, 1 km away, with health club, indoor swimming pool, internet, lcd tvs and suites offered in king and doubles.
