Surprises in football

I am also surprised with loss of Germany yesterday.They usually win matches like this....

Island definitely goes to the European Championship? Really surprise for me

Island deserved that with the way they played.They were close in last qualifications for World Cup.They were eliminated by Croatioa in knockout stage.

Iceland were one of the best teams in this qualifications. They secured place in France last month. They conceded only 5 goals in this qualifications, and that is great achievement.

But if we talk about Iceland like surprise I can't agree with that state. If you see how they work with youth players and all their youth teams are good so it was only matter of time when will they show quality and that was now.

Still when nobody(or at least very few people) expected that it can be categorized as a surprise. Too few people follow that closely the results of the youth formations ;)

I am not so surprised with their success.They are good team,every player  knows exactly what to do on the pitch in every minute.

And they will.The failure of Netherlands is one of the biggest surprise for me in the qualifications. Nobody expected that before qualifications started. Huge upset for them.

Really great scorer even at that age, it's pity that he wont be able to participate at the European championship which probably would been his last big event.

The Netherlands is a good team and will remain ,one of the teams titrated but is in a period of reconstruction and i m  convinced that in the next campaign will look different, in a good way.

I also agree that this is weird to see Netherlands out of competition,but it is normal ,cause they are in phase of reconstruction team.

Reconstruction or not it's still a big failure for them. For sure they have good enough squad to be there so that didn't have to be an excuse especially for team with  such an ambitions.

I could tell the same mate. I think they were little scared when they were top of the standings but it's easier for them now from mental point of view now when they didn't have to defend the first place.

It was expected to be tough,but it is surprise to see Dynamo Kiev drawing with Chelsea.Another bad result for the blues.I suppose there will be big changes in January transfer window...

It's some kind of a surprise that Chelsea only managed to drew with Dynamo Kiev but Ukraine is always tough place to play at. But for many people the most surprising result was in the  Arsenal- Bayern game although I'm sure they will tell now that this was expected ;)

It was just perfect tactical game by Venger. Arsenal looked the more dangerous side trough whole  game although the play was in their half for the bigger part, but they could be so effectively killing  on counters and that's how  they win in fact.

In Champions League,English teams have advantage due to the pressure of playing Premier League.Bayern is already champion in Germany.In Premier League you can struggle every match.

I don't think this is an advantage for the English side's just the other way round it's an advantage for Bayern that they could calmly concentrate on the CL games.

It is a bad thing,when you dont have tough matches in your league.Players are too relaxed and when it comes to play decisive matches in Champions League,players from hardest leagues are feeling more comfortable.

From that point of view OK, but I don't think the games in the Bundesliga are so easy for Bayern, and beside that they couldn't afford to be relaxed in the CL, not a competition that they've won every year.

If we look realistically think that Bayern twice as powerful than any in the Bundesliga.It can be dangerous for strong matches in Champions League.

OK mate, I understand that, just you think this a bad thing for them when they have to play in Europe and I think it's a benefit. Probably there is some true in both statements, nothing wrong that we have a different opinions ;)

Speaking of surprises Liverpool drew 1-1 at the moment with Rubin at home, just 5 minutes before the end, could be another one.

It's logical that they do play better, it will be hard for them to play worst than so far in the season, almost impossible, but still the result is missing.

Will arrive the results only slowly.

Now for the weekend I think they will at home to beat Southampton.

Yeah I think this could be a good opportunity for Liverpool to win finally but anyway I won't put my money on that.

Someone would call the surprise,someone wouldnt but West Ham defeated Chelsea.Great start of the season for Bilic.He defeated all the good teams.

Yes they can,if you look at the table,you will see that West Ham is at 3rd place,which is fantastic result.

Excellent job for Slaven Bilic this season. West Ham still has a lot to do.

Even this is big surprise for the Hammers.If they qualify for some European competition,it will be huge success.

Nice to see them so high in the standings, of course they would not be there in the end but they give a fresh look to the standings, beside they have many fans even out of England so congrats to them all.

West Ham is probably one of most popular English clubs ,outside of Britain.Their rivalry with Millwall might be the biggest rivalry in UK.

This is true as regards the two clubs.

Only a great pity that they rarely meet.
