  • Inspired Gaming obtained brand licensing to use Mike Tyson in its Rush Boxing offering. Yes, he is a former heavyweight world champion but his personal life hasn't been the greatest. He was married to Robin Givens and used his boxing moves on her. He was also convicted and did prison time for rape.

So, the question is, does he deserve this honor and to be glorified in a game based on his boxing career or should there have been more care taken on the part of Inspired (considering he beat his wife and is a convicted rapist) when they chose him? Also, who do you think would have been a worthy candidate in his place?

P.S. That face tattoo looks ridiculous.

  • Mike Tyson  ,,Iron Mike"  s real name  is Michael Gerard Tyson ...such a great boxer. I m hapy to mentioned some things about Mike. I hope i m not off topic; so...Mike born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 30, 1966, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight boxing champion of the world in 1986, at age 20. First trainer, like a father, boxing manager Constantine "Cus" D'Amato, who had a gym in Catskill, New York. The relationship between D'Amato and Tyson was more than that of a professional trainer and a boxer—it was also one of a father and son. To be continued...

  • Alongside Michael Jordan and Muhamed Ali he is one of the most popular and most inspiring sport persons. His life ,full of up and downs really should be filmed.

All ready had been filmed mate ;)

Alongside Michael Jordan and Muhamed Ali he is one of the most popular and most inspiring sport persons.

Honestly not a fan or inspired by any of these three.

  • I am not talking about normal people,I am talking about professional athletes. A lot of them will say that one of those is their role model.

Buddy, we all can access Wikipedia or Biography.com to read that, no need to copy and paste it here. Thanks.

  • The virtual game even made it to the Italian market this month as a result of Inspired's partnership with SNAI. The comments here address his successful boxing career but the question is whether or not he deserves glorification considering his horrific behavior in his personal life.

I say no way. Careers have been destroyed for less.

Fantastic topic froggy! I for one like to see topics that generate debates. I am totally against there being a game created in his honor. A great boxer.........well if you consider biting the ear of his opponent in a Boxing match a great boxer than okie dokie. But as with any athlete it goes beyond your athletic ability when someone pulls shots like abuse to woman, rape and biting an ear in a ring.

I say HELL no to this game!

First of all I had to tell You I'm biased. I was a big fan of Iron Mike.

Maybe You're right, but I think (cliche ON) everyone deserves a second chance no matter what they have done (cliche OFF). Don't forget, he had a hard childhood. I really hate when a man beats a woman because that's not manly. In my opinion a man needs to do everything to be gentleman.

But that was a hard time for him. He found Brad Pitt in the bed with his girlfriend/wife. Cheating is the most disgusting thing.

    I say YES, he deserves.

  • I don't see the reason for the big controversy to be honest. It's a marketing move for Inspired Gaming, they probably think they'll get some PR coverage and a few more players using Tyson's name and image. It's a free economy, the market will tell whether they were wrong or right.

But after all they are featuring his name in a game, they are not naming a school or a street after him.

  • I think it's obvious that they did it to gain a "a few more players" and in no way have I compared this deal to "naming a school or a street after him". With that said, Tyson has committed rape and battery so as a consumer/player I would want no part of that. It was clearly designed for those who don't see the big deal.

I think you misunderstood part of what I said. What he did is a big deal indeed, I don't like the guy as I can't approve of anybody that has committed rape or battery. But it's their marketing choice, as a customer I can move my business elsewhere and that's that.

  • I don't see the reason for the big controversy to be honest.

I think the reason froggy made it a "controversy" was to create a thread that opens the door to debate. And some of the posts so far have been interesting to hear different opinions. I think it is great for group discussions. More than likely i think men in general see the champion boxer, whereas women see the abuse and rape.

To an extent i see where you are coming from with whats the  "big deal" mentality and it probably hinges on where you are located. In the US (and i think that is the motive behind froggy's post) is everything about anybody is raked through the coals on much less matters as news media hypes it up and creates irreversible damage to a person(s) and entire communities.

Therefore this is yet another topic that  knocks on the liberals and the non-liberal doors. It is interesting see what side of Tyson each one of us wants to embrace or disgrace.

  • it probably hinges on where you are located.

Might be true. I tend to give private companies the benefit of the doubt and the liberty to choose how they do their marketing (inside the limits of the law, obviously), but I don't allow something like that from state institutions (hence the street/school name comparison).

As for Tyson, he is a failed athlete because he threw away an immense talent, he could have been champion of the world for at least two decades.

He also is a failed human being. I can forgive somebody for stealing, because that person might have stolen because he was hungry, I can even forgive somebody for killing another human being, because he might have acted in self defence. But I can't forgive rape, there's no reason that can justify doing that. He has seven children as far as I know, at least I hope he can take care of them.

P.S.: Tyson announced that he is supporting Donald Trump's presidential candidacy.

  • It's definitely great to read everyone's opinions and we are all differ. I see Tyson from a negative angle especially with regard to licensing his likeness in a game. There is meant to be a certain level of honor is sportsmanship and it's very difficult to look up to or respect his career knowing what we do. The current climate in the US is that we are so quick to jump on people for less and we've seen careers destroyed for what seems trivial in comparison to this guy.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I was curious to see where we all stood on an issue like this. Why do we crucify some and not others? Does he deserve the hefty paycheck he received for this? These are the things I wondered when I initially read about the contract.

Donald Trump? Next it really will be Kanye West.  :o What are we doing?

  • Does he deserve the hefty paycheck he received for this?

He always seems to be finding somebody willing to give him some money, then after a while he comes up on TV again saying he's broke (has happened a few times already as far as I know).

  • Never liked Mike Tyson as a boxer or a person. I don't think he's  the most talented boxer either because the boxing is not only power  and hitting strength. One of the best boxers I ever saw is Evender Holyfield who was lither but for me a lot talented than Tyson. And I don't even have to mention "The Bight Fight"...

  • Yeah he would have been a good choice even Floyd Mayweather would have been a fabulous choice. There are loads of great boxers out there.
