  • Well, it ended 0-0... That's it, no more betting on soccer friendlies, too unpredictable.

  • They are that man if a team is properly practising they will go for it but I think half the time the playera aren't motivated for them as theres nothing to gain apart from practise thats a little better than training.

  • Event: Tommy Haas vs Ernests Gulbis, ATP Stuttgart

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.96

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.68

This should be a pretty good match between two very talented players. It's true that Haas is a lot older and more experienced and he will also have the home crowd advantage, but Gulbis is an extremely dangerous player if he feels like playing today. They have met five times before, Haas won three and Gulbis two. Three of the direct meetings were this year and two of them ended in three sets. I expect a close and spectacular match.

  • The prediction was correct, Haas won in three sets: 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.

  • Event: Grigor Dimitrov vs Juan Monaco, ATP Bastad

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 2.05

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.35

Juan Monaco is the favourite in this match, he is slightly better ranked and has won all three previous meetings with Dimitrov. But the Bulgarian player is making constant progress, seems in good shape and certainly doesn't lack talent. I think Dimitrov will give Monaco a good run for his money, he might even beat him I reckon, but I don't think it will be a clear victory for Juan Monaco.

  • Hm, wasn't expecting Monaco to be so weak, Dimitrov won 6-3 6-2!

  • Event: Metalist Kharkov - Metalurg Donetsk, Ukraine Soccer Premier League

    Bet: Over 2.5 goals

    Odds: 1.91

    Sportsbook: 10Bet

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.28

Both are good teams with productive attacks in this summer's friendly games. Moreover, both matches they played against each other last season ended with at least four goals scored. Considering that it's the first competitive match of the season for both sides their defensive lines might not be yet fully organised so I expect a match with more than three goals.

  • What was the odds for a draw no bet? that bet would maybe also have potential

  • What was the odds for a draw no bet? that bet would maybe also have potential

Prediction was wrong, Metalist won 1-0. Too late for DNB odds now :)

  • Event: Florian Mayer - Aleksandr Dolgopolov, ATP Hamburg

    Bet: Mayer to win

    Odds: 1.73

    Sportsbook: BetVictor

    Stake: 10/10

    Projected profits: 7.30

Dolgopolov had a good Wimbledon, reached the third round and lost to Ferrer in five sets, so one might think he is in good shape. Mayer won a challenger a couple of weeks ago and then was beaten by Monfils last week. Overall I don't think Dolgopolov can beat Mayer in front of his home fans, despite his better ranking.

  • The prediction was correct, Mayer defeated Dolgopolov in straight sets.

  • Event: Juan Monaco vs Gael Monfils

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 2.04

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.28

Monaco had a poor performance in Bastad last week when he was defeated in the quarter finals by Dimitrov while Monfils was defeated at the same stage in Stuttgart by Kohlschreiber. Monaco will be highly motivated here as he won the Hamburg tournament last year while Monfils, slowly getting back in shape, will be determined to put on another one of his shows. I think it will be an entertaining and close match between two very good players.

  • Wrong, Monaco won 6-4 6-4.

  • Event: Petrolul vs Vikingur, UEFA Europa League

    Bet: Petrolul -2.5 Asian Handicap

    Odds: 1.74

    Sportsbook: 10Bet

    Stake: 10/10

    Projected profits: 7.40

Romanian Cup winners Petrolul face Vikingur tonight, a team from the Faroe Islands with mostly amateur players in their ranks. A clear victory for Petrolul is expected, more so since they lost the Romanian SuperCup last week to Steaua and they are looking to put in a good performance to win back their fans. A victory by more than three goals is quite likely so I think the odds are good for the -2.5 AH option.

  • The prediction was correct, Petrolul won 3-0 and could have scored at least five more.

  • Event: Dustin Brown vs Victor Hanescu, ATP Gstaad

Bet: Hanescu -3.5 games Asian Handicap

    Odds: 1.98

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.84

Dustin Brown had a great run at Wimbledon but playing on clay is a totally different story for him, the slower surface doesn't suit his style at all. On the other hand Hanescu has great memories from Gstaad, he won this tournament a few years ago, and he seems to be in good shape on clay after reaching the semi finals in Stuttgart. I expect a fairly clear victory for Hanescu today.

  • The prediction was correct, Hanescu won 7-6 6-2.

  • :)

  • Event: Lyon vs Real Madrid, Soccer Friendly

    Bet: Real Madrid HT/FT

    Odds: 2.50

    Sportsbook: BetVictor

    Stake: 5/10

    Projected profits: 7.50

I know I said I wouldn't be posting predictions about soccer friendlies any more but this one is too big to ignore. Lyon and Real Madrid will play in front of a capacity crowd at Stade Gerland and the two teams will most likely give their best to secure a good result. However, Real Madrid are a lot better than Lyon these days, the French had poor results this summer and the quality of their squad can't be compared with Real Madrid. Should be an entertaining match won by Real Madrid, of course.

  • Wrong, Real Madrid took this lightly and by the time they woke up Lyon were leading 2-0. They did wake up after that and the final score was 2-2...

  • Event: Utrecht vs Differdange, Europa League

    Bet: Utrecht -1 Half Time

    Odds: 1.93

    Sportsbook: 10Bet

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.44

Differdange, an unknown team from Luxembourg, were last week's heroes as they defeated Utrecht 2-1 in the first leg, a huge surprise. But now Utrecht will have to prove themselves in the second leg, on paper the difference between the two teams in enormous and I think that will count on the score board. Utrecht will have to attack right away and I believe they will be leading at half time. The -1 Asian Handicap option will give you your stakes back if they lead by just one goal at half time.

  • Wrong again, it was 1-1 at half time and ended 3-3! Maybe Dutch football isn't what it used to be or maybe... Well, to be honest the result leads me to suspect this match of being fixed. I hope it wasn't the case but it does look extremely weird.

  • Event: Daniel Brands vs Victor Hanescu, ATP Gstaad

    Bet: Brands to win

    Odds: 1.91

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.28

Brands defeated Federer yesterday and played very well too so his confidence must be to the highest possible level. Hanescu had a good tournament as well so far but I doubt he can cope with Brands, he should be fairly content of reaching the quarter finals and I guess he won't fight to the last point today, he rarely does that anyway. Brands is the world number 55, Hanescu is 54, the German will probably be ranked higher than Hanescu next Monday.

  • My fellow Romanian Hanescu produced a nice surprise by defeating Brands in straight sets, I'm half happy :)

  • Brands seems to be one of those players who's inspired when playing top ranked opponents. He had a few good matches this year.

  • Brands seems to be one of those players who's inspired when playing top ranked opponents. He had a few good matches this year.

Yes, he surely has the weapons but sometimes lacks the concentration to win matches against lesser opponents. I guess he'll never be a top 10 player.

  • Event: Radek Stepanek vs Steve Johnson, ATP Washington

    Bet: Stepanek to win

    Odds: 1.73

    Sportsbook: William Hill

    Stake: 10/10

    Projected profits: 7.30

Stepanek hasn't played since Wimbledon, retired due to an injury there, so I guess he's hungry for tennis and for points as well. Johnson lost to Dev Varman last week in a challenger, and in straight sets too, not a result he can be proud of. Stepanek has immense experience and great skills for playing on fast hard courts, the odds are pretty good considering the difference in class between the two players. The only unknown factor is Stepanek's health but I hope he has recovered.

  • The prediction was correct, Stepanek won 7-6 6-3.

  • Event: Dinamo Zagreb vs Sheriff Tiraspol, Champions League qualifying

    Bet: Dinamo Zagreb -1.5

    Odds: 2.33

    Sportsook: Pinnacle Sports

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 9.31

These two teams have met last summer at the exact same phase of the competition and back then Dinamo Zagreb won 4-0 at home and 1-0 away to advance to the play-offs and then reach the group stage. The Croatian champions are in very good shape, won their last four matches and let in just one goal in the process. There is a difference in class between the two teams and I think Dinamo Zagreb will want to make sure of qualifying before the second leg, so I expect a comprehensive victory with at least two goals as the difference.

  • Wrong prediction, Dinamo Zagreb only managed a 1-0 win, scoring the only goal of the match in the 89th minute.

  • Event: Albert Montanes vs Victor Hanescu, ATP Kitzbuhel

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.99

    Sportsook: Pinnacle Sports

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.92

I looked at the statistics of this match and everything shows incredible balance: they have met 10 times before, 5 wins apiece, Montanes is ranked 45th, Hanescu is 46th! Moreover, both players are in very good shape on clay, Montanes reached the quarter finals in Umag last week while Hanescu was in the semi finals in Gstaad. It should be a really close match.

  • The prediction was correct, Montanes won 7-6 3-6 7-6.

  • Event: Albert Montanes vs Dominic Thiem, ATP Kitzbuhel

    Bet: Montanes to win 2-0

    Odds: 1.80

    Sportsook: Titan Bet

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 7.20

I picked Montanes again for a bet after his impressive win yesterday against Hanescu. This time he has a much easier task against young Austrian Dominic Thiem, the youngster is ranked 268th and although he has beaten Melzer and Kuznetsov here I doubt he has a chance against an experienced clay-court player like Montanes. Melzer hadn't played since Wimbledon and had a terrible clay season anyway while Kuznetsov isn't the most reliable of players. Montanes on the other hand is in great shape and I think he will win this one easily.

  • The prediction was correct, Montanes won 6-4 6-3.

  • Event: Marcel Granollers vs Robin Haase, ATP Kitzbuhel

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 1.92

    Sportsook: Pinnacle Sports

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.36

Both have been playing really well this week, head to head statistics show one win apiece but what's most important is that they have met last week in Gstaad and Haase won in three close sets. I expect another close fight between these two good and in-form players.

  • The prediction was correct, Granollers won in three sets: 7-6 3-6 6-4.

  • Event: Bernard Tomic vs Florian Mayer, ATP Montreal

    Bet: Tomic 2-0

    Odds: 2.29

    Sportsook: Bet Victor

    Stake: 6/10

    Projected profits: 7.74

Tomic will play on his favourite surface here while Mayer has a negative record this season on hard courts. Moreover, the only meeting between the two this year was won 2-0 by Tomic on a similar surface in Sydney. Mayer lost his last ATP match in the first round at Umag against Kavcic, that might indicate poor form. Tomic demolished Goffin last week but then was beaten by Del Potro, who eventually won the tournament. I believe Tomic will cruise past Mayer today.

  • Got it all wrong this time, Mayer won in three sets.

  • Event: Bournemouth vs Portsmouth, Capital One Cup

    Bet: Bournemouth -1 Asian Handicap

    Odds: 2.04

    Sportsook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.28

Bournemouth will face Portsmouth in the first round of the League Cup today and the two teams are in totally different moods. Both played in League One last season but the big difference is that Bournemouth got promoted to the Championship while Portsmouth slipped down to League Two. Moreover, Portsmouth started the season with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Oxford. Bournemouth won both matches against Portsmouth last season and I expect them to do the same today.

  • Bournemouth won 1-0, so not exactly a winning bet but if you placed it your stakes should be returned.

  • Event: Vasek Pospisil vs Radek Stepanek, ATP Montreal

    Bet: Pospisil to win

    Odds: 2.59

    Sportsook: Pinnacle Sports

    Stake: 5/10

    Projected profits: 7.95

Pospisil, playing on home soil in Canada, produced a big upset in the previous round as he defeated John Isner. He is in great shape as he is coming from a Challenger tournament win last week in Vancouver. Stepanek on the other hand is one of the most experienced players around, great player with solid skills on hard courts, but I think he will be defeated today. Pospisil is enjoying the best year of his career, he is 23 years old and much more motivated than 34-year old Stepanek.

  • The prediction was correct, Pospisil won 6-2 6-4.

  • Event: Astra (Rou) vs Trencin (Svk), Europa League

    Bet: Astra -1 AH

    Odds: 1.97

    Sportsook: Bet Victor

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: 7.76

The first leg was won by Astra quite comfortably, 3-1, and I noticed a pretty big difference in quality between the two teams while watching the match. I think Astra will win the second leg as well and I think they will do it quite comfortably. There's decent value in the -1 Asian Handicap option, worth a try.

  • Wrong prediction, Astra took things lightly and nearly lost the match. It ended 2-2.

  • Event: Flora vs Levadia, Estonian First League

    Bet: Levadia DNB

    Odds: 2.02

    Sportsook: Paf Sportsbook

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.14

This is a match between two of the best teams in the Estonian soccer top flight, some sort of a derby in the country. Levadia has a good track record against their rivals, won the last five direct meetings, so I guess there is good value in the draw no bet option, with stakes to be returned in case of a draw.

  • The prediction was correct, Levadia won 2-1.

  • Event: Janko Tipsarevic vs Sam Querrey, ATP Cincinnati

    Bet: Over 23.5 games

    Odds: 2.13

    Sportsook: Pinnacle Sports

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.91

Both are good players but both are struggling lately. Both Tipsarevic and Querrey are coming from extremely poor results, with just one win in the last five matches. Considering those facts I think both players will be determined to turn things around and since there isn't a big difference in class between the two either, I expect a close match. Last time they met was at Roland Garros last year, Tipsarevic won in four sets but Querrey leads the head-to-head record 3-2.

  • The prediction was correct, Tipsarevic won in three sets: 6-7 6-3 6-4.

  • Event: Kevin Anderson vs Tommy Haas, ATP Cincinnati

    Bet: Over 23.5 games

    Odds: 2.04

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle Sports

    Stake: 7/10

    Projected profits: 7.28

This should be the best match of the day in Cincinnati, a really balanced one between two very good players. Both are coming from disappointing results last week in Montreal so they will be determined to make amends. Anderson is the slight favourite in my view but I don't think he will ever manage to beat Haas easily. In fact, the only previous meeting between the two was won by Anderson in three sets.

  • Wrong prediction, Haas won 6-4 6-4.
