Stage 12 from Pau to Peyragoudes should bring another battle between the general classification contenders, while the stage win could go to a breakaway rider because Team Sky might not be interested in spending a lot of energy to keep the race under control until the final three climbs.

The stage features six categorized climbs, four of them in succession in the final 90km of the stage.

Team Sky seemed to have everything under control, they kept a very high tempo on the climbs and nobody was able to attack. Moreover, Quintana, Contador and Barguil got dropped and ended up losing more than two minutes. But, with just 400 meters left, the 16% incline proved too much for Chris Froome as Aru, Bardet and Uran attacked and Froomey ended up losing the yellow jersey to Aru! Bardet won the stage and also quite a bit of time on Froome.

Quite strange to see Landa sprint and get 15 seconds on Froome instead of staying behind to help his captain...

Yeah I think he would have a few problems from the team managers because of that, to say the least it's unprofessional and egoistic but to be honest I'm not surprised, that could it be expected from Landa I think but probably he doesn't care too much - he will be a Moviestar rider next season...I'm not saying he would of save too much time to Froome anyway but surely it is your duty to support the leader in this situation...

I thought Froome it's not in a great shape, it was obvious, and I thought Aru is looking very fresh and they all made a mistake(especially Froome) when they leaved his attack without any response in one of the early stages when Aru make up around 20 sec.

But who's the favourite now? Beside Aru, Bardet also looking quite dangerous but Froome still has the strongest team( with or without Landa) and there's still one more time trial stage in which he could make up some time, but is it  really Uran in the mix for the end victory? It would it sound like a joke if someone told me that before the tour,so...? ???

About the race, I think Froome is still the favourite because of two things: the incredible strength of his team and next week's time-trial stage.

Between Bardet, Aru and Uran I think that Uran has the best shot because in theory he is a better time-trial rider than the other two. But it's pretty much wide open at the moment, any of these four riders could win the Tour.

Stage 13 will be a tricky one because it's short and difficult. The stage is just 101 km long but it's all up and down, with three first-category climbs and the following descents. I think Romain Bardet has a good chance to win again as he could use his skills to attack on the final descent.

Actually, after re-watching the stage finale I think that Landa did the right thing and probably what the team wanted him to do. He still had some energy so he went up there to try and take the stage win or at least one of the top three places in order to deny Froome's rivals the time bonuses (10 seconds for first, 6 for second, 4 for third).

I saw that after the stage Sky Sports Director Nicolas Portal had a few harsh words (at least from the body language, no sound of course) for Landa and the Spanniard looked anything but happy after that, almost grumpy so that's why I think it wasn't team order that, not saying it was a wrong move, just it wasn't according the orders probably.

Intense stage today and a fine win for Warren Barguil, a special one for a Frenchman on July 14th. Quintana and Contador went along in the breakaway and cut a bit of their deficit in the general classification. As for Mikel Landa, it seems he's doing his own thing despite being part of Team Sky. Or maybe it's a team tactic, we'll know more in the coming days.

Fabio Aru remains in the lead, he did an awesome job today to reply to Foome's attacks despite being all alone without team-mates for almost the whole stage.

Saturday's stage 14 from Blagnac to Rodez will be a tricky one as it features several small climbs (just two categorized) in the second half of the 181.5 km route. Superb solo victory for Bauke Mollema, he left his breakaway companions 28 kilometers before the finish and he never looked back. Chris Froome had a bad moment on the last first-category climb, he had a puncture right when Ag2r were riding hard at the front of the group but the yellow jersey managed to get back into the bunch after losing around 40 seconds. Quintana dropped out of the top ten in the overall classification, he's in pretty bad shape.

I liked Dan Martin's effort not only today but in the previous tough stages also, I think if there wasn't that really unlucky Porte crash in which Martin was involved also without any fault really he would it be a top 3 or maybe even the man in yellow right now...good form and great effort by him.

Yeah, he was really unlucky there, should have been a lot higher in the classification. He is in great shape, Froome and the others have to keep an eye on him.

Tuesday's stage 16 is, at least in theory, one for the sprinters as it has just two fairly small categorized climbs and both are in the first part of the stage. Great work from Team Sunweb today, they dropped Kittel and some other sprinters on the first climb of the day and then pulled like crazy to make sure the green jersey never got back in the main bunch. Michael Matthews finished that great work with a sprint victory, his second of this year's tour, and he got a lot closer to the green jersey. The final 20 kilometers had some very strong wind and Daniel Martin, Louis Meintjes and Alberto Contador, among others, got caught out.

Superb victory for Primoz Roglic, his first ever at the Tour de France but probably not the last because this guy has got amazing potential. Alberto Contador tried an attack from a long way out but got caught right before the summit of the Galibier, while Fabio Aru got dropped on that climb and ended up losing 31 seconds and his place on the podium. Among the contenders for the yellow jersey, only Bardet tried a few attacks but in the end the top three were happy to gain some time on Aru for now. Both Bardet and Uran will have to attack Froome tomorrow, otherwise it's all done.

Oh, and Michael Matthews has finally taken the green jersey because Marcel Kittel had to pull out of the race after a crash.

Primoz Roglic showed great potential not only in the time trials but in the climbings too so I guess we could see him in some of the top teams in year or two...Contador was the favourite to win the stage in that breakaway group but he wasn't even close to the ex ski jumper who showed really great talent there.

And yes really bad luck for Kittel to fall in the beginning of a stage like this, would it be tough for him to finish the stage on time anyway and the green jersey battle was one of the thrillers to the this years tour but it's over now, deserved win for Mathews though, Sunweb worked hard for that.

Stage 18 is the last mountain stage of this year's Tour and it's the final chance for Bardet, Uran and Aru to gain some time on Froome ahead of Saturday's time trial. I think Froome is able to gain around a minute on either of the three rivals in the time trial, so they will have to attack as early as possible on the final climb, the Col d'Izoard. But who knows, we might see attacks on Col de Vars and on the following descent as well.

Nothing deciding at the tour today so it's pretty much on Froome to loose it now, only mechanical problem or some kind of a crash could stop him winning the race I could imagine.

Barguil should be considered as  the future Tour de France winners I guess, he was very  impressive this year...

I agree 100%, Froomey has been dominant and normally he can't lose now. As for Barguil, he surely has the quality to make a difference in mountain stages, but he needs a lot more to challenge for a Grand Tour.

Great victory for Barguil, he surely deserves the polka dot jersey. As for the general classification, Froome continues to dominate while Bardet nicked a few seconds off Uran. Aru kept sinking and he had to do some damage limitation in order to remain in the top five.

Yeah maybe a surprise winner in the last stage but I think Groenewegen was right there between the first in some of the stages and maybe not so surprising after all...especially when Kittel, Sagan and Demare are away while Greipel and Kristoff's form is just ridiculously poor...

In the end Froome won but quite tough this time so it would be certainly interesting if he could continue to dominate next year..as far as I know Landa would leave the Sky so one more contender for the future maybe...I wonder who will be a Sky backup leader for the next season as Thomas might leave too...La Vuelta promising to be huge this year and I can't wait for it...Contador was the latest to confirm his participation there too.

Yes I also think he has the qualities to be a team leader but there's just no room for him in this role at Sky right now, someone would say its a mistake from Team Sky leaving him go but I think it's just the way it should be despite that Landa has a great potential and probably would be multiple Grand slam winner or at least contender in future.
