Basketball - Euroleague 2015-2016

Red Star won back in Athens with 11 points difference, so I suppose similar result will be in Belgrade too. Even if they lose with less than 11 points difference, they have an advantage on them. Same case with Efes.

They are in a pretty good position, they shouldn't gamble away with this opportunity.

I don't think we should look so much at Pao as referencing point. We should look at what are Efes and Darusafaka doing. Pao is going to TOP8, won over Fener at home last game, showing so much improvement during last 20 days. Also won in Malaga and against Efes. 5 wins in a row. In my opinion they are going almost certainly to top 8 round. We could maybe grab 3. position in group if we win against them but priority is to secure top 8 spot and win ABA league. It is likely that only ABA league champion is going to Euroleague next season so that competition is competition of highest priority for Zvezda. ABA league semifinal series against Cedevita are going to be played between games in Krasnodar and Malaga, so our focus isn't going to be completely at Euroleague. Therefore it is more important to keep distance away from Efes and Darussafaka, secure top 8 spot and waste energy smartly. Too much trying to catch Pao at third position can be costly to our ABA league ambitions. It is really hard task in front of Dejan Radonić but I am sure that he and his boys are going to make happy a large number of Zvezda fans.

Edit: We also have 2 wins more and won against Efes more than we lost in Istanbul but Efes is not leaving Istanbul till the end of top 16 phase (playing "away" to Fener and Darusafaka). Darusafaka is going to lose in Belgrade, i'm almost certain in that scenario.

PAO is now a completely different team, I believe they are coming to Belgrade motivated after winning the Greek Cup.

It will be a tough game, I don't believe that the Red Star can easy win like in Athens.

Yes, they are better team now than month ago but in front of 20 000 crazy fans, even GSW can't be sure that they are going to win. Pao brough ex NBA player Elliot Williams and he showed in past few games that he is very good player. They won Greek cup against club from second division, so that isn't that important for their confidence. Zvezda lost at home this year only against Fener twice, all other games were won pretty comfortably, Pao should fall!

I think Djordjevic will come up with some good tactics, he knows some of the Red Star players pretty good.

It isn't going to be an easy match, that's for sure. PAO will face with some serious pressure by Red Star's fans. It's not easy to deal with 20.000 howling people. That's Red Star's main advantage.

Very important , and not easy match against PAO. PAO has brought some good players, Pao is  in good shape ... The Red Star also plays well. If we consider the 20k fans and that this match can decide the top8 for Red Star. The Red Star is definitely my favorite.

If Radonjic learns when is the right time to ask for a timeout, I expect a win :D

I watched the match Loko - Fener,and i am very disappointed with the game and a small number of points.

Finally Unicaja Malaga to win someone.

Bogdan Bogdanovic had great game in Fenerbahce win in Krasnodar (17p, 6reb, 3as). Unicaja won easily in Zagreb with 6 players in double digits. Bourousis led Baskonia in important win against Khimki with 16p, 13 reb and 6 as. Big three by Janis Strelnieks put Oly in very difficult position. CSKA, Fener and Loko kuban are almost sure in top 8. Others? We'll see  ;)

Great night tonight. Barcelona and Anadolu Efes need a victory to continue the race for top8. CSKA need to win for 1st place in group, Real Madrid with win almost secured 3rd place in group. And the best game tonight, Red Star - Panathinaikos , I expect a great game, both teams need a victory , for top8 , and for 3rd place in group.

I think there is no chance for Barca against CSKA.

Maybe Darusafaka can win Efes, Jon Diebler from Efes is injury.

Great game for Red Star! They are now 3rd in the standings, and almost surely going in TOP8.

Also a great result for Barcelona, they have increased their chances of going through in TOP8.They are now 5th in the standings.

Great result for Zvezda. Very bad first half, scored only 28 points. Third quarter was absolutely fantastic. Kinsey took matters into his hands and led Zvezda to 11 points difference before last 10 minutes. Than, Elliott Williams show. Scored absolutely everything and Pao came back into the game. Maybe the key move was made by Radonjić when he brought Dangubić to guard Williams. Danga is much taller and player with good lateral movement and he slowed Williams down. Also scored key free throws in final minute.

Watched only overtime in Barcelona. Hosts managed to win in almost unbelievable way. Doelman scored three pointer to tie the game. Than stole the ball and scored 2 point jumper. That all happened in last 5 seconds of overtime. Crazy.

Home court rules ;) Today every home team won :)

Maybe the best performer tonight was Wanamaker from Brose Bamberg. Scored 25 points against Khimki. They are in we tough situation. Trailing 1 win to top8 spot and also playing against Real in Madrid. Barca from zero to hero, after few bad loses against Zalgiris and Brose, they managed to win against CSKA, Zalgiris at home, Real and Oly, only losing to Khimki by 14 but defended +18 from match at home. Very interesting group. Only CSKA and Baskonia seem to be sure for top 8 spot. 

PAO was the one that surprised me the most. Great comeback at the end. Interesting thing in this group is that three teams are fighting for second place, but on the other hand, one of them might fall out from further competition :)

I somehow knew they are going to win in the end, can't explain why :D

Kuban beated them three times in a row, to win fourth time, it would be a little too much :D

He had some problems but Radonjić said that he is ready to go. Kinsey's pull-up jumper is one of the best in Euroleague, adds strong weapon to Zvezda's offence also good perimeter defender. He was in NBA for a reason.

Red star did a great job by hiring Kinsey, excellent 2pt shooter. I'm betting on Zirbes and Kinsey tonight,and also on Red Star :)

When I remember we traded Ryan Thompson for him, what a piece of bussines! In the meantime Trabzonspor got rid of Thompson. I don't know what happened to him, from 40%+ 3pt shooter to someone not good for Trabzon.. ???

In Eurocup Merkel was one of the main players in Maccabi. I watched a few games where he gave about 20 points. I would say that he didn't  found himself at Red Star.

What an astonishing comeback from Red Star, phenomenal game. Simonovic decided the match with four 3pt baskets in the 4th quarter. We are practically in the TOP8 :D

Great game in Malaga. Poor first half for RedStar. In the second half, a great defense, from a good defense and a good attack followed, which made the reversal. And what is most surprising is that the players from the bench led the club to victory.  :)

We have good chance of finishing 3rd, even 2nd in this group. 2-0 against Pao, defending +14 against Lokomotiv. Pao has to play away to Darussafaka and Efes, will win surely against Cedevita at home. Should lose at least one game in Turkey That is 9-5.

Zvezda: Kuban away (certainly loss, will be played 48 hours after game against Cedevita in Zagreb in tuesday.), Darussafaka at home ( we should win) and Cedevita away (Cedevita is already out so we could win). Let's say we will have 9-5 at the end of this phase.

Kuban: easiest schedule. CZ at home ( Win), Unicaja home (Win) and Darussafaka (hoping they could lose) but likely 3-0 and 10-4 at the end. If all teams finish on score 9-5 CZ has to lose less than 14 pts difference in Kuban to clinch 2nd spot that would give us home court advantage and everybody knows what kind of home court is Pionir hall.

However fantastic achievement by Zvezda, we are going 99% into top 8 teams of Euroleague. Sooo proud of my team!

As the Red Star fan i'd more like to win Laboral Kutxa. I think for Red Star, Laboral Kutxa is much easier opponent than Real Madrid. Barcelona miss a couple of players tonight, I think Laboral has a good chance to keep the 2nd place.

Me too. In last few years we played 4 times vs Baskonia and won all of them + would like to see Jaka Blažič back at Pionir Hall and get ovations he deserves.

I think that the players of Crvena Zvezda are tired. There is a long way to Krasnodar.

Zagreb, Belgrade, Moscow then Krasnodar. They will not have training before match.

Pao is a better team then Darussafaka. It is my opinion.

We will almost certainly lose, but as long as match is not finished (in this case has not even started) there is chance that we will win this. These guy are amazing, if they lose today by 50 I won't say anything. I know everything, we travelled before Zagreb also to Malaga. 10 000 km in 10 days.

Darussafaka can be dangerous at home court, I hope they can surprise.

As i said, easy win for Loko.. Unfortunately, the players were tired. It was obvious that they were not ready so physically, Loko had a lot of free throws.

Brose Basket was again surprised at home, they beat CSKA.

As expected bad game by Zvezda. Loko shot the ball well, good performance. Guys will rest for next 7 days and get ready to crush Darusafaka to clinch top 8 spot.

Too bad Darusafaka couldn't win this one. Elliot Williams killed them. In last minute of the match he scored game-tying three pointer, after Wilbekin missed two-pointer he rebounded and drawn foul, scored both free throws. Finished game with 19 points.
