  • When I see two players from the same country playing at a table be it 6 seater or 9 seater, I always get suspicious.

I just played a game and there were 2 players from Poland and 2 from Russia.  If a "search player" facility is available, I always use it to find out if these same country players are playing at other tables.

No problem with the Russians but when I searched the Polish players, I see that they are both playing at another table so I loaded up the other table to watch them.

This is what I saw (at both tables):

They never played a hand together

One player (the same player each time) always raised the other player when they were SB and BB

The player at BB always folded.

There was a long enough gap between from when it was their turn to play and them actually making their decision to call, raise or fold to discuss who had what.

The raised player at BB kept raising weak players to steal their blinds and ultimately pass the chips on to the other player

Am I being overly suspicious or do you think there are grounds for a complaint to the site?

  • I have to admit that it looks suspicious and you have a point. Unfortunately, I haven't played much lately but when was just starting I wasn't really paying attention to other players which was a mistake. I think I would also suspect that they are playing together because who knows how often that actually happens.

  • tbh honest i have seen this a lot of times while playing, i play a lot of 4 seater double ups and have seen this type of play at them so that both of them win.  I have even said it in the chat that i would report them and suddenly their style of play changed.  It is extremely frustrating and wrong to do this but im not sure if anything would be done by reporting them as i have never tried.

  • Sadly its very common especially in the double ups. But thankfully, most poker rooms are good at finding this stuff. If ever in doubt just shoot them an email and they will usually look into it

  • I agree blue.  I think there is cheating going on in poker.  That's why I will not deposit  to any poker site.  I just play freerolls.  Too bad that it is happening and I imagine it is hard to spot unless someone reports them.

  • I guess you should report them, it looks suspicious enough for a further investigation.

  • Thanks for all the great replies; much appreciated.

  • This definitely goes on and i have seen it happen sooo many times. The only way to prevent it is not allowing players to choose their own tables to play at. Another words they would be allowed to choose type of game and buy-in amount and randomly be placed at a table. Some players would have to wait for Sit n Goes to open up even though there are seats open, but would prevent players from teaming up.

But i am going to play devils advocate for a moment here. Lets be absolutely honest. If you are playing Poker and your sister, brother, friend, spouse etc decides to play with you can you TRUTHFULLY say you would not be tempted at moments not to go up against them and knock them out?

I have played with friends and family members and there has been times we have had the competitive attitude with a philosophy of "may the best man win". But i admit there has been times i haven't knocked out my mom, sis or friend when given the opportunity. Its a tough thing to do sometimes.

Of course i could say i don't want to play at your table but isn't that part of the fun playing with someone you know? I have been in those compromising positions and not always but i know there were times i should of been long gone and I've gotten a little help.

Does it make any of us a bad person? I don't think so, instead  i think its human nature. But at the end of the day do i think there should be some measures to prevent this from happening at Poker sites.........absolutely. And it's an easy fix if they placed players randomly at tables.

  • That's a perfect solution Lips and great thinking.

I agree with you; it is too easy to be tempted to play differently to how you would normally because your opponents are friends/family.

  • i've been playing at unibet the last couple of days and im enjoying it as it just seats u at the next available table u dont get to pick one so there is less chance of that sort of thing happening

Is that only ring games though xbornluckyx?  It is a good system though.

  • ring games , sit n go or tounrys i suppose with the sit n go's  u would have buy in at the    very  same minute  which of course is possibel but u dont see  table number u just buy in and ur seated at the moment i am playing off the welcome ticket 750 flops to turn into cash am down to 300 in a day n half of 2c blinds and i am up on my money aint  bad for free have also had a few freebie tourny tics just for playing :)

  • this is for me a good thing two know and watch for

    thanks

maybe i win ones now  lol

  • I was playing in the DoNs (double or nothing sit and gos) on pokerstars a few years back and they

eventually scrapped them on pokerstars and replaced them with 50/50  sngs. Anyway i was sure

there were 2 players colluding at the table and reported it via e-mail to pokerstars. They

investigated and a couple of weeks later i got a reply saying i was indeed collude against and both players

were banned and pokerstars put $50 in to my account . i was happy :)

  • Nice result carlito.  It wasn't those Chinese players back in 2010 was it?

This is why PokerStars is one of the best gaming sites in the business today :-bd
