ReadHave to brag...if even just a little !! :-[ I won a Ladies only $250 guarantee on Feltstars....woohoo :-bd.It's the first only ladies that I ever entered so I thought :-bd. Anywaysssssssss...I just had to share.I didn't get a screenie but my player name has something to do with flowers.... LOL and poker!! 8) :-X LOL :-*
Thanks blue !! There were only 45 players,I'm not sure if it was because it cost $2.20 to by in or because only females. :) We played for almost 3 hrs and at first everyone was pretty careful..not any big plays but when we were down to 5 players...which were for the money,it went down to 2 of us in about 30 minutes. WE are down to 2 players and had around 45,000 chips apiece and we went back and forth for 10 minutes and I went all-in with 6's and won the tourney for $80.WooHoo !! :-bd Not bad for 3 hours of work !! ;) :)That is fantastic Rosebud. Big congrats and thank you for sharing.
What was your prize? How many entered and how long did it take you to whoop everyone's butt?
blue
Ok, I gotta brag just a little bit... This was only my 2nd time ever playing poker online with other people and I actually finished in the money... :-S It was the El Dorado Palace Daily Freeroll and I only won $6 by placing in 4th place out of 40 players... but, my first try I was so nervous I didn't make it thru 5 hands and then I waited over a month to try it again... $$ so here is todays "in the money" screenshot woo
Thank you so much blue... it felt really good... chuffed, yeah! Never ran into anyone else that uses that word other than me... 8)
I forgot to say the game was Omaha and I really never played that before, but I read the rules in the 15 minutes between registering and the start of the game... 8'|
Maybe I should do an Omaha thread on the rules :-[ (if I've not already done one).
You know Katt - I wondered whether you would get the "chuffed" bit; I thought it might be a bit too English. Glad you use it too ;)
I'm looking forward to hearing some more super wins from you.
blue
So, as you probably know I have just started learning online poker this month... and if ya didn't know you do now... I had to come and brag because this can only happen one time for the first time... the pictures tell the tale:
I am quite chuffed with myself at the moment! Newbie Pride! I won..... I won...... IwonIwonIwon - doin' the happy dance! woo 8p Ok now I can go back to my usual calm cool and collected, not to mention demure self...... NOT!
katt
Thank you, thank you, thank you blue... give yourself a pat on the back too... you have inspired and encouraged me to get out there and give this a try... ! I was so scared to get out there and try this with other people... can't tell from this forum but I am extremely shy!
Today I was chatting with other players as well as playing... really mixed feelings about the chat aspect though... have had a lot of middle european players who speak their language to each other and when they spoke to me it was to call me an idiot...(seems I am doing ok for an idiot though) :-bd m=Must have been middle of the night there during the game I won cause they weren't there and it was pleasant to chat and play!
katt
Thank you Katt for your kind words.
Some players will use chat to catch you off guard or influence your play. I tend to hide the chat most of the time. Watch those people with their non-English chat - they don't stick to the rules and you have the right to say "English only" in the chat. Most of them will apologise and stick to English afterwards. If it is in the rules of the poker room, then you have the right to report them. They could be discussing hands, tactics or anything to put another player at a disadvantage.
blue
thanks blue! I have thought about it, as these same players are always there and do this all the time... one player did say "english only:" and the guy cussed him. Same guy who calls me an idiot... I have been making notes of the players that keep doing this and it is indeed in the rules to use english only... if it continues I think I will say something to management as it makes the game unpleasant at the very least. Of course I am getting the opportunity to add to the already large number of languages I can cuss in! LOL
katt
Regarding non English conversations, try and copy the text and paste it into Google Translate (auto detect > English). I've done this on many occasions and pasted the results in the chat and told the entire table that they are cheating and this is what was said just now.
It really is out of order.
blue
I tried to copy some of their comments from the chat box, but it would not let me do that.... I did grab some screenshots of the chat and tried getting a translation, but could not get anything coherent from that, just a word or two of most of the sentences, so I think it is too much slang they use when they do this, but I ain't givin' up on trying.
katt
Thank you Medtrans.... why don't you start again by joining us for the LCB Exclusive Tournament on the 23rd at AdamevePoker? We have 10 or 11 people now I think, but more would be merrier! It'd be great to see you there!

I would love to but I work every Sunday. And when I was playing a lot of poker online I found that most of the good tourneys were played on Sundays too.
Which sites do you play at and have you withdrawn yet? I am thinking of going back to poker since I didn't spend as much money at that.
Thanks,
medtrans

Awww shucks... Too bad you have to work on Sundays... but the good thing is you have a job...
As far as what sites and withdrawing, I am a 100% newbie and have not played enough to advise, but I am following blueday's new thread, online poker training, and have been checking out the USA friendly casinos there.
The win I had was at El Dorado Palace, but I am just learning on their freerools, they don't have much action anywhere else, but the tourneys are only 40 seats... have to be there and quick on the draw to get in... they fill up in less than a minute usually.
I have tried bodog and Betonline, but only one tourney so can't say much about them. I understand that Cake Poker is a good one, but have not tried it. And Doyle'sRoom has sold to America's Cardroom and they have a very good rep in the poker world from what I understand.
Cheaper for sure, especially since I am playing all freerolls thus far. LOL
Hope to see you at the tables!

Hi gals and guys,
after coming 8th couple of times, and fair bit of top 40 placements, i finally managed to win one PL Holdem Tournament at Poker Stars .
Buy in was only $1.1 , hence the prize pool wasnt the greatest, but i still made some nice profit of $330. Not bad on one dollar investment right ;)
There was total of 537 entrants and tourney lasted for almost 7 hours being that it was a PL game.
Feel free to share your poker success ;)
Way to go Zuga!
I started playing poker a few weeks ago just for something to pass the time. I signed up again at sportsbook.com. I played there a few years ago and then quit playing poker.
Tonight I played in Dollar Frenzy Turbo $3000 guaranteed. $1.00 unlimited rebuys for first 90 minutes and 30k chips addon at the first break. There were 647 players. I spent $2.10 in the first 90 minutes and then another $1.00 at the break. So total spent was $3.10.
Low and behold I won the tourney. $600.00! (I took a screen shot but couldn't figure out how to post it from my new computer. It's on the desktop but can't get it to move to this post)
I requested a withdrawal for $550. They say it can take 6-8 weeks for a check or bank withdrawal. ugh. Live chat said that is the worst case scenario. We shall see.

Wowie Zowie Medtrans! What a blast! :z You're in the money, your in the money $$ This is becoming quite the little poker playing conclave around here and we got WINNERS! Great job and many congratulations!
I have a little brag of my own tonight and even though it pales in comparison with your feat medtrans I will share it anyway.... I have now been playing poker for maybe a month or so, learning loads from blueday and pretty much over my shyness to play at a table with other people... I play to practice at a site that is not an actual casino, is completely legal in the US and you can win real money. I won't say what site, in case I shouldn't, but this is what happened tonight. And a really good part of it was I misunderstood and thought only the top 3 finishers got a seat and it was actually the top 5!!!
Dear KattAstrophy,
Congratulations! You've won a seat in the $500 Weekly Final scheduled for this Saturday, 11/5/11 at 8:15 pm (Eastern).

To play, simply log in to XXXXXXXX before 8:15 pm (Eastern) on Saturday, 11/5/11 and you will be automatically seated when the Final begins.
Have fun and best of luck!
OK. Here is the screenshot. That's me....summersales.
Congrats Katt! You are doing awesome for playing just a month.
Since I started playing poker again I am trying to be very patient and wait for the good hands to play. Patience, patience, patience. At one point I was down to 900 or so chips and I thought "Oh well." I ended up with around 12 million chips in the end (I think.) Blinds and antes at that level are unbelievable. (Never got up that high before.) I was blown away.
Blue, tourney lasted about 3 1/2 hours. Was a no limit holdem.
I like playing omaha hi/lo too. They are fun.
Thanks all for your posts. I couldn't believe I won. I was only hoping to cash in the tourney which paid 72 places. Lowest paid was $7.50.
medtrans
WTG medtrans :)
I played few more tourneys, some I lost and at some made to the money ( nothing worth mentioning ).
I also played one $33 buy in today and made to the final table. Sadly i finished 9th, which made me $200 ( minus buy in and add on ). The first prize was over $1.8K so im kinda disappointed with my result.
Yes. Whenever you can cash in a tourney it is a big plus because it is very hard to do. I often wonder how the same people are always at the final table in WSP and other big tourneys. But lately I am noticing some new faces too.
I still believe a lot is luck and luck must be on your side, but then again...a lot of the same people are always there.
Would appreciate comments on how much you think luck figures in.
medtrans
I would have to say that skill is the main factor when playing poker , however even the Pros need some luck.
Ive seen many times you play your hand by textbook, do everything right and then lose on the river to a badbeat.
these things happen, but if you stick to your game and keep on improving your play you are bound to get some good results.
I know my play has improved significantly, so officially Im no longer a fish/donk :P
I like to think I "know" how to play. I will admit I don't figure out the outs and really know nothing about pot odds which I know a person must study in order to be really good. So guess I am a donk.
But I have been doing much better lately with my patience for waiting for a decent hand and working on my betting strategy. I cashed in a couple sit n go's since I started back and that has helped improve my game.
I would rather play slots, but poker is OK too.
medtrans

LOL LOL That made me laugh.
Medtrans,
There is clearly a lot of skill in poker but then there is always going to be that element of luck.
I've played in an 8000 player tourney and made it to the final table and just played 17 hands. I have no doubt in mind that some of the other final tablers had played maybe 100 or more hands because that is how they play. That doesn't make them a bad player as such it just makes them a different player. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are different skills that can be used in poker and not everyone uses all of those skills all the time and there always has to be just that bit of luck. Example would be you have KK and your opponent has AA and you hit your K on the flop and crack the aces. Thats luck but is it unskillful that the Aces got beat?
Skill has to win the majorty of the time. As for the new faces at WSOP, that's online players for ya and that is a totally different ballgame for the pros.
I could go on but I'd bore me to death.
blue
When I read your posts, you are so right blue and zuga. So many things to consider in poker and it is a lot of skill.
I'll keep plugging away at it.
medtrans
Thanks Medtrans.
I know you gave it up for a long time and I think if you can stay in the frame of mind you are in, you will do well.
Keep those wins coming.
blue
Hey Zuga, congratulations again! Making it to the final table at any time is a win in my mind... of course I am so much of a fish you ought to be thinking of sushi right now!
I have watched those "lucky" players drop like rocks at the tables lately and have adopted (as best I can) a wait for the good hands method that seems to be what gets me to those final tables. I sit back, wait for the right hands to play and let the big shots shoot each other right out of the game.
Oh and yes there is always that Bad Beat... if I understand what that is... yesterday I started with AA and ended up with a full house... Fives full of Aces... my opponent ended with 4 of a kind with his 5 in the hole. Got caught with my All-In pants down...
