VIP Status Oddness

So it's that time of the year for quite a few casinos to review who gets what tier in their casino.

Well I only really play at 2 casinos frequent enough to get any offers from them.

Yet here's the kicker.

So I don't consider myself a high roller, really I don't.  On average I go to a casino about 1 to 2 times a month.  Bring about $200 to $500 with me varying on how rich I feel that time of the year.  Yes I do tend to bet a bit when I'm up.  Like instead of betting $1/spin, I might bet like max bet $2.50 to $4.00 a spin.  Just to see if I can get further ahead.

Yet somehow I've scored top tier membership at both casinos I frequent.  Jumers in Rock Island, has me pegged as a Diamond member for the second year in a row.  Then somehow I"m Platinum Elite at Mystic Lake.

While I"m not complaining about getting front of the line perks for the hotel desk, steak house, buffet, and all.  I'm really starting to wonder how they base there criteria on who scores what level of membership.  Plus I've always been one of those people who like to blend into the casino.  Not have a casino employee announce every few minutes, oh we have a Diamond VIP player here.  That's just not my style.

So I'm just curious how desperate these casinos are for getting people in the door.  If there handing out top tier memberships to those I feel really don't deserve it really.  I like being perked, but really makes me look like I spend way too much money at these casinos by getting the perk I have.  Really honestly I'm happy with middle of the tier membership.  Just enough to say I'm noticed by the casino for my play, but not so noticed that I have the staff flaunting over me.

Has anyone else had this happen to them, and felt the same way?  Maybe I'm just an odd duck when it comes to gambling.

I too have often wondered how players move up the membership tier. Although there is pamphlets at the Rewards Center outlining the criteria to move up, i certainly didn't feel like a met them when i was pushed up the next level.

What happened was i had hit a decent Jackpot around $2k and when the slot attendant came over to pay me she said "oh by the way you have moved up in status and here is your new card". I was sooo perplexed by that considering i had only played at this Casino a handful of times and i didn't fit the requirements at all to get the new card.

I think what some of these Casinos don't tell you is if you hit a few jackpots or a pretty decent one they move you up right away.........after all they want that money back right?
