  • No, he knew what he was walking into and was prepared.
    50.00% (9)

  • I've never had faith in Obama.

I don't want to live in a Socialistic society.  I don't want the Government to have it's hands in EVERYTHING.

Could say much more but will refrain.

  • I didn't answer your question, Lips.

Do I think the stress has taken it's toll?  Yes, of course.  Being President is the most stressful job I imagine.

Do I think he would run again had he forseen the present?  YES!  I think his ego is too big not to want to be President.

I've always thought I need to respect the President because of the position and he is my Leader and Chief.  I just can't get on board with him.

Don't want to offend anyone... just my thoughts.

  • I hope he certainly has not lost faith in US as americans, hopefully he understands that WE are working just as hard as he is.

He did say it was going to take some time, it cannot be done overnight, it is not just ONE thing he is facing.. he is facing a whole country with millions of different kinds of people, with different forms and ideas of freedom and religious values.

I wonder how many people go with the flow..

I think that though he is the President, and is in his power, that he hurts and feels just like us.
I think if he could change things NOW he would and make us happy.. he faces the impossible.

I realize things can't be done overnight but it's been more than overnight.

I thought one of his first priorities was to get the troops out of Iraq ASAP, they are still there and more have/are being deployed to Afghanistan.

My nephew was just deployed to Lybia and another to Afghanistan.  Thanks, Obama, for keeping that promise.

  • Obama is not the one that got us in this mess....remember!!!

    He's not?  Hmmmm.

Some have very eloquently posted statistical facts of the mess Obama has made in 18 months of service.

    Obama... NOT Bush.

  • Let us ask everyone... If YOU were president RIGHT NOW, what would you do..?

I wouldn't run for President if I were not qualified.  I sure as hell would not make promises I had no plan on keeping.
  • Mike, I'm going to copy your post to my dad.  My dad sent this to me.

  • Max your written word belongs on the front page of every newspaper across America. You should seriously submit it. Excellent reading!

Here is where i stand at a crossroads. I guess the real issue is not Obama at all. I am not a die hard Obama groupie who has blinders on. What i really want to ask is, truly someone answer this question with all honesty....

With such turmoil our country is left in, is there really a man.....a single man who could put a quick fix on our current affairs happening in our country now? Does he exist, or is it a fallacy to even think it possible?

I may seem defensive in regards to our current leader in power. But in reality i think what i am defending here is the impossible dream is possible. Maybe i am a dreamer........i want to believe in every lyric in "Imagine". My dream is not to give up on us........not to give up on America. Get back our pride without casting stones and find resolutions. We have been ridiculed and chastised by so many other countries as it is.

I am hoping we find our way back home.........and we do it together. United we stand.....divided we fall.

    Lips

I appreciate your optimisim and positive outlook.  The only way I can get that back is with Obama out of office.  He wants a socialistic society and that scares the hell out of me.

Do I think one person could change everything that is wrong in the US?  No, but I don't think it's right to stand on a platform, kiss babies and make promises you know you can't keep. Not  one. sad

The value of my home dropped $318,000 since he took office.  I own a business having to do with healthcare.  He will ruin me, my doctors and my health if his HealthCare reform goes through.

I'm passionate about this because I have worked hard my entire life (as have most people) to provide a safe and secure environment for my family.  I don't feel safe and secure and right now, there is nothing I can do about it but sit back and hope and pray someone wakes up and does the right thing in regards to this country.
  • it always amazes me that the head of the adminstrative branch is seen with more power than he may have in all cases other than in a state of war, i mean do people not realize the reasoning here attributing a president as much as a king with ultimate control over the entire government, we as americans need to get more local and down to our local roots more so i do think.. i personally am not political any longer because i feel it has spun out of control and will be further corrupted in trying to get it altogether , also i was a sign in to the Republican party from many years ago and have opted out not feeling connected at all with these newer party members gaining power, do i not have a voice because i will not vote for any party running any longer ? the answer is no , i still have a measure of voice comparative to my taxes paid.. don't be intimidated by the electorals that if you do not vote you do not have a voice taxes are your representation.. we actually can abstain these people out of office here , and end the "politic" which i might add has become a way of life thta much people have forgotten it's roots of the arguement do we live in a democracy or republic , that is when the many parties became the two major parties as we know today, the politic race, now as for Obama other than being one of the major party members ( and Democrat) and a citizen of my state of Illinois , i do not care for him, nor do i feel he represents that of my state .. but on the same note i do not feel any candidate of either party would represent me in my philosophy of a strong republic structure. anyhow that is my two cents heh . agree to disagree i wanted to share this with you my fellow forum members smiley

  • Whoa gabby you are fired up! I feel your passion!

I am not quite sure Obama is entirely to blame. I think he is a mere pawn in a masterful game of chess. I think we need to take a closer look at the government behind him or should i say standing in front of him like a brigade.
  • one thing also i forgot to say that is actually more scary Gabby in reality is the very possible outcome to save our dollar .. more new taxes and cuts in programs .. now i don't think socialism sounds too bad considering now that 40% plus of our income at least on average now is paid out in taxes, then cuts in prgrams that are already getting slimmer ...

  • i feel this poll has been fair and every1 has such different opinions. From my experience whenever people get on politics they seem to get angry and border disrespect. I am so very proud of you guys for keeping this civil. I also am undecided but i cant help but weep tears of blood from the state of this world

Very nicely put Rena!  As a twenty year military veteran and a current small business owner I am always fighting back the inner rage that i have felt in regards to several current policies of this administration.  Sometimes it is very hard to hold these feelings inside but i wholeheartedly agree with your state of  the entire world feelings.  What ever happened to peace and goodwill to all???  It sounds so simple.
  • You can not expect one person to clean up a pile a sh!t as high and wide as Mount Everest, all while having the people who are supposed to be supportive/respectable/appreciative of you, against you! And in some cases out to get you...

I think we can since he took the position knowing full well what he was getting into.

The next President can look forward to the 'pile of sh*t' Obama left them with. smiley

I wouldn't say I'm against him.  I just don't like his vision, policies  or what he has done so far.  I just hope nobody is out to get him.

He seems like a great family man, one whom I would probably appreciate in any other job.
  • The new polls will most certainly show an increased popularity of the pres. Obama after the Bin Laden killing.

  • Well within the first 2 years of his presidency he has already been on TV more than any other president. I think he is all about liking the "fame". The problem with the country started long before him or even Bush....history is already starting to show that Clinton screwed alot of things up with his false sense of hope and everything came crashing down. Fact is until politicians go back to "by the people for the people" and not by the money for the money...the greed will continue and politicians will continue to get rich. Afterall our government is so worried about looking "Socialistic" that we are one of the only countries to have a healthcare system where the rich get treatment and the poor die!

  • I think there will be a shift of how people feel about President Obama after this historical event that has taken place. Not only in the US but worldwide opinion will change to an extent.

I think that what the president did was extremely courageous. He should certainly be praised for his efforts and accomplishments of this mission. Looking at him in pictures and on TV it's as if you can see the burden this man carries. It is never an easy job.

I read where he asked questions of his key people in the "situation room". And had to sleep on it before he made a decision on what to do. The room  was divided whether to act or not. He took a bold stand and that spells COURAGE.

He has made a name for himself in history and i hope we all remember that because too often we tend to forget the good that has been done.

  • I was not really an Obama supporter myself but i have to give credit where credit is due. Obama has worked his way into our hearts with this one.

  • I think so too Tommy. I think many feel the way you are about now.

  • I think this is my first post and an opinion on the subject regarding our current president.
I don't particularly agree or disagree in his presidency and his work.
So I guess I can be viewed as a neutral.
I do believe that he has been doing  a far better job than past presidents especially this new event and I think he deserves the credit but doing much worst in some areas especially his strong support in another bloody war...what happened to the man who shouted for being an antiwar before an election? He sure did not stop taking our young children to these endless wars...
To those who might think I am not a patriotic citizen from what I am about to say,I am just one of those many who believe in To Oppose War is Patriotic and I am in no way of trying to offend anyone but it's just my belief in certain things...

War can only gain nothing but a bloody disaster!!!
Remember the irony of how this evil Bin Laden was created and later was given the power in the first place...! What if we created another of him from these wars?
Our governments wants to protect Libya’s civilians and while doing so they can't avoid harming the civilians..., but It is as if other governments of their own are not killing civilians in the region and so many lives of our troops especially the youth...
From what I understand, this war is more about the control over oil and stopping the rebellion of workers and younger people in the region from being more radical and anti-systemic.
The governments launching the assault on Libya have been saying that they do not have money for our education and health care, etc.and we,citizens bound to suffer, but how are they finding the money to support another war now???
It seems to me this is just another war like the wars before in the past that it just signifies the fact that imperialists who arrogantly believe they are stronger and more powerful, can destroy any country they like in their own political and economic interests.
Once again, this is just my personal opinion and it will take no more war for me to be on his side!

  • i love reading your posts wnanhee like lipsand blue you put alot of thought behind them before you post them.YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME MODS AND TRULEY APPRECIATED

  • I see where you are coming from Nan and no one likes war, that i think we can all agree upon. But there is a lot of responsibility placed on the US to step in. We are either chastised for stepping in or we are chastised for not stepping in.

Sometimes i feel we are in a no win situation and we come under extreme criticism from other nations. It is the price we pay for being considered the "Super Power". These very countries that tend to go against our system are the very ones that ask "where is the US" when something goes down.

We are far from a perfect nation and i don't pretend to think we are. But we are also quickly scrutinized for any action taken. We have done tremendous good in this world as well as some mistakes along the way. We are always going to be under attack for one reason or another and always be called upon to lend a helping hand.

Unfortunately we don't live in a world where war is not necessary. It a senseless loss of lives and it is mind boggling that we can't sit down like adults without having more blood shed and have a better respect for all nations and come to a compromise.

Will that ever happen on this universe......i may be a dreamer but when it comes to this......it is where the dream ends for me.

    Lips
  • Nan and Lips,

Great posts by both of you!

I agree with both of your posts even though one strongly opposes war and the other see's the necessity.

Our nation is the most hated and the most revered.  I understand why WE are called upon in time of need but often wonder why we keep helping everyone else when nobody seems to come to our aid.

In the aftermath of 9/11, many countries offered a kind word but I don't recall any sending aid.  It seems when there is a disaster in other countries, we don't just offer words but so much more.

Following other countries natural disasters, we offer financial aid. How many telathons have there been for other countries?  Text a number to give $10. etc. etc.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall hearing about other countries setting up hotlines, fund raisers, etc. during the aftermath of Hurricaine Katrina, 9/11, the oil spill among others.

  • I have always been a supporter of President Obama, he was called a wimp, and a few other names, but he stood strong......and he gave America and the world a wakeup when it was announced that Bin Ladin was layed down......America wanted that, but we also want a better America and that is going to take some times...no matter what he was given a shaky American and he cant do it all by himself....there are just those folks that will never ever support him and thats okay.....that is why we have the tree bodies of government, the executive, the legistlative and the judicial.....so that no one would have absolute power....but there is evil in politicals, thats a fact.  He had to do what he had to do, and I am proud of President Obama, he is not the wimp, skimp, imp some folks thought he was, and more will be revealed, give it some time, he may be back for another term.....who knows what tomorrow will bring.....Bin Ladin is dead.  GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  • seems like we all agree that were glad Bin Ladins dead  thumbs_up
