How to make a screenshot

On how to make a screenshot and upload it to LCB, see instructions and video below:

1.You have the Print Screen key on the keyboard(thats the key next to the F12, or above insert or num lock keys).When ever u want to take a screenshot just press Print Screen key.
2.Open the Paint application.
3.Hold down the  CTRL key and press V to paste the shot into Paint.You should  save the file as a JPG file.
4.Now you have two ways to upload screenshots.

1st way: Upload directly from your desktop using Additional Options/Attach when making a post.The maximum attachment size allowed per image is 2048 KB.

2nd way: Your screenshot has to be hosted.You can upload your image to ImageShack , PhotoBucket or any other free image hosting and then just paste the url to your post.

Just make sure to click on insert image icon when making  a post and the image tags will show automatically, where you will then place your image url.

I am with you on that...I tried few times and gave up :'( I just learned some cool  tricks from my almost 15 years old daughter she knows more than me...I will probably bug her to show me on this.

hi, zuga! I recently learned to do screen shot and tried many times to post in here but ever time it gets rejected by size...saying too big. How can I make my screenshot (jpg) to smaller size? could you please tell me? I appreciate your time.

Right click on the image, then open with => Paint .

In the top menu choose Image => stretch/skew , and simply adjust the image size.

The maximum attachment size allowed for upload is 320 KB.

ah, here is the thing. To avoid having your whole desktop in the image, simply press Alt and Print Screen keys at the same time when making a screen shot.

Open the Paint. Now you have to reduce the size of the blank page so it can be same or smaller to your screen shot. Just go to Image =>Attributes and then adjust the size.

Then paste the screen shot and adjust the size by going to Image => stretch/skew and save it as jpeg file.

There are two versions of a screen shot, 1 is large and typically takes up a large area of the forum post and the other is like a little thumbnail at the bottom of ones post.

How do you do the large pic with no thumbnail?

Your pic has to be hosted. Just upload your pic to some free hosting like ImageShack, copy the URL and then paste it to your post.

I would suggest you to open the account first ( although its possible to upload pic without registering). When you upload pic to your acc, just click on the little icon ( next to the uploaded pic ) , its called  share it and copy the [IMG].

its great in imageshack it was easy to upload the images without registration its great....

Hey Lips..
I have paint on mine, its in the accessories, hard to find..
but what I don't have is a print key, which I asked for a while back.
Zuga put pics there, as if I don't know what an F-stop is.
I just do not have a numbers pad on my notebook, nor do I have a print key after my F-12 stop..do you?  And if not, what how do you print screen?

hey nal i just looked at my husbands laptop and in the 10 key section.......above the num lock is a little teeny key that says home then under it (on same little bity key) is a box with
prt scrn on it

I just looked at these with a magnifying glass...actually mine, above numbers lock is scroll.  It is above backspace on the insert button it says prt sc, I now am assuming is print screen.  and you are right...it is very small!!!  I never would have known that is what that was.  I looked everywhere!  Thanks!  I did look at those before too, but couldn't make them out.   Glad I finally found my numbers lock too!

LMMFAO!!!!!  Nallllllllllllllllllllll you crack me up.  I think you and I must be twins!!!!!!!  If I didn't have a desk top with a keyboard that looks just like Zuga's, I would STILL BE LOOKING!!!!   

1. Select the window you want to make a screenshot of.

2. Capture an image of your screen.

3. Windows Users: Find and press the "Print Screen" key on the keyboard. It is usually labeled PrtScrn. This will copy an image of the screen into the Windows clipboard. Alternatively, you may use our free Screenshot Pilot software.
     
4. Macintosh Users (OS X): Press Command-Shift-3. This will capture an image of the screen and save it to your hard drive. Look for a file named Picture 1 (the number may change if you already have images saved in this manner).

5. Open a graphics editing program (for example, Microsoft Paint or Paint Shop Pro).

6. Paste the image into the editor. This is most often done by using the menu Edit | Paste command or by pressing Ctrl+V. If your capture method saved the image to disk, you may need to open the image file.

7. Save the image in JPG, GIF or PNG format.

8. Check the size of the file you've just saved. If it is too large (more than 1 Mb), try adjusting the compression settings or crop only the necessary area of the screenshot.

I do have a print screen Nal....but why oh why can't this all be alot easier...i just wanna be able to copy and paste...but nooooooooooo that would the easy road! No one will prolly ever see a winning screen shot..i would be so excited at a big hit...im not gonna take the time to figure it all out. I'm gonna be on the phone bookin a flight...wink!

Hey there Lips,

Click the "Start" button down on the lower left hand corner of your screen.

Move your mouse over "all Programs" and find "Accessories". (This is where your calculator, system tools, notepad etc. are located.)

Look for "Paint" here. It comes standard with any windows operating system.

That's why we get along so good!

I told her it was in the accessories..maybe she found it.

Anyway, Jimbeaux..you such a smart guy, tell me why my print screen doesn't print to the paint screen.  I have done all the steps.

I tried messing around with paint for a few minutes and put another pic there, now every time that I try to paste my screenshot there, the old pic keeps showing up.

I have cleared it, and started over, and I still cannot get the print screen to take.  It is actually a half of a button, it is on the bottom half of the insert/print scr button
so I shouldn't have do anything.  But I have also tried it with caps on, using the control key, and most combos I can think of...any suggestions???

I am at a loss.

Is your "print screen" button stuck? Have you tried to print anything else other than a screen shot. I am wondering if that key is not working properly. You might have something under the key preventing it from working.

Press "Print Screen" which is near the top right of your keyboard and then go into "Paint" the program under Start>accesories>paint and click paste. Then save it, upload it to photobucket or something and there you go.

How do I use PrinKey-Pro?
After starting the program you will see a small 'Hand' Icon on the system tray.  The icon will appear on the right hand side of the task bar. To begin using PrintKey-Pro, left double click on the Icon or right click on the icon and press 'Open". You may also press the key labeled PrintScrn on your keyboard. If you press the ALT and PrintScrn keys at the same time, only the Active Window will be captured.

This by far is the best Print Screen Product....You can save and edit info.  Just click the print screen button, that's it!  No need to search for that lowly Function Key, or Shift Key, just hit print screen, crop or do whatever, save it to a folder.  Next you can open it and edit.  I will make sure everyone I know gets this, man.

Having 'pimp screen shot' and 'fireshot' is one down loadable program helped me with a lot of my work. It is so easy to use and comes with a lot of features like one click save videos and manipulations of your screen shots.
