Has anyone ever tried the new "electronic" cigarettes? There are so many types out there I was wondering which might be worth a try. Several sites have responses from customers who say they're pretty decent and they help when you're trying to quit.
Comments from one and all. Thanks

If I was trying to quit, that's one way to go.
I remember years ago, they had something called the "MD Method" and five tips you would load the cigarette in. They started reducing tar/nicotine at 10% then 20% then 35% up to 75-80% and then you would quit.
I liked them for the purpose of getting stoned without illegal druges. I'd use the 2nd stage for 2 weeks and then not use it to smoke. Damn what a rush!! -

Hi Frey,
We were just talking yesterday about new ideas for cigarette smokers at the bbq. Like mixing up lites with regular ciggys. Or throwing in a couple of menthols with with non menthols......and creating a pack where every other ciggy had no nicotine at all!
The ideas we can come up with after a few drinks.....lmao!
I have not heard of E Cigarettes. Can you explain how it works?
Thanks,

My son uses them, they seem to help stop his craving to smoke. I tried it last week, and it leaves a better taste in your mouth for sure. I am seriously considering buying some for myself. If nothing else, I do believe it will help me cut back on the amount I smoke.
e-cigarettes are about the size of a cigarette, there is a small battery that you recharge using a usb port. There is a reservoir where you put a drop of two of liquid nicotine. You puff on one end and the other end glows. You inhale the nicotine with water vapor. It's pretty close to the real thing... minus the odor, fillers, and restrictions on where you get to light up. One drop of nicotine is supposed to equal a pack of smokes, but my son seems to think it may be less for him. -

This sounds like a great idea..
But sheesh the crazy things i do.. i might electrocute myself..
Or blow my USB... then id need a electrician, and a PC Technician..
Id need a proffesional E-Cigarette installer..
My mother after about 25 years of smoking.. just quit cold turkey
and to this day, i have no idea how she did that, she just threw
the pack away and said, "i'm never touching another smoke again"
She smoked winstons, and i can still see in my head the crumpled
pack in the trash that day, she never touched another..
I wish i could do that. -

Those things are crazy..I saw them on TV..electonic cigarettes. I guess whatever it takes some people. As long as you quit.
My mother quit too, after almost 50 years. She had emphasema, congestive heart failure, put on oxygen for about 2 years, then died.
She didn't enjoy her time off her smokes at all.
After watching her suffer, and my girlfriends mother suffer thru lung cancer, I threw mine down after 19 years. I haven't smoked since. -

Wow thanks for the info......sounds pretty potent! One drop is equal to a pack of ciggys? Let us know how the success goes for you and your son.

Thanks for all the posts. As TX said the filter holds the "liquid" flavor. Most of the comments from users said one filter lasts for about 15-20 cigs. You can get different strengths of nicotine in the filter as well as different flavors, vanilla, menthol, reg tobacco. There are two different versions out now. One is a 3 part cig the newer ones are only 2 parts. Just attach the "filter" flavor on the cig portion and away you go. I googled e-cigarettes and got of plethora of sites. I'm narrowing down to smoke51.com and e-smoke. I'll let you know how it goes. It's going to be a whole lot cheaper than cigarettes here in new york. They're now $8 +tax. It's ridiculous. Thanks again. freyer

I have been reading about these for some time now. I heard the FDA has stepped in and there is rumor they will be banning them as unsafe. However, it depends on what and where you read about them.
My state is going smoke free next July. ugh. I gotta quit. I tend bar part time. That should be fun! We joke that we will still smoke later at night and anyone that turns us in will be banned from the bar. lol

medtrans, these e-cigs allow you to smoke anywhere regardless of state and local bans. FDA is probably not getting their cut of the taxes on cigs so they want to ban these. I read some reviews on a medical site and they say they're way better than smoking a real cig and you eventually quit.

Part of the FDA's problem with this is they have no Jurisdiction on the product as it stands right now. The E-cigarette is not listed as a food, or drug that falls in their mandate. On a similar note the ATF discovered that it also cannot enforce anything either as it is not classified under alcohol, tobacco or firearms.
Smoking banned states have found that they two have no laws against water vapor in public places and already the Anti-smoking Zealots are foaming at the mouth trying to find a way they can place a new nanny law that will cover this... after all allowing adults to use a product without consulting with them is anathema to their mental health... hmmm maybe it can be banned under a Mental Anguish clause...
Of course, it will be restricted "For the Children"... -

he E-Cigarette is a non-flammable device that consists of a tiny rod that is longer than a real cigarette, and comes with a replaceable cartridge that contains liquified nicotine, propylene glycol, tobacco flavor, and a membrane to hold the ingredients. The E-Cigarette also has a small rechargeable battery that allows nicotine to be converted into vapor with each inhalation.
When a smoker takes a puff, a sensor present in the E-Cigarette detects the air flow and a microprocessor injects tiny small drops of liquified nicotine, which gets vaporised.
The vapor has no smell and dissipates fast. To make the mist look like normal cigarette smoke, ethylene glycol is used.
The tip of the E-Cigarette glows red to mimic traditional cigarettes, using an orange LED.

I know what you mean with the cost of cig's in New York. I enjoy my slots addiction more than my cig's so I now roll my own and now one would ever know they were rolled either! I buy the 16 oz (huge) bad of tobacco costs about 25.00 and then 4 boxes of tubes, about 3.00 a box and the roller was only like 7.00 (after rolling many, many just buy a new one) This lasts me for a month! Spending 37.00 a month on my cigs that's it, and really you would never know the difference, the only thing is your time spent on rolling them, I usually can roll a carton in about 3 hours, yes alot of time but I would rather roll my own than pay 8.00 a pack! And believe me, once you roll your own you will never buy a regular pack again, and btw put your rolled cigs into the freezer and they stay fresh, i kept all my old packs of marb's and just keep refilling them, so not even your regular joe would know you rolled them!
