coronavirus in your country?

hello people , open is post so that they can comment if in your country or city they are in contingency for this virus? unfortunately in my country we are very badly the mexican government is doing very little and is stopping the jobs without being able to earn any money ... at the moment there are 92 cases in the whole country

Yes, the government declared a state of emergency in Serbia because of the Corona virus. All schools are closed until the end of the school year, kindergartens, university, people 65 or older are not allowed to go outside. We are currently prohibited from going out from 8 pm to 5 am. We have 72 infected.

It's crazy all over the world. The virus is spreading very quickly mostly because people do not follow the doctors' instructions. People who travelled need to stay at their houses at least 14 days but they don't do it.

Sorry to hear about jobs and salaries in Mexico. It sucks. We'll see how the things will go in Serbia. 

I Romania we have a state of emergency as well, last night the government announced that all restaurants and bars will be closed, along with schools, for at least 30 days. We have 217 people confirmed to be infected but that number is increasing every day.  

We have in Montenegro yesterday first 2 women's infected, last European country who got this. They come from USA and Spain. We had restrictions before couple days when we didn't have infected people. In next days I expect more serious prohibition 

Are we talking about the "Chineese Virus" that killed 180 americans so far?  Here is some good facts to know.

8000 americans die daily which is 2.7 Million per year.

70,000 americans die from opiate oversodes per year

Between 30k and 40k  Americans have died of the Flu virus this flu season (2019-2020)

8000 millitary vets per year decide to Opt-out by suicide. 22 suicides per day.

Trying to put something into perspective.

Couldn't get bread or TP yesterday. Folks shouldn't be such hoarder's! Schools here closed until Apr. 15th. Can carry out only at most of our restaurants. All our fitness clubs closed down. Not sure how many cases here in FL. Thankfully I know of no one so far that has come in contact or has it.

here now in me country gyms is open and not closed i thing is dangerous and Mexico will have serious problems because they are doing slow things and people do not obey friends, perhaps it is the end for my country

Yeah, countries need to take serious measures and people should obey the rules. That's for their good. Hope people will cooperate and the virus will stop spreading. 

I live in the USA, in Kansas. We have around 35 confirmed cases in the entire state which is minimal compared to other states and countries. My heart breaks for everyone. Never thought I would see something like this in my life time. All we can do is pray to the good lord above to take control and help us all through this. We have to stick together and help each other.

Here in Reno, Everything is closed beside for medical supplies, grocery store, gas stations and only carry out food. I think everything that is close until middle of April. Even all the casinos are closed. Am thankful we can still gamble online..lol. Stay safe everyone. Wash your hands.  :)

Same here. All schools are closed until next school year. This is sad for the graduates and everyone looking forward to the end of the year events such as prom etc. My grandson really needed the next two months of education, he had a very bad year. The school system here doesn't know if they will implement an online course or what their next move is.

in Serbia, we have education via national television. teachers record their lectures and they're played in certain periods on tv during the day. kids have to do their homework and they're supposed to send it to their teachers on the email, WhatsApp, Viber or something like that

college students have most of their classes on Skype, so we found a way for the school system to functions surprisingly quickly

I hope everyone stays safe.  My family and I are pretty much at home now unless I have to go to work or the store.   My wife, fortuneately is with  a job that allows her to stay  and work from home via a laptop.  It seems  like every day there are more and more restrictions on our movements (Florida).    The  traffic is noticeably less now.   More updates later.

UK has been on social distancing measures for just over a week, everything is shut apart from some stores that sell essentials, and most other things are being got by home delivery. We are allowed out once a day for exercise with members of our own household, and to get essential shopping.  Stay safe all xx

A bit of good news though, Prince Charles is now recovered and out of isolation after contracting covid-19, at 71 years old it is very encouraging :)

That is good news Mamt.   People here are starting to heed the warnings and stay home more (Florida) .  I can tell because the traffic is considerably less.   Just hope everyone stays safe so we can "get ahead of the curve"  so to speak.   Apparently California and Washington state are doing better than other states due to better compliance with the stay-at-home and social distancing recommendations. 

Hope everybody is doing okay and complying with the "stay at home"  orders/recommendations.   Had a bit of good news yesterday;  my wife was looking up some numbers for our area of Florida and said we had less than 5 confirmed cases in our zip code.   Now that might not sound like much but in our zip code there has to be well over 40 thousand people so I'm  optimistic  that we can get " ahead of the curve"  so to speak.

In our country, the march begins to peak the epidemic! It is a pity that the state does not impose quarantine! Belarus.

Here in the US, sports is done for who knows how long,  concerts ain't happening,  gatherings of more than 10 people is either not allowed or highly discouraged in most states.   So there's reruns/replays of old sporting events on TV.   Thank God for Netflix !!

Here too no sport at all, we watch WWE at the moment. We are allowed no gatherings of more than two people. Our prime minister has been in intensive care since Sunday, but is said to be responding well to treatment and is now stable. We have to combat people who do not follow social distancing, some parks have been completely closed because of people gatherring. I think this weekend with the weather forecast as being warm, more will be trying to get out

In Czech Republic, we are testing something called ,,Smart quarantine".

It is a GPS and CC related thing, where could be easily found with which people was infected person in contact, so it can be easier to quarantine just people who can actually be infectious rather than quarantining the whole country.

We should have our first results on monday, so I am wondering how will this end up.

In UK, government is paying 80 % of all workers wages that cant work...not ideal but at least something. On the other post before,  think parts of Russia will be doing lockdown soon, reports this morning saying big rise in cases

As well as the racism area, I personally am fed up of people in my Country comparing the novel covid19 to things like 'flu' despite scientists and poffessionals telling us this is something much different, look at the devestation it has caused in its initial sweep in such a short time. The president of the United States has used that same expression numerous times, I'm not passing judgement whether it is racist or not but since all the international media outlets have quoted him on that, who am I to ban somebody for using the same line? At LCB we are not the kind of moderators that go around deleting posts and imposing our own opinions. However, I can assure you that openly racist comments are not allowed here. 

Apart from that, I definitely agree with you on the coronavirus issue. Downplaying the threat of this virus by the US presidency has cost tens of thousands of lives, unfortunately. 

Here is the problem. THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS OPENLY RACIST. Im sorry but you are wrong. Do you not see the way it was spelled. By dragging out the word chinese is what makes it racist. Do you not see that?  Say the word chinese normally. then say it while dragging the word out over a longer time. Its racist. The comment was racist...anyone can see that. You fear racism. Otherwise you would see it yourself. For you to justify it by making an excuse makes you part of the problem. If the president used the N word I suppose that would be ok? Racism can only be stamped out by standing up to it. Not by justifying it. Which is what you just did.

I don't see anything racist in ChiricoSales post. He was quoting what has been publicly stated by the media at a certain point in time. He is entitled to do that and he certainly did not verbally attack anyone based on race or ethnicity. 

LCB does not tolerate racism and never has. 

We also DO NOT tolerate antagonizing and inciting prejudicial actions against a member based on individual perceptions in a high-pressure situation (such as a pandemic).

If this topic is to turn political, I expect it to remain civilized.

  last you will hear from me on the topic...I did however write the statement on paper and by experiment asked 10 friends what they thought of it without explaining anything. 7 out of the 10 immediatly thought of it as inflamitory. I never made the statement.( restrictions have been relaxed in my town)

  Spelling or inflection aside, You cant blame or attach a disese to a race...if you cant see that,then im sorry for you.  By the way by quoting what was said in the media,gives insight into a persons feelings. The contentious adjective was used to reference the country of origin, which is a universally accepted fact, to the best of our knowledge. The adjective was placed inside quotation marks. 

Since there was no semantic transparency to racial slurs in the contentious expression, the meaning can only be assumed, which means it both is and is not inflammatory depending on the person reading, therefore, I do not have the right to ban anyone. Neither do you. 

I understand your point perfectly. I also invite you to politely point out to the member and everyone else the potential dangers of language and metaphors, as not everyone is mindful or aware of cognitive linguistics. 

I am from Canada ( Province of Newfoundland ) we have recorded 3 deaths and 259 recovered for a total of 262, giving as a death rate of 1.16%. The last recorded case was on July 10, 2020. I have a feeling that things are never going to get back to normal. If wasn't for LCB I would be insane by now, seriously, don't think  I would have made it. So in 2019 there was 5,636 deaths in your province. Assuming the population remained somewhat static, the china virus only increased the annual death count by 3 total. Seems like you guys actually got lucky compared to other places.

All countires, except a few a few are rubbish at coronavirus, all about economy and money, typical for right wing like we have in many at moment, reopening far far too soon, we have some times coming I think that are going to be mcuh darker, just like what happened with Spanish flu, when they alolwed those openings and caused disaster :(

may i had that in the united kingdom, w. i think some people have been very fortunate, with the goverment furlough, schemes and govermant underwritten gaurantee loans, and many more things they have helped with, the coronoviris ,should not be made political converseration, on its the right or left, fault,, , we all no what happened to the goverments bank account the last time the left was in charge of the exquexer, , they left a note for the new goverment ? they is no money, in 2009, 45.000 death  not goverments fault, could be worse if you live in a not so wealthy country, like yemen, africa, or countrys with not a good health service in place

You are right, Jonplayers. I also think that wealthy and stable countries will recover as soon as the virus is under control. However, this virus thing will have a huge impact on the world's economy that's what we are going to face in the upcoming years, unfortunately. 

The most important thing is that we all have to take care of ourselves and our surroundings and stay healthy.
