Indeed, it seems RTG started to work more seriously to keep up with industry standard lately. There is a new menu bar present on all latest releases that look more modern, loading screen has been modernized as well, and there is a number of graphical improvements to later releases.
What I found particularly refreshing is stepping away from their standard sounds, and making sound themes appropriate to slot themes themselves (I can even say they are doing it quite well).
Now, apart from The Pirate Isle and Orc vs Elf, their slots are still fast paced and work very good on any machine, which is one of the main reasons I like RTG.
2 games I mentioned however represent RTG's attempt to make a 3D slot, probably with the idea to offer something similar to Betsoft, but from my point of view they haven't done a very good job. Main flaw is a very poor graphical performance, with pretty clumsy reel spinning and extremely long load times (one game is 243MB and the other over 121MB). Now, from the overall look of those 2 games, I suspect the reason for poor performance lies more likely in lack of optimization than in demanding graphics, since I saw much sharper looking slots that perform much faster.
