Ideal Tournament ideas

Hi guys, after some time, I am here, this time with a question!
I have a bit odd question: what comes to your mind when you hear "ideal online casino tournament"? I mean there are probably tens of regular or one-time online tournaments everyday I and I would like to know what especially do you like on them, what you dislike, what do you miss or what would you like to see. Feel free to share any ideas and thoughts and don't be afraid to think different and be totally open.
And why I am asking this question? Firstly, it's my personal interest, I have been part of the gambling community for a few months now and I got totally amazed by it and love exploring it. Secondly, we at Oshi might be preparing some kind of innovative lottery and tournaments (I can't tell more for now) and this could be a great place for a inspiration (not only for Oshi of course - anyone can decide to hear out the users and use some ideas;))

Great question and it definitely requires some thought. I think it would be really cool to offer a tournament that will give the winner VIP status for a period of time. Maybe 30 - 90 days. VIP treatment would be fun for any player to experience. I've got my thinking cap on and I'll be back if I think of anything else. 

For me, the ideal tournament is the one which is for free 

I like the tournaments If they are free, if you can "add on" or "rebuy" couple times, with popular games and of course with nice prizes

I love your idea of a themed tournament! You could make it a romance inspired, use love-themed slots, or maybe movie-themed slots? And than give the winner a month or two of free spins on a slot of their choosing, lower minimum deposit and wagering for bonuses, or some other significant benefits depending on the platform. And of course, a symbolic entry cost. Although, I think everyone is ultimately the happiest with straight up cash, rather than the means to win cash. At least I am! 

I guess, it would be great that there are no conditions to enter a tournament, even if a player has never made a deposit, they could participate. I think that would be ideal. :D Pehaps one of the prizes could be free cash, and no WR. :O 

Themed tournaments sound like fun. For example, players could vote for their favorite slots in different categories (romance, action, nature....) every week, or every other week. The most popular slot would be a tournament game.

I think what would be kind of cool is to have progressive type tournaments. Sort of like the way poker tournaments are run. The winner(s) of the 1st tourney will move on to a second level tournament with a waived entry fee where there is a bigger guaranteed cash prize pool that could lead into even a 3rd one. It would require a certain amount of entries or it would have to be canceled  

The first level would be free entry for all, second would require a buy-in fee with re-buy options for all (except the winners of previous tourneys) Prize structure could be 1st prize cash, 2nd and 3rd free entry fee to next level. Final tournament would have cash prize for 1 - 3 top placers. 

I think there should be more bitcoin tourneys with a big guaranteed cash prizepool, buy in and add on options. Freeroll tournaments are also very popular with players, where both new and existing players, even the ones who has never deposited, can participate. 

As for the games, I think that latest slot releases could be a good idea and that players would like them.

I remember when Megadeth slot was released, there was a bunch of lottery style giveaways of a very awesome Dave Mustaine signature guitar. I think it was a missed opportunity to make a really cool themed tournament with an awesome prize while at the same time promoting a really good new slot. 

My personal preference too would be to have a buy-in, if needed fee may be higher than usual too, but with no re-buys or add-ons. A true test of luck in other words.

Oh, thanks all for your ideas! Very interesting and I hope even more will come. I believe that discussion like this can be really helpful for the whole industry. I mean there are many things which "just works fine" and that's great. But it would be a mistake to stop here. We have to move forward, come with new ideas and keep on evolving. And sometimes the best ideas come to minds of someone you wouldn't expect it.

Anyway, I have asked this same question a friend of mine yesterday and he has told me an interesting idea. Perhaps it has appeared somewhere before, but it doesn't mind. The idea was in combining lottery/tournament with the bingo game - you would make your own bingo game plan and then try to finished it with the dice game or some slot game. What do you think?

@Sylvanas - Yes, exactly! Could be really cool. Maybe even some story behind it? With quests etc, something like RPG online casino tournament? Whïch film do you think would be the best one?
