I feel happy whenever I hear this song.  It makes one forget about all the problems we have even for a few minutes.  This song was used in the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and it won an Academy Award for original score.  It was also used recently on the Spiderman 2 movie, showing Peter Parker's blissful mood after abandoning his Spiderman identity and its responsibilities.  And I think that scene shows the real meaning of the song.  Nothing’s worrying me.

My most unforgettable experience with a bad storm happened when I’m still on my teens. A typhoon (they call this hurricane in the US) hit our place.  There is a complete blackout, night is the worst time when a calamity strikes, all you can hear is the howling wind and sometimes you can see some sparks a little bit above the ground that I think is cause by friction due to the strong winds.  As morning came, we are lucky that our roof is all intact but we can that many bamboo trees were uprooted and even coconut trees snapped, not uprooted, but cut in the middle.  Even the flag pole in our town hall bent, the half of the roof of our church was force inside the church.  And as I and my cousin who took shelter in our house came to check their house, we saw my Aunt and cousins emerging from the first floor of the house.  I asked them, how they are?.  My Aunt said, “normally we, sleep in the second floor but the roof was leaking so we decided to sleep instead in the first floor”.  When she said that, me and my cousin can’t help but laughed.  And we said nearly at the same time, “know why it is leaking, look over there, there is your roof”.  The whole roof was ripped off by the strong wind and laying beside a big tree with broken branches with no leaves still intact.

My personal experience about a storm is around 8/9 years ago my town flooded, It's never ever flooded before and has never been close since, although we have had worse storms, the flooding was localised to a certain area of the town.

It was surreal to get up in the morning and see it on the nationwide news, and to see lifeboats on the highstreet (which is roads) seeing cars floating along was strange. But it seemed to bring everyone together, population of my town is around 5500people, everyone was out, offering help, cups of tea etc,  hopefully the flood is something I'll never have to see again, but the way in which people come together is something everyone is always happy to see.

My experience with rain is not so good hehe, one time i won money when i went to landbased casino took home like 100-200 don't know exactly, but it was raining as hell, and i got the money cash in my jeans! guess what ,it was completely soaked with rain! i was really upset and frustrated haha, but my local bank i switched the wet money for new one's they have special dry machine or something so it came with a quite happy ending story! hehe

Anoter big THANK YOU for another very interesting contest to lipstick and to whole LCB team. I'm very glad to read all this stories from all members because there are very interesting and different stories and experiences.
So here are mine:

- My favorite rain themed slot, just like Niels and xxshepxx, is Today's weather from Microgaming. There is very interesting background which changes the "weather" with every spin, from snow to sunny day. The best thing there are free spins bonus features, for sure. There are four different, one for each weather condition. My favorite free spins feature is "Sun", just like I love the sunny days the most  I really like this game and I suggest to all players who didn't try this slot game yet, to try it soon and I'm sure that they will like it.

- My favorite rain themed song is one funny Macedonian song from on of our best music groups Nokaut, which is called A B C, or in Macedonian "Ej Bi Si"  This song is about a guy who wants to get out on a date with a girl but she is with another man. - Mine personal experiences when it's rainy are not so good because I always get all wet because I don't want to take umbrella with me. The best and in the same time the scariest experience in the rain was last summer. Me and my family went to my grandmother's house which is in another city 200 km away. When we was coming back home, from nowhere there was the biggest storm that I can remember in my life, there was a BIG BIIIG rain, very strong wind on the road there were about 15 cm water. There were many cars on the road because then was one national holiday and many of the cars stopped by the road because there was no "clear view" on the road. All in one, with some luck and my dad's driving skills  we managed to get home without bigger problems. But I'll always remember that journey and that storm that was the biggest in my life.

Triple Twister is a slot game found on RTG sites which is based on the tragedies of living life in rural America where tornadoes destroy lives and communities on a regular basis.  It's not one of my favorite RTG slots, but it does have the possibility of providing a big payoff when the tornado splits into two, and then three tornadoes at once! 

You can choose up to 50 paylines with Triple Twister, and it has a progressive jackpot attached.  I guess the irony of the whole theme is that with massive destruction comes the capacity for massive changes for the good.

Is there any better feeling than being young and free and cruising down a highway when a great song comes on and all of a sudden you are "in it"?  You know what I mean. 
We have day-long roads in Texas.  One night I was driving in the middle of west Texas, where you can see what's down the road 10 to 20 miles ahead of you.  And it's nothing but more highway.  This night, a bad storm was brewing.  You could see it building up around you, you could feel the pressure changing in the air.  You could see the lightning flash like you were in a laser light show that was 100 miles wide.  After smoking a nice joint, feeling all mellow and still brewing up the tense nervous feeling of the storm I was about to encounter, I heard the first few notes of the Doors' Riders on the Storm.  Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown.

Oh my, what a feeling.

I made it through the storm though at one point the rain came down so fiercely that everyone on the highway was forced to pull over to the side and sit it out.  You couldn't see your hand in front of your face.  You couldn't do anything but sit, turn on the radio, and ride out the storm.  Awesome.

Wow, some cool stories and sentiments here.  Chilly, I had completely forgotten about Riders on the Storm until you posted that.  One of my all time favorite songs.

Rain is my favorite weather element.  I'm never happier with the weather than when it's raining.  I lived in California for 20 years and sooooooo missed the rain and thunderstorms, that I started chasing them up to the mountains when they were forecast - a 4 hour drive.  When I moved back to upstate NY, I was thrilled with all the rain, but then we moved down to South Carolina and it doesn't rain as much here; at least where I am.  People here really don't understand my love for the rain.

I can't say that I play any rain themed slots, except Triple Twister, but I've had an older R&B/Blues song running through my head ever since you posted this topic - Rainy Night in Georgia - sung by Brook Benton in 1970; they say it was his last big hit.  I haven't heard it in probably a couple of decades, but I can still hear his wonderful voice in my head.

  Moneystorm is a video slot I've only seen at land-based casinos. An experience in the rain?  Driving down the wrong direction of traffic and not getting stopped by police. It was pouring rain, but had people in car, listening to music and obviously distracted. Thank Goodness no one was hurt, and it's never happened again.

About this song- me and my boyfriend are two weirdos that love the rainy weather, I know most people hate that weather but I do love it, I always feel calm when it rains, that way I can relate to the song and say- I'm only happy when it rains. And altough some words from the lyrics may seem a bit dark/depressive, I don't see it that way,  I love to listen to this rock and roll/indie type of song with a hot tea and watch the rain sweep away everything bad.

I have a few really nice memories about rain and storm, but I guess the most favorite one was the moment few years ago, almost 4. It was in the middle of the night and there was huge storm and heavy rain. My hon and I lived near a children's playground and we just went out, in the rain, to the playground, and had fun just like little children, we played with swings and slide, we were all wet and enjoying every minute of it. I'll remember this forever!

I forgot to add the slot! I wanted to say that my favorite rain themed slot would be Tornado Farm Escape. I know it's not rain, but tornado is something close to a storm and even thing a lot about it I cannot think of any particular one. I love the game because tornado usually reminds me of something dark, scary and unknown and this slot is something completely opposite, which is a nice change.

I remember when I was in grade school around 4th grade. When the schools still had PE ( Physical Education )  for a  activity in school.  When it would rain , we would go to the gym and exercise to music. One of the songs I remember exercising to was  " I love a rainy night "  sang by Eddie Rabbit.  This was the only time I ever enjoyed PE thur out all of school.. The song has a beat to it and it took away any noise of lightning. Where I lived we only got rain and lightning. The song brings back happy memories for me.

As for a storm well when it rained for a couple of days in a row and we lived next to the river the river was over flowing and it came as close as 2 houses from us before the storm let up. We were putting up sand bags but thank goodness the storm let up. that was  around 20 years ago when I lived in Susanville California.

The only slot machine that I have played with a rain theme is Rain Dance.  It is a twenty line slot with coin denominations from .20 to $5.00 that a player can choose to play.  Rain Dance also has a progressive random jackpot that players could win unexpectedly.  The slot machine offers a stop button for the spinning reels; not one of my favorite features.

Rain Dance is not a fancy slot machine with lots of bells and whistles.  It is just one the many twenty line slot machines that Real Time Gaming Software has to offer players.  I have never won any money playing Rain Dance, but since writing this review, I might have to give it a try again.

The song that first came into my mind after reading this contest requirements was, “Riders On The Storm” by the Doors.  I loved this song the first time I heard it played and it is still today, on my all time 100 favorite songs list.  My favorite way to listen to this song is with headphones.  I can hear the rain falling much clearer listening this way.

The lyrics to Riders On The Storm are kind of weird.  Not the type I would of thought from the song's title.  The word rain is not mentioned in the song's lyrics but a storm usually has rain in it and this song has lots of great rain sounds.  If you have never heard this song you should give it a listen.

A personal experience that happened in the rain or a bad storm.

Any rain has a special place in my heart, because my very first kiss was in the rain.  I was only fourteen and was beginning to think that I might be the proverbial sweet sixteen and never been kissed girl.  My friend who happened to be a boy, sometimes walked home with me after school.  We would talk about school stuff and about the sports we were playing.  Nothing special and nothing romantic.

This was one of the days we walked together.  It started to rain as I almost was home.  He took off his jacket and held it over my head.  I felt a bit awkward because he was walking so close to me.  We reached the end of the block on which I lived and I turned to say goodbye and thank-you.  Well, surprise, he all of a sudden leaned over closer and kissed me.  I was so shocked, I just turned and started running for home, yelling back, “See you tomorrow.” 

Every now and then when it begins to rain and I am outside and get caught in it, the thought of the boy and my first kiss come to mind.  I just smile and think, “I sure am glad for the rain that perpetuated one of the biggest first's in my life.”

I always loved Kieth Sweat songs and this one was my favorite. When i was a teen i got stuck in the car with a very special young man on a dinner date. We were both mad and wet because it was raining and we got out to try to fix the car. After sitting silently for a while, he tried the switch and the car started. The song that played was this one.








I know this story sounds unbelievable before i tell it, but it is true. It wa the worst time of my life living in the south. It begins 2 years ago........



Storms had been ravishing every state in the South and we had been getting warnings for about a week. That year i believe there was over 200 tornadoes and a state of emergency in every southern state. Many people died and i even posted here on LCB about being very afraid of the storms.
  When the storms fially hit, it was about 11pm. My sister and i kept a watch on the news. When it got near us we pulled out the bible and prayed. We took turns sleeping because one of us needed to be awake to get the family to the basement if a warning was issued. I do pray but i am far from a bible based person. When it was my turn to keep watch, i got on my knees and i prayed as the storms and winds picked up. I was so afraid i was crying. There were over 30 tornadoes in almost every county except for........ you guessed it, our county. The tornadoes were all around us and you could plainly see them on the news radar. We were smack in the middle and we did not get one. Was it God, i do not know, but it was life changing for me. The next morning around 7 am the storms stopped and the sun was shinning brightly. Our whole state was declared a state of emergency and people lost their lives  . I  Google searched that morning on where to move if your afraid of tornadoes and could not find anywhere that mother nature does not unleash her fury some how. I came across a forum and happened on a very angry member that had lost everything. The message was directed toward our county. The message was....... your turn is coming  .

My worst storm experience was when my boys were about 8 and 10 years old. We had moved to Hampton beach, New Hampshire which was such a beautiful place to live.....except when the big storms come along! My boys and I had decided to go along the breaker wall to "watch the fury of mother nature"..... not the smartest thing to do! I can honestly say that I am more than grateful that we learned a valuable lesson by watching another persons misfortune.  
As we stood on the "safe" side of the breaker wall in the pouring rain with the wind howling and swirling around us. The dark grey and black clouds above us seemed to be warning us to" just go home!" But my boys insisted on "going to check out that guy over there!"..... I looked and saw a guy.... who had to be in his mid twenties, standing ON TOP of the other  breaker wall... of course that one was CLOSER to the waters edge . The waves were pounding the beachfront and they sure seemed to be moving in fast.... which they were!   We watched as a huge wave swallowed the guy up and when the wave was gone SO WAS HE!!!   We were shocked!! Thankfully we were not the only ones watching this guy and his antics...... there was an off duty life guard who grabbed his orange floaty and took off toward the waters edge . I had never experienced such an uplifting feeling as when he pulled the guy from the water and the guy was okay!  What a hard way for HIM to learn a lesson...... but I was thankful my boys learned that same valuable lesson WITHOUT coming close to drowning in any way shape or form!

When this song came out, it reminded me of someone who was messing around. and my brother saw it and didnt tell me because he said i wouldnt' of done anything. this song reminds me of watching this person breaking up with them, and only taking the stuff with them that moved in with.  I did what he did.

Sighhh..In my younger days, I loved walking in the rain especially in the evening when it just a light rain and not cold.  I remember going to the bar or parties and they would always throw this song on because they knew it was my favorite.  Whenever I hear this song now, it brings back some great memories of being young and carefree.

3.  My personal experience was during a bad storm.  We were out at camp and we could see a storm going by south of us.  We watched the lightning stay constant in the air and clouds.  We felt a bit anxious watching this storm and glad that it was missing us.  Later as we were setting up for evening festivities we checked again on the storm and noticed it had either changed direction or it grew massively because it was heading straight for us and it wasn't going to be the run of the mill storm.  After putting things away and making sure the boats were tied up off to bed we went.  Well my husband was away on a fire so it was only I in my camper and because I hate storms I couldn't sleep and my anxiety was getting worse as the storm hit us directly and as it roared on at one point my camper was lifted up and moved off it's jacks a few inches.  By then I was about frantic.  I heard a knock on my door it was my brother coming to get me to gather in one of the other campers so that we were all together.  The storm lasted all night and into the early morning hours and as we watched it leave us we were thankful nothing more happened.  So the day was beginning and over we looked and saw some nasty clouds coming over the tree tops from the same direction the storm had left us.  It was turning around or it was another one coming to torture us again.  We decided this time to put everything into the campers, check the boats and head to town for this second round of storm.  Good thing we did, when it was all over we came back out to came to find our camp almost gone.  The biggest tree which was huge had been uprooted and hit my camper, anything and everything that was outside was either gone or landed in someone elses campsite.  The vents on one of the other campers were torn off.  Another camper lost their canopy even though it was closed up.  It was one night that we'll not soon forget.

Ok guys here's a true story about rain drops keep falling on my head cause my feet are to big for my bed!! Well the very first time my new husband and I went camping neither one of us where very experienced. We brought what we thought was a two person tent, you know so we could be nice and close, needless to say by the time we got it up we realized it must of been for small kids cause are feet where hanging out the end. ok we can do this so night time came we went to bed only to  be waken up to thunderstorm and rain drops pouring down on our feet, by the time it was done we where soaked it rained in the tent on the tent & all over us. August of this year my Husband and I will celebrate our 23 Wedding Anniversary. Each year holds some special memories but of all those years my very best memory  would be 3 weeks after we were wed.
We are both very country and love going out two stepping! People say we danced like we had been doing it together all our lives.
Well we had been out most of the morning shopping for stuff for our house when we had to stop for gas. We went into the store hand in hand , we were still newlyweds, and paid for the gas.
When we came out of the store our favorite song was blaring on another cars radio.
To my surprise my husband took hold of my hand wrapped his arm around my waist and we began waltzing around the gas pumps. And I kid you not a sudden rain storm began to pour down heavily on us . But we did not even pause and just continued to waltz through the rain till our song ended. When we stopped everyone who had been getting gas had actually stayed and watched and they began to applaud.
I will always remember that day as the day the Lord rained down a blessing of love on 2 newlyweds!

My latest 'wet' experience that I remember was last year. It was a hot summer day on Friday so me and my friends decided to go to a open-air party in the mountain. Of course the weather forecast didn't guess it again. In the middle of the night it started raining so bad that it was like you are taking a shower and there was no place to hide. At first I was very pissed off and mad that I came here at all but after becoming extremely wet  we all decided that we should not let the bad weather to ruin our fun so we just continued to party in the rain. After all it was a lot of fun

My scariest storm moment, was 2 years ago in may. We were coming back from a funeral in Oklahoma city, ok. heading to Dallas. Those of you from the US have heard of the town Moore, Ok. They have been hit my gigantic tornadoes the last 15 years, maybe more. Anyway we were just outside of Moore when the sky turn a dark green and the it started to hail, golf ball to baseball size. There was no where to go so most cars pulled over on the shoulder. My car has a sunroof and my mother-in-law was in the front seat, we thru a pillow over her head and prayed the glass would hold. It didn't, but luckily the side cover between us and the glass held. We were scared to death, just then I looked behind us to see what the damage was and I saw a tornado coming out of the sky about 2 miles from us. I told my husband to floor it hail or no hail, and we didn't top until we were about 30 miles up the road. My car looked like it had been in a batting cage with no strike zone. Hundred of dents, but we were all ok, the only thing we had to do was change our underwear.(If you Know what I mean). I haven't been back to Oklahoma since.

I was born and raised in Florida , we have hurricane season. In 1960 I remember getting ready for hurricane Donna , all the family came together at my Nana;s two story house, We had huge avocado trees in our back yards and when the wind started the avocados started to fall. We scurried around the yard picking them up and giving some to the neighbors, In those days we had no idea how bad things were going to get . We were excited when the electricity went out and the oil lamps were lit. I ember it got so bad we could no longer sit on the porch and watch the storm , so we went inside . Adults played poker , kids played monopoly. It was raging outside , suddenly we heard a huge crash. One of the very large trees in our backyard had crashed in the roof ! The whole top floor had caved in . It was not so funny any more. As we were trying to get as much as we could from the top floor we also had a small "cast" little storage room attached to the garage . The entire roof came off. I remember my Dad going out into the storm trying to salvage important things stored in it.We went many days with no electricity and I do remember waiting in line for ice at the ice house. I love rainy days and storms and I always have but I do have a healthy respect for hurricanes , our neighborhood had been advised to evacuate but no one did. Thanks to God no one was hurt , but when told to leave I get the hell out .Good luck friends

I have been following this thread & really enjoyed reading all of your posts. What a great way to learn about each other! Thank you LCB & all of you who have shared yourselves by participating in this contest. 

Here is my long-winded, indecisive, tangent-filled attempt at the April Showers Bring LCB Powers Contest! 

I love it when it rains! I live in Laos Angeles & unfortunately we rarely get any here. I spent many years in South Carolina & survived Hugo & Andrew respectively. I will never forget the water spouts across the horizon in Myrtle Beach & the blackened sky just before the storm touched down. It was very frightening for a 12 year old girl. 

Over the past 5 years I have spent a lot of time in Oahu, HI. Working on a large project, I flew back & forth about every six weeks. There were many times that the weather over the Pacific had me white knuckling my armrest. During those frequent 5 1/2 hour flights, I watched from above as the ocean turned from breaking waves along the shore into enormous white water explosions from the violent winds & rain. I have always respected the Ocean but those flights offered me a unique view of the grandiose Pacific. 

I will include some photos that I took from the plane which allow you to see just how reflective our ocean/sky/horizon are of each other. I took the photos & I find it hard to distinguish up from down. Be alert, don't get vertigo!

I had a hard time picking just one rain song. I love the odes to rain by so many artists including Peter Gabriel, The Who, some of the artists already listed like Garbage & Eddie Rabbit, too! I have to offer an honorable mention to the CLASSIC Purple Rain album which gave us so many amazing songs!

That being said I still couldn't narrow it down to just one!  Music is my drug of choice! I always have music playing in my world, it keeps me sane! I ended up with 3 amazing songs & spent time playing each side by side while I typed this very comment.  <3 I love them all so much!  <3

Almost forgot to include my favorite Rain themed slot! Hands down it is Money Storm found in many traditional casinos.  I have won & lost large sums of cash on this game!  Most recent run-in resulted in a win! About $250, if I remember correctly! Just before we walked out the door, too! 

My buddy Troy & I went to San Manuel late one night & each took $200 with us. We agreed no ATM visits,    we have both made that mistake before! I played BlackJack, Video Poker & some slots. A personal experience that happened in the rain ? One Day it was late evening and it was a hard rain i walk the street  to my home and lost my home key but after 20 minutes search in the cold rain I found it .

This song is so typical about how people start thinking one thing about someone before
they really know whats going on and their brains start to wonder and make things worse
and then you find out, it was all just a big misunderstanding! 

3)  One time while on vacation we woke up in Columbia SC, to find the "green" sky.  Horrible storms were moving into the area.  We left the hotel and tried to hurry home, but the storm caught up to us and as we were going down one highway, we could see tornados breaking out in the fields and one actually going down the other highway that we were crossing.  The wind was so strong that the car would barely go 60mph.  On top of it all, the kids all had the stomach flu and were in the back seat throwing up into their beach buckets.  Luckily we escaped the storms, but we saw at least 5 tornados on our way home to PA that day!

Im not suppose to tell this story but i have to since i still cant forget what it was about? Since now  was raining heavily. An occasional THUMP of Thunder sounded. The lightnings also like were grabbing each other. Gerund flavor appears in the liver. My body shivered coolness. Fear and cold mix in me. I still cannot clossed my eye. I still remembered the good sunny day turn into very bad RAINY , very hurt and very sad day. On that day the sky seemed bright. The Sun is like a smile shows fangs. My brother and i were planning to swim in Patong Beach, Phuket. We have been on holiday in Phuket, Thailand for a week with my mother and my father. Patong Beach there are many travelers from the European country. They are also being gone swim. There are also many travelers who were sunbathing at the beach. Patong Beach atmosphere were very nice n comfortable. The water is very clear. The waves also run down to hit the beach. State of the beaches it is very difficult to be found on the beaches in Singapore. Therefore, I and my brother took the opportunity to revelers. After swim at the beach, we boarded a jet ski to race with him. Really hull the waves on the sea. Once satisfied playing jet ski, we build also sand castles on the beach. But the atmosphere is beautiful and comfortable, it was turned into a grim. I thought the heat to the evening, it seemed to rain down at midday. During us happily play along with chased the waves, all of a sudden I had heard the sound of people screaming. Suddenly i hear"Run! Run! Tsunami! Run? The tsunami? "somebody says from the beach. Then my brother pull me out of the water into the foreshore and telling me to run along with him. Many people climbed ashore and ran into the shore. I'm still confuse. I don't understand what has happened. At the time we run I took a chance to look back. I saw a huge wave was approaching the coast. The feeling of fear arises in our hearts. I felt really scare. Many people screaming in fear. I also was screaming in fear. I tried to run as fast as possible to save my life. The State into a frenzy. We're not sure orientation. Each wanted to save themselves. However, the unfortunate doesn't smell. I have been struck by the waves crashing into the wall and my body building. I tried to reach a pole to cleave. It's unfortunate fate that befalls me. I screamed in pain and felt my world becomes dark. If I were aware of any who become faint, I found myself in a hospital beds. Many people have been slain in the incident including my brother. I wept and lamented the departure of my brother. A result of that event, I have been paralyzed from the waist down to the book then. I shouldn't be walking or running. I cry in memory of my fate. So to this day, I suffer from illness paralyzed. I could not move as of yore. I had to use ' seat wheel if wanted to move. I have also been suffering from the disease is difficult to sleep. Events in Phuket beaches such as repeated screening in the minds of my thoughts are. I've always dreamed of an event that horrified at that. I can only pray that God can eliminate the suffering that befell me. From the happy family vacation has turned into a disaster and a terrible experience in my life.

3.  A personal experience that happened in the rain or a bad storm.
It was summer.
It was the rain and the sun at the same time. We call it "Blind rain".
It was my first kiss.  <3
It was many years ago.

My most memorable experience with the rain is when i was waiting for a bus in a rain storm standing in a dry place when a car came by and splashed me socking wet.  And i still had an hour bus ride to go.

•  A personal experience that happened in the rain or a bad storm.

This storm was just like a lot of storms that we had seen since we moved
out here in the country.  The rain was really comming down.  You could
hear it hitting against the windows because the wind was blowing so hard.
We were concerned that another tree was going to come down in the yard
just like it had so many times before.  Every time we heard the thunder
and then the lightning strike, we would jump up and look out the window.
Finally it stopped, it was already dark out, but the moon was so bright
that you could see out into the yard.  Way out at the end of the driveway
we could see two big bright eyes that seem to be staring at us.  Then it
just seemed to fade away.  No trees seemed to be down so we went back inside.
The next morning while we were outside sweeping up we heard a "meow" come from
under our SUV.  A little gray kitten with these great big green eyes came out
and Joe "meow'd" back.  She was real friendly, she had no tag or other Id. 
We realized that she was what we saw the night before. That was seven years
ago. We named her "Jade" (yea that's my cats name) and she has been a part of
our family ever since that day........

This was about 22 years ago, I was an insurance agent & my company had moved me from Long Beach to Sacramento.  I had never lived in Sacramento and knew very little about it.  Being the Branch Manager one of my duties was to insure that any policies were postmarked the same day they were written.  It was my first day writing policies in Northern California and I had to find a post office that was open late so I could be sure and get them postmarked.  Back then you couldn't just load the address into your phone and have Siri guide you.  I had to write the directions down.  This particular evening there was more rain than the entire month before that I lived in Long Beach.  As I'm driving along, I see the street I need to turn on, make a hard left AND I end up on the center divide!!!!!!!  Two wheels on each side of the median.  I didn't even see it.  I got lucky though, there was an AM/PM on the corner so I ran over there and a bunch of guys were getting gas, they came back to my car and lifted my little Honda up and I went on my way.  Soaking wet and all, but I made it in time to get my policies postmarked!!!

My experience with a storm was the other year here in the UK when we had the floods and crazy storms.

I remember going to bed quite early that night. At about midnight I woke up to the wind howling outside, the sound of heavy rain and a lot of loud bangs. I couldn't see outside but I anticipated some damage to the things in our garden.

When I woke up and checked, I was correct. 1 part of the fence blew down, the shed roof felt had blown off, garden planters and our compost bin had blown across the garden. The front garden was no better and it took a few hours to clear everything up.

There was actually a bit of a joke we had to do with 1 set of daffodils. On that night of the storm the daffodils were blown out of their plant pot and ended up on the path. We replanted them back in the same pot the night after the storm.

The next evening, while the worst of the storm was over, it was still quite windy. I got up in the morning and saw that an empty planter had blown into those daffodils that night and crushed the lot.

They never stood a chance.....
